I certainly do try to relate, and have defended the frustration of the protestors. Just remember this perspective the next time some bombs an abortion clinic. Try and see the frustration in their eyes after decades on unfettered murder; children who can’t call out for their mothers, because they are dead. You have alluded to the selfishness of people protesting the stay at home orders. Are you now willing to walk that back and admit they have legitimate frustrations that need to be addressed? Are you willing to meet half way and do that?

You can’t pick and choose which group to empathize with if this is the stand you are going to take.

You’re engaging in what’s known as a tu quoque fallacy. I don’t think that’s what you mean or want to do.

I think the more recent example on CAF is relevant. The protesters on the steps of the MI capital building were castigated by many on this forum. People argued the police should have taken their guns, they were irresponsible, dangerous, etc. The people making those claims did not care what their driving reasons for protesting were. Who cares if they lost their livelihood because of governmental fiat.

It appears that many of those people are quite sympathetic to the plight of the George Floyd protesters, even if they were violent. We are urged to understand the violent expression of their frustrations. Some people’s solutions is to just let them go until “they get justice,” despite the arrest of the ex-cop who kneeled on Floyd’s neck.

I am not saying the years of frustration from racism is equal to the shorter term frustration of people losing their jobs. I am saying that violence can never be condoned, but in the two examples I present, only one was violent. A particular Catholic moral teaching states “the ends don’t justify the means,” but there is a whole lot of justifying going one this forum regarding the violence.

Very well said.

18 hours without electricity  and as often as twice a month though never that long…
Yes, I said “ as extended as it is” . Asking our race almost by default. It takes/lessens importance ( from) where concrete incidents, events require its identifying it as the cause by their very nature.
That is why I took it seriously at the doctors’ and asked for help, believing there was some health studies/ research behind the question.
Besides the legal and when given the chance and not online clicking options after several years I ended writing race: human.
My husband: Spanish mother( from Spain), white almost transparent complexion, green eyed Argentinian, Spanish speaker . He is Hispanic. As Hispanic as King Felipe 😉 .Very Hispanic. Is that what you are looking for? I could go on with cases and cases…

Now if there are Institutions, localities, specific areas, schools whatever where incidents , normally formally denounced show a pattern then purge the institution more so if it is structural, etc etc because they are way behind what society as a whole and by far has achieved, thanks God.
Hope it helps, and clarifies.

@Dr_Meinheimer I think he relocated to Southern California, so it all worked out pretty well for him in the end.

I believe there’s data on incarceration rates and severity of sentencing comparing Black and White treatment in the American justice system. It does so for similar offences.
I actually keep up with one component of that data. It is a small disparity here, but less than five percent different from our general population (less that 20% total, behind Hispanic and white). This is local data only.

I understand, when it is important and applies.
We have social issues, basically income and some racial component but it boils down to inequality.
We also have what remains of a macho culture, and there is every possible resource available to denounce.
We have a fostered / fueled sometimes antagonism through events in the seventies.
There may be more and we have a lot of problems.
That is what I would say stands out, right now mainly the female protection
What I mean is that if there is a need for statistics, probably same as everybody else, what are analyzed are concrete events, episodes, patterns. Statistics we have tons as everywhere else…
No general forms here ask any other than the basics namely gender , date of birth and at most nationality if necessary.
I don’t remember ever having filled a form including race, religion or any other. But what appears in my document,as it appears in it, same as passport to prove identity.
I hope I’ve answered.

Really? the cop is just a symptom of the bigger problem. What do they want? I think they want more than a band-aid.
Got some evidence the problem is pervasive?

What I see nationally are isolated examples that make the news. But as often as not investigation may show the cops were acting appropriately, this just happens to be a clear case were they were not.

The denominator here is about 27,000 daily arrests in the USA.

Seriously?
Math and statistics are usefully life skills, honest

I repeat, "Got some evidence the problem is pervasive?"

I don’t think it is given the context of the daily number of arrests performed across the country.

Could it be that the media finds that one perfectly inexcusable police killing that comes along every once in a while and publicizes that a lot? Police kill roughly 1000 people a year in the USA. We never hear too much about too much about the other 999.

Antifa is made up of around 200 separate organizations, all with different goals and interests.

And how are those goals and interests attained???
That’s a separate question. Identifying members as “BULLIES plain and simple” and claiming “they don’t care who they hurt and they don’t even care why” is incorrect and reflects a core misunderstanding of what Antifa is.

No, it is not a separate issue/question because violence is manifestly a part of who they are and how they work.
The antifa (/ænˈtiːfə, ˈæntiˌfɑː/)[1] movement in the United States is a militant[2] left-wing, anti-fascist political activist movement[8][12] which comprises autonomous activist groups that aim to achieve their political objectives through the use of direct action rather than through policy reform.[13][14][15] Activists engage in varied protest tactics, including digital activism, property damage, physical violence and harassment against those whom they identify as fascist, racist, or on the far-right.[23]

Individuals involved in the movement tend to hold anti-capitalist views,[24] and subscribe to a range of ideologies such as anarchism, communism, liberalism, social democracy and socialism.[30]

Uprisings, popular uprisings, Cuba and Syria have been commandeered by nefarious actors say many… whenever one is bringing up what riots are. It’s way too broad of a concept.
