Idk, his views are a little too far left for me, no offense

Its good to remember that the only priest who was elected to Congress was a liberal Democrat. If you did not recall.

Actually, there were two priests elected to Congress, both Democrats: Robert Drinan and John Cornell.

However, they were elected back in the 70’s. The Democratic (and Republican) party was quite different then it is now.

I’m not so sure. I met Fr. Drinan in the eighties.
I probably should have been more precise. Drinan did serve into the 80’s, but only barely–he was in congress from 1971 to 1981. So while he was technically there into the 80’s, it was brief enough that I count him as being in the 70’s (certainly, that was where the majority of his congressional time was).

For me voting is a dilemma. Democrats promote the choice to abort babies. That’s bad, but it is my belief that Republican politicians (not the voters) have no intention of ever ending it either. That would remove a huge block of people who vote for them because of their stance. They will toss the pro-life crowd a bone here or there, but they benefit politically from the very existence of legalized abortion. They’re playing their followers for easy votes. We keep letting them do it. It’s truly an unholy mess.

Chicago Is The Most Corrupt American City: Report. And the most Democratic
Actually, the Chicago mayoralty is non-partisan so you can’t really call it a Democratic city (There is a reason it is non-partisan which I can explain to one). Of the major American cities, Chicago is one of the few which has not had a mayor or ex-mayor convicted of a crime in the last 100 years. A “most corrupt” label is hard to quantify but certainly the Democratic party could not be called a causation. Compare it to cities which have been led by Republicans.

That’s what I’ve been trying to say in a much more, much worse way thank you

I am a democrat and Catholic. I’m also on my diocese’s commission for social justice. I see no issue with it. Personally I cannot vote for trump and feel as if I’m still Christian

a vote for a democrat supports more than just abortion, don’t limit it.

by voting democrat, you support the entire LGBT agenda, euthanasia, embryonic
stem cell research, transgenderism, identity politics, the destruction of the family, contraception, socialism, breaking the seal of the confession, forced abortions in catholic hospitals, forcing the church to perform same-sex marriages, liberal judges who will uphold these policies, etc

which of these policies agree with church teaching?

the GOP has social plans that are just different, what we have now hasn’t worked, it is time to rethink what we are doing.

the democrats will need more money for their policies than a rich tax will provide, even Sanders admits the middle class will have to pay, why are the rest of the Dems not telling the truth?

nothing is free, someone has to pay for it.

the Dems haven’t been truthful on other issues either, ObamaCare was lied about from the start. look at Benghazi, fast and furious, etc.

If you divorce yourself from the media, you will have a chance to think independently. The media (knowingly or otherwise) is silently programming your thoughts.

The primary goals of all major political parties are similar. The difference is in how those goals are to be achieved. There are pro-life and pro-death candidates in both parties. Is it 50-50? By no means, yet we are called to vote after employing the virtue of prudence.

It’s not just the issue of abortion. The democratic platform Is actively Anti-God and anti-religion, they are working to push God out and are cheering about it. I could personally never vote that way. The whole “being for the working man while republicans are for the rich” is just a stereotype anyway.

But can you vote for the democrats, who support abortion, euthanasia, anti-biblical gender ideology, homosexual marriage, breaking the seal of confession, and the overall eradication of any notion of God from public society, and feel as if you’re still Christian either?

The best point of advice that I can give is to follow your conscience. It’s great that you desire to exercise your civic duty! Not all do. Now that you want to vote, you must do your part and learn about the candidates and the issues. Some people may tell you that you can’t vote for a certain party because X or because Y. Personally for me, I tend to dismiss party affiliations. It is important to look into what each candidate supports and familiarize yourself with certain non-negotiable issues that the Catholic Church holds (such as abortion, euthanasia, and gay marriage for example). After considering a candidate’s stances on each non-negotiable issue, you must decide who to support. I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as some people make it. Catholics have a moral obligation to vote for pro-life candidates as well as pro-environment candidates (as best as they can), even if these issues aren’t moral equivalents. I often find supposedly pro-life candidates support policies that harm the environment or vice-versa. I weight these issues each election and then make a moral decision. In the end, I sometimes vote for candidates I may disagree with more than I agree with them, but on the issues that we agree, they align more closely with the non-negotiable issues than the other candidates.

Hold on. This is not an ambiguous question! No you may Not vote Democrat when you are Catholic. There are many apologetics to answer the questions, but , honestly, despite any other issues, you cannot support any person who approves of killing innocent babies. Period . Vote for Joshmo, or yourself. Do not vote for a murderer. That’s God’s law. That’s Catholic ❤️

I would suggest that you do the equivalent of an examination of concience for the platforms and behaviors of both parties, perhaps ranking various issues in importance, then decide who to support.

I am in accord with the church. I am against abortion, contraception, premarital sex, and homosexual marriage. I am against medical and surgical treatment of minors to help them “transition” gender. I feel it is very serious to bear false witness such as was done to Justice Kavenaugh. I find it disturbing to hide or benefit from predatory actions such as by Epstein and Weinstein. I am against religious persecution, and against denying the religion of most Americans, such as by removing God’s name from traditional use on buildings, currency and oaths of office. As such, I am a Republican.

You can do your own evaluation and see where you end up.
