Reagan and JPII, the 2 people with almost sole responsibility for the west winning the Cold War and the end of soviet tyranny.

RIP. 2 wonderful men.

The refusal of people to go into quarantine has cost thousands of lives.

The refusal of medical bureaucracy accelerate the research has cost thousands of lives.

The refusal of governments to cancel airplane flights has costo thousands of lives.

Really, Americans? The world is burning and you enter in some rethoric for economic compensation? Can’t you tender to the pandemic? Can’t you not cast out the beam out of your own eye before casting out the one of the others?
All evidences show that this virus started in either a bio lab in Wuhan or in a wet market in Wuhan. It is Red China that hid and suppressed all the data that eventually have infected and killed tens of thousands of people everyday right now. The world is doing their very best to respond and blunt the spread of the virus—and to save lives. Nations are victims of this mismanagement and mis-information from Red China. People died and lives are ruined.

Viruses have been leaping from other species to humans ever since we started living closely with other species about 15 thousand years ago. It could happen tomorrow in a US feedlot for cattle.

I should add that eating things is not how this virus is transmitted to or between humans.
Struck a cord with me. I drove past such a questionable feed lot twice, last month. Gonna happen. What we can do is (not us, but our medical health officers) put due effort into reading communiques from reliable scientific sources, then act accordingly.

On a side note:
why is the western media on all sides making out that this could have been avoided if
Why are we making the western media our main source of [dis]information?

Radio Free Asia reports the death toll in china at 400,000.
More like 3,326 as of today. How about using credible sources, like Johns Hopkins University, for statistics?

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

(The link to JHU is within the link I posted above, is hard to view on cell phone.)

Although the quick collective response of a uniform, nation-wide lock down makes me wonder if the communists had a hand in bio-engineering the virus.
Skimming through some of the scientific reports referenced in The Lancet point to ruling out a lab origin.

China lies. I can only say it so many times. China provides these figures as if they’re gospel. No one credible believes them.

Some folks must by necessity rely on them.

Do you personally believe what the China government tells you?

Do you believe China when they say had zero covid deaths in the Wuhan province in the month of March?

Johns Hopkins just simply reported what Red China has “reported” to them. China’s numbers have been highly disputed by independent observers and Wuhan residents themselves. See link below:

Excerpts from the article;

“Looking at cremations conducted by area funeral homes, Radio Free Asia estimates the true death toll from the virus to be 46,800 in the city home to the outbreak’s origin. China, however, is reporting the total death rate at 2,500. That’s far less than the 5,000 urns recently sent to one Wuhan funeral home, according to the Chinese news outlet Ciaxin.

@Crocus

I’m sure John Hopkins is compiling the data it receives accurately but it is completely reliant on the data it receives from around the world. It’s impossible for a secondary source to be accurate if the primary source is not.

If we can’t trust Johns Hopkins to report reliable data from world scientists published in The Lancet and we cannot trust the scientists who provide credible reports, then we are all … blind, deaf, lame.
Johns Hopkins just simply reported what Red China has “reported” to them.
Johns Hopkins just simply reported what The Lancet reported to them. Check out their credentials. Compare with The Federalist.

Not just the Federalist—Time Magazine, Business Insider, National Review, 60-minute Australia, etc… have reported them. The 3,362 number is just not credible.

I rest my case.
How do you figure that? And you trust the numbers reported from Lancet and Red China—while rejecting reports from The Federalist, National Review, Time Magazine, Business Insider and 60-minute Australia…

None of those sources is nowhere near as reliable in the fields of science and medicine as the Lancet or Johns Hopkins. They just regurgitate what the read, or often enough what they think they read, in peer-reviewed sources, often with their own spin added.

And you trust the 3,362 deaths number from China???

Wait, Johns Hopkins medical staff went to China and independently verified these numbers? First I’m hearing of this

No one is to ‘blame’ for a virus leaping species and mutating.
If that is what actually happened, then to the extent that it was in the course of nature, you would be correct. However, the Chinese local government hid the truth, denied that the virus could be transmitted person to person, silenced doctors who were trying to report the matter, and there is mounting evidence that the true known figures of infections and deaths still have not been given.

In short, at the local level the Chinese government did all it could to hide everything, and when it could not hide it, the evidence indicates that the facts still have not been revealed.

And that put the world in danger. 204 countries are reporting cases; many of them are so ill prepared to handle serious cases that no one can predict how this will be resolved.

There are now over 1, 074,290 known cases world wide - and that is only known cases. True cases would include those who are symptomatic but not going to a doctor or a hospital, as well as those who are asymptomatic but contagious.

Plus, didn’t Chinese government admit its man-made? Did they not allege that a foreign military brought it to China? Thus they’ve already seemingly conceded its man-made, which was a stunning admission.

If I was to pick a theme for 2020, it’d be “don’t trust China”.

In Europe various countries are finding that Protective Gear shipped from China is substandard. A shipment of tests coming into Europe was also found to be contaminated with the virus.

The Chinese Communist Party are a horrible totalitarian dictatorship and we should believe nothing that they say about anything. The sooner they are recognised by the international community for what they really are the better.

Crocus, John Hopkins University doesn’t have secret agents around the world verifying data. They are a data collector. They collect data that is reported to them and put it into a platform to view.

You are putting a level of trust in their data that they themselves would deny. If you asked them, I am positive they would tell you that they are a data collector and that their data needs to be further verified and interpreted. That’s just basic stuff.
