After 8 years of Clinton appointees to the Court, and the Repubs (and the Dems) won’t have to worry about their future because their presence in congress and most other political offices will be meaningless. Executive orders, approved by a compliant Supreme Court, will rule the land and we won’t need U.S. legislators or state governors any more. It’s not even the lesser of two evils. There are some on the right who view Clinton as what you’d expect, but view Trump as a very damaging commodity long term for both the right’s agenda and the Republican party. Better to get rid of him quickly right now, then have to drag on with him for 4 or heaven forbid, 8 years. Never mind any even longer term damage.
And never mind the constitution. Bill Clinton’s appointee, Ginsburg, opined that the U.S. Constitution is “outmoded” and that another model should be put in place for it. She rather preferred the constitution of India, which is so vague that it’s just whatever the prevailing court thinks it ought to be. Once the Democrats have a solid majority on the Supreme Court composed of like-minded justices, that’s what we’ll have.
