Gun ownership is a Constitutional right in this country. Banning gun ownership is not an option.

It is a waste of time to talk about banning guns, it is not going to happen. Even Obama will not go there. It is more worthwhile to talk about having better mental health services to spot problems early on

Mexico has strict gun control. We aren’t like that now but in ways we could have the same kinds of problems.

They may have strict gun control on the books but not in practice at all. The cartels practically control the country because the government won’t do anything not because they’re doing too much.

Or how about the over-prescribing of psychotropic drugs and dope. I’m waiting to find out if this shooter was on SSRI or Adderall drugs (like Columbine shooters) or marijuana (Gafford’s shooter). I guarantee you he was some sort of drugs prescribed or dope.

It amazes me the nation is obsessed with painkillers (nobody ever murdered because they took too much Vicodin) but ignores marijuana and psychotropic drugs.

Driving is regulated and the rules enforced far more than gun ownership. You can be pulled over and questioned for just looking suspicious. Nothing happens if you buy your own personal arsenal.

As I’ve mentioned; require psychological screening in the permit process, introduce legal liability to gun vendors who sell to suspicious or otherwise unqualified individuals, restrict sales of ammunition without demonstration of legitimate purpose, etc.

Applying for a drivers license is more difficult than getting a gun and, as I said, its more heavily regulated and the rules enforced. So, no.

Unless we have changed and converted hearts (leading to a changed and converted culture), we have no means to stop or even slow the evil.

Yet, from the fighting going on in this thread, it is obvious that we are not remotely close to the day when we turn to God.

THE ANSWER IS JESUS. There is no other solution. People are so filled with the desire to fight for their own wordly agendas, that they cannot allow themselves to see truth.

And far more people are killed on the roads than by guns. That regulation is really working there.

Through accidents, many caused by weather conditions. People don’t go out and buy cars for the sole purpose of barreling over 18 kids or to drive into a movie theatre and run over a dozen people. You are exponentially more likely to get blown away by a psycho with a gun than intentionally mowed down by a motorist.

As little as 2 generations ago, in times of much greater poverty, my grandparents used to sleep at night with both doors open for “air conditioning”. We got here from there; we can certainly get there from here.
