No one wants “to give a gun to every lunatic who wants one.” The question is: how do we go about preventing that? For liberals, part of the solution is enforcing tougher gun laws. We realize, however, that is not the whole solution.

There’s a problem with pulling out one teaching to support a personal view and ignoring other teachings from the men of the Church. There’s a middle ground to this problem and it doesn’t necessitate assault style weapons, easily obtained by anyone. Most of these incidents are from people without records that prevent them from getting guns.
If you are convinced we are on the Titanic, then there is no reason to do anything, just wait to sink. Fatalistic.
Why would it be hard to do? I would not be opposed to all of my grand kids teachers carrying. Look at every incident where there were mass shootings. There were also signs that banned guns on those premises. Why do people target these places? Because they know that no one will be shooting back. The signs are an invitation…
No what my point is, is this call over guns is futile because the problem is the culture. Perhaps I should use my other figurative language: putting new sails on a rotting ship.
Exactly! And they need to have some sort of realistic plan of action (kept secret) for what to do when something like this happens other than wait for the police to show up because by that time it’s too late.
I agree it is the culture. However, the left does NOT think it is the culture, so we use that to gain a small step forward toward a real culture of life.
Then it’s acceptable to send them out to other places; malls, theaters, etc.? Arming teachers, storekeepers, ushers, etc. is no the solution to the problem. It’s just throwing more guns out there, and in some instances to be taken away and used when they otherwise wouldn’t be used.
It would be hard to get support for it, but it would be the right way to go. If a teacher would like to carry, he/she should be allowed to. They don’t have to be forced to, but should not be prevented from it.

Yeah we are doomed. This society cannot continue and guess what? I await the collapse and doomsday with open arms. Because it will end this disgusting evil society we live in.
Better to have one in the classroom who is aiming for the shooter than only having a shooter who is aiming for the kids.

Wow–what an awful attitude. Jesus does not call us to such pessimism. Think of the days when Christians lived in catacombs, thank God that they did not give-up like you are.
So, do we legalize drinking and driving? That would only create a larger problem. Solutions may not completely stop a problem, but we have to slow the leak the best we can.
Do you think the principal or district superintendent of the school should have any say in the matter of whether their employees, including teachers and other staff, are armed or not?
