There are also some very good non catholic artists.
I love Stephan Curtis Chapman. I love his song “Whatever” He is an incredible songwriter.
Also *Mercy Me * and *Casting Crowns * have a good sound.

We also have a very good local musican. He’s just getting started but he recently composed his own mass, and is getting published.

Matt Maher…he is just great. You can tell he’s Catholic just from listening to his lyrics. Listen to “The End and the Beginnning”…it’s all about the Eucharist.

Curtis Stephan…also wonderful and I am lucky enough to belong to the parish where he is music director 😃

Josh Blakesley…very good too!!!

go to www.spiritandsong.com to hear all of these guys and alot of other Cathoilic artists.

I’m listening to Spirit and Song radio right now. Very cool.
I can’t believe I forgot Curtis Stepan. He is really good.
That is great that he is so involved in parish ministries. I guess alot of them are.

Janelle, I can listen to her any time. If I was at least 20 years younger it would probably be Seven Sorrows.

May God bless and protect us,
JLC

Matt Maher (When is his new album coming out?)
Sarah Hart
John Michael Talbot !!!

I love Curtis Stephan. I also belong to the same parish, so I’ve been blessed to hear his style develop over the years. I was actually in the holy hours where he received the inspiration for a few of his songs on the “Through the Storm” album. I cannot describe how awesome it is to hear the Holy Spirit working through someone like that.

Jesse Manibusan is also a Catholic singer/songwriter living in the Dallas area and he is great. He is originally from the South Pacific. His music is in many languages and styles. He and Curtis co-wrote and performed the theme song for the Nat’l Catholic Youth Conference 2005, “Winds of Change” in English and Spanish. It is on Curtis’ latest album “Sacred Revolution.”

We had Caeli Rain do a summer concert at the parish and they were a lot of fun. Very lively Catholic music.

For non-Catholic, I like Steven C. Chapman and Mark Schultz a lot. Both are great composers, not just singers so you hear their faith clearly in their music.

My personal favorite is the Irish singer, DANA.
I love her songs Lady of Knock, Totus Tuus, Little Baby, etc.
She has a beautiful voice.

Though most people take issue with how he lived his life and don’t recommend him aas a sterling example of Catholic living, its hard to argue against the influence of Frank Sinatra.

What about:
Fr. Stan Fortuna
Donna Cori Gibson
Lynn Cooper

…and whatever happened to News At Eleven? They had ONE CD and nothing since!

Peter Wright:

If we’re going there, then Bing Crosby was WAY better, artistically speaking.

Rich Mullins (he was a couple of weeks from coming in to full communion when killed in car crash)
Wow I didn’t know that…that is so cool…what a great life he lived. I like Scarecrow & Tinmen. I think they are Catholic? Thanks for the link stbruno.

I didn’t know there were any Catholic musicians with solid Catholic beliefs. I didn’t think they existed.

Yes, they’re Catholic!

Donna Cori Gibson is the first Catholic music artist that I discovered a few years ago. Beautiful voice. I’ve made a hobby of searching the internet for new Catholic artists and songs. I like traditional songs but also like the older songs sung in new contemporary style. There are some Catholic artists and bands that are too rock for me, but sometimes they may have a song or two that I like. I prefer songs that are about the sacraments, saints and Catholic prayers.

Donna Cori Gibson
Angelina (I love her “I Can Only Imagine”)
Fr. Stan Fortuna (Just downloaded a beautiful 1 minute “Glory Be” from itunes).
Annie Karto
Mark Mallett
Susan Bailey
Aaron Thompson - ( I like “Mary, Pray for Me”)
Delores Park
News At Eleven
