Maybe unrelated but I just found out that AMazon.com is releasing on June 20 99 Essential Chants (a collection of Gregorian and Orthodox Chant) for only 99 cents total. I feel this is the perfect recession proof gift for Father’s Day.
I don’t know contemporary Catholic music but I love good old Gregorian chant.
 
My 3 favorite Christian musicians, one very newly acquired, are: John Michael Talbot, Fernando Ortega, and, most recently, Christoph Franz. They’re all acoustic singer-songwriter types, which, if I listen to contemporary Christian/Catholic music at all, I prefer to the more raucus hip-hop and rock genres.
 
I LOVE Matthew West, especially More and The Motions. You could also pick up Wow Hits. It’s a mix of Christian music and has some very good songs.

Audrey Assad. Very recently discovered here music since their offering a free track on itunes from her this week and a discounted album price (not sure when it began or ends). She has a very beautiful voice and converted to Catholicism just a few years ago. I even listened to here music on the way to mass today, or I guess yesterday technically… but anyway great Christian music from a Catholic girl.

Cool! I didn’t know she was Catholic, although i have heard her on the Christian radio i listen to. I’ll have to listen a little more closely to her now - i love Christian music and am excited to see some Catholics getting major attention now (well only one actually that i can think of that’s really getting “mainstream” Christian-Radio popularity - Matt Maher). Check out a catholic musician who is a phenomenal youth minister and writes awesome catholic music. His name is Justin Stroh. He wrote the theme songs for our youth camp 2009 and 2010. He is amazing!

"The Motions" is one of my favorites too.
I also like Casting Crowns with** “Until The Whole World Hears”** and "East To West"
 
I like Martyr, by Theocracy - I heard of this Christian Prog Metal band just a week ago or so, and I think that their songs can be a little hit or miss, but that one is very enjoyable for me.
