I haven’t been voting lately, but the Democrats have to go. Obama cannot stay in office.

Very easy actually. I have a deep faith in God. I am a Christian. Jesus Christ I believe is my Lord and Savior. I love Him with all my heart and strive to follow Him to the best I can according to my understanding of Him. The Democratic President Barack Obama is also a Christian having been baptized in the United Church of Christ, marrying in the UCC, and he and his wife Michelle having had their children baptized as well. I’ve attended many Catholic Masses in my yrs. May begin attending a non Catholic Christian service. The Democratic President and his family have attended St John’s Episcopal near the White House where they have worshiped God and received communion.

But I recognize not everyone in America shares my faith. We are a society of many beliefs as well as non belief . So I have no problem with it. I also believe neither of the 2 US political parties is perfect. But in my view the Democratic Party, while granted not perfectly, better represents the social justice message of Jesus, care for the poor and the sick, and on issues of war and peace. Thank God American combat has ended in Iraq. And it is a party not expecting the poor to sacrifice with severe budget cuts while at the same time raising defense spending and not be willing to ask the rich to give more.

I hope this helps you understand better how any Christian could. God bless us all regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, creed, or non creed. And God bless the United States of America.
I can sympathize with anyone that would vote for the democratic party, it has been known for a long time for the party of social justice; however it is not the party it was 20 or even 30 years ago.

How can anyone that claims to be a follower of Christ look at the party now and have a bit of disgust when looking at it.

It has support rampant abortions and now stands for gay marriage. Also as a a soldier in the United States army I can truly tell to that Democrats are just as war happy as Republicans. They just say something different then they write down.

Will this finally make Catholics who vote Deomocrat wake up to what that Godless organization is really all about?
Sadly, probably not. Left leaning Catholics long ago made their peace with their post-Christian brothers with whom they share a love of big government.

Not a whole lot more than what we knew prior to this move.

**Bishop Calls on All Christians to Leave Democratic Party.
**
Bishop E.W. Jackson is making a war cry: Let Gods people go!

Jackson, a Marine Corps veteran, graduate of Harvard Law School and adjunct professor of law, is echoing the words of Moses in a campaign to persuade Christians of all races that the time has come for a wholesale exodus of Christians from the Democrat Party.

The former candidate for U.S. Senate in Virginia points to what he calls the Democrat party’s cult-like devotion to abortion; the rejection of the traditional biblical model of family; the hostility hurled at those who express a Christian viewpoint such as Chick-fil-A president and Chief Operating Officer Dan Cathy; the actions of organizations such as the ACLU and the Foundation For Freedom From Religion in suing cities and towns for displaying crosses at memorials or mentioning the name Jesus in prayer at official events.

Possibly one could believe this of the modern Dem party if it actually did care for the poor and the sick and the issues of war and peace, and if its expressed desire to “tax the rich more” actually served a purpose and actually taxed the rich.

But it doesn’t do any of those things. During the period when it could have done anything it wanted to do, did it improve the only income the disabled poor have; SSI? No. Did it do anything to help those dependent on Medicaid? No. It added more people to it, crowding those who are already having trouble getting providers to see them. Did it encourage those in a position to hire poor people to do it? No, it discouraged that. Did it hand over the “clunkers” to the various welfare agencies so the poor could drive to work or to the doctor or to school? No. It destroyed them. It promises to make utility bills “skyrocket” on poor people who can least afford it. (They don’t need to be warm, after all.) It expanded the fruitless war in Af/Pak and went to war against a Libya that wasn’t threatening this country or any other and, but for fear of the Russian paper tiger, would be warring against Syria right now.

For the sake of the myth that the Dem party does somehow stand for social justice, it asks us to suspend conscience and accept the degradation of marriage and the killing of the unborn. And we think, somehow, that it’s a good exchange?
I couldn’t agree more!!

I don’t see it that way.
Just because the word “God” isn’t there, doesn’t mean He’s being avoided…He’s there for all to see. The words in those paragraphs are very passionately talking about God in many different forms. You are bothered only because the word “God” is not there?
This way is a more creative, descriptive way of saying “God”, imo.
I think we are bothered by the complete disregard of God’s laws.

The standard way of listing the date in those days…remember how many deists were among the founders. I dare say a few atheists. BTW, many in those days also referred to royalty as Lord. Flowery language from a different era.

Again, a tradition at that time. Even the old blue laws have not been gone that long.

Where is the word God mentioned? That was the issue wasn’t it?

John
Blue laws are actually still around in many places, like here.

Not that many according to Adherents.com:

Of the signers of the Declaration of Independence only 2 were deists (Jefferson & Franklin) “The signers were those individuals who happened to be Delegates to Congress at the time… The signers possessed many basic similarities. Most were American-born and of Anglo-Saxon origin. The eight foreign-born… were all natives of the British Isles. Except for Charles Carroll, a Roman Catholic, and a few Deists, every one subscribed to Protestantism. For the most part basically political nonextremists, many at first had hesitated at separation let alone rebellion.”

Of those who signed the Constitution, one: Franklyn

I don’t see how that justifies the Democrats abandoning God in their platform though.

What a lovely preparation for Cardinal Dolan’s appearance. Banishing God – just the thing to set the stage for a prayer of Benediction.

Rethinking watching the DNC. Watched for a whole hour and can summarize it in a few words.

Barack Obama
Obstructionist Republicans
Barack Obama
Reproductive Health Care
Barack Obama
Gays
Barack Obama
Health Care
Barack Obama

Do they really need to say his name 50 times in each speech? It is nausiating.

Was hoping to hear some good ideas come from the DNC, but instead it’s really bad speeches made up of a series of soundbites with Barack Obama inserted every three words.

Reminds me of a Stewart Smalley self help group. “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and gosh darn it people like me”

I’m only going to watch a handful of the keynote speakers, as I did for the RNC. There is no need to torture myself.

When, did they banish God? They simply removed a word.

Personally, I have far more faith in the almighty than to think that a simple statement would offend him.

I cannot fathom why so many Dems claim that the Romney/Ryan ticket “revives old failed policies…” On what do you base this? Which policies and how did they fail? The financial meltdown was NOT a result of Bush’s policies if that’s what you are going to claim. Further Bush was thrust into being a wartime president, something he had not planned. Neither Romney or Ryan have expressed an interest in “nation building” or lengthy involvement in wars.

Bush’s not a conservative and like the moderate wing of the party, tends to like “big government” solutions: No Child Left Behind, Medicare Drug Benefit etc. Where in the Romney Ryan plank is another big government entitlement? In fact Romney has said on day one he would focus on the REPEAL of Obamacare.

Much as Bush was reviled for being “in the pocket of big oil” the reality is that he didn’t PUSH drilling or provide further incentives for oil and gas companies. He didn’t work to overturn the ban on drilling in Anwar…something I HOPE is on Romney’s agenda. What I do know is that he is emphasizing energy independence and developing our resources as well as cooperating with our friends like Canada rather than pandering to the environmentalists.

I think either the Dems don’t mind lying or they live in alternative universe.

Lisa
The dems just throw out phrases like that without actually knowing what the heck they are even talking about. I’d love to see a list of these specific “failed policies of the past” and which ones Romney is planning on revitalizing.

Either way, Obama is the one reviving the failed policies of yesteryear, literally. Like, the ones he apparently drew up on a napkin and tried to implement the last three years. Now that’s failed policies, and we get more. Yes!

I’d type more, but everyone’s favorite dissident, Kommissar Sebelius is speaking. I need to jot down some notes in case I ever get an audience with the Pope.
