He was referring to the Republicans, not advocating a strategy…though both sides use this tactic liberally.

I never heard a personal attack on Obama at the RNC. Yes, his policies were attacked.

You don’t need to preach to me what Christians see. I’m one of the many Christians.

Abyssinia, the further injury you speak of here from the Exodus 21 verses was if the mother lost her life. If that occurred the penalty was life for life as you have rightly stated. And as you showed then the penalty if the mother lost her life was more severe than if the fetus lost its life.

22If men quarrel, and one strike a woman with child, and she miscarry indeed, but live herself: he shall be answerable for so much damage as the woman’s husband shall require, and as arbiters shall award.

23But if her death ensue thereupon, he shall render life for life. (Douay Rheims)
 
The Catholic Church does not pander to a political party, but does defend the unborn, the born, and the dead.

First step to defend life:
Make sure they are BORN. How can you have welfare programs to help the sick, the needy, or the widow if their most basic right, life, is denied. That is like saying we need to make a parking lot in the middle of rural Africa because the traffic.

Second step to defend life:
Get involved! Help them, help those who need it. Get them back on their feet, teach them to fish by example, give them food, give them clothing, but more important TEACH them how to keep it. We need to allow them to be born, and we also need to show them how to live.

Last step to defend life:
Pray for the dead, attend mass, honor the saints that have come and still “live” among us. We need to remember the teachings of the Saints, of our Popes, not our elected politicians.

I do not understand the audacity of any Catholic who denies these basic steps to life. How can someone honestly say they are a true and honest Catholic yet deny the person’s right to be BORN, to LIVE, and to COMMUNION WITH GOD.

Besides God being at the DNC last night in many speeches, what you aren’t being told by your sources is there is a whole section in the platform about faith and the importance of faith. God bless.

Yes, a great many references to the humanity of the unborn child. It is and has been intuitively obvious that a pregnant women is “with child.” Now, embryology has confirmed for a long time was was intuitively obvious for centuries–a new human being begins at conception.

But since 1973, despite the embryology, despite knowing that it is an unborn child, not a blob of tissue, there has been a concerted effort to dehumanize the unborn child. Why dehumanize the unborn child? Because then we can kill it.

It’s deplorable, and the Democratic Party has adopted the dehumanization and killing of the unborn as official pary policy.

That makes them simply unacceptable.

I, too, find absolutely incomprehensible the idea of a mother conveying to her girls the idea that killing your unborn child is acceptable. The fact that unfettered “abortion rights” is one of the “go to the mat” issues for an American political party is appalling.

We can only take comfort in the fact that the pendulum is swinging back towards valuing life, no matter how shrill the pro-abortion voices.

My political views are decidedly “Catholic social teaching” and neither Democratic nor Republican, but this is my non-negotiable issue.

Yes, it is both astonishing and sad that this has become one of the DNC’s must-cling-to issues: No matter what, we must have the right to kill our babies! Just astonishing.
