Besides God being at the DNC last night in many speeches, what you aren’t being told by your sources is there is a whole section in the platform about faith and the importance of faith. God bless.
Actually the sources did mention that and we did discuss that briefly earlier (it is classic post-Christian language). But it is interesting that when God is removed, the argument is that it was only pandering, but when God is mentioned, it’s an actual presence. You need to get your story straight.

Indeed. We can have Christmas even when the Democrats burn churches and shoot priests in the street.
No doubt any Christmas services will in the future have to be conducted by the HHS-sponsored Catholic Patriotic Association!! 😉

The problem is not if we need political speech ends with “God Bless America” or not.
The problem lies at a party’s core principle to be godless and that party persecutes the Church and ruins religious freedom. This is not hard to understand.

Yes, it is both astonishing and sad that this has become one of the DNC’s must-cling-to issues: No matter what, we must have the right to kill our babies! Just astonishing.
I am not watching the DNC for my own mental and physical health. I am not saying this to be snarky. I am serious. The Dems have gone so far off the rail with their abortion on demand, anytime and as often as one desires. The same for sex with whomever one desires. What a sad commentary on the moral state of our country that these issues are up front and center at this convention. It really is nauseating. God have mercy on our country.:sad_yes:

Very inspirational speech. Unfortunately she herself must not look deeply enough into what she is saying because if she truly believed a lot of what she was saying she would never approve of abortion and forcing others to do things against the dictates of their conscience.
When I read her closing:
Because today, I know from experience that if I truly want to leave a better world for my daughters, and all our sons and daughters…if we want to give all our children a foundation for their dreams and opportunities worthy of their promise…if we want to give them that sense of limitless possibility – that belief that here in America, there is always something better out there if you’re willing to work for it…then we must work like never before…and we must once again come together and stand together for the man we can trust to keep moving this great country forward…my husband, our President, President Barack Obama.
All I could think about was all the sons and daughters who will never have a chance, who are being forced to not even have a voice, let alone live according to their conscience.Michelle Obama, if you really are into helping everyone, the weakest among us, why not start with helping those who do not have a voice and giving them a chance to live the American dream like you and President Obama have had the blessing of being able to. Now that would be sacrifice and TRUE unconditional love for everyone.

In a social media age, this could indicate that they are reaching the intended audience.

John
Perhaps. I don’t know that it tells us too much. A) What are the demographics of the Twitter users? B) Were the tweets positive or negative? For example, if Republicans use Twitter less, than it would explain the lower numbers.

Just comparing tweets/minute is pretty meaningless. 🤷

Ya, right, so now his people are using it.

I never heard a personal attack on Obama at the RNC. Yes, his policies were attacked.
I thought of ONE. And it wasn’t a Republican politician. And half the sentence wasn’t even uncomplimentary.

“We don’t have to be – what I’m saying, we do not have to be metal masochists and vote for somebody that we don’t really even want in office just because they seem to be nice guys …. or maybe not so nice guys .… if you look at some of the recent ads going out there, I don’t know.” – Clint Eastwood

" … maybe not so nice guys," possibly includes Biden in the mix “they” – unless he meant the President and “other Democratic candidates” more broadly, but definitely he meant the (man in the empty chair). Personal attacks that begin with “maybe” usually aren’t firmly in the “vicious” category.

Attribution of the quote to Examiner.com. I thought the word “metal” was “mental” - though each makes sense. “Metal” calls to mind “metal” music, a rock genre that often explores the “dark side” of life which would include masochism, logically. “Mental masochism” would also make sense as in - beating oneself up over voting against Obama (for any variety of reasons).

Absolutely correct…in fact, NPR has stories on both Romney and Ryan’s dances with the facts…you can follow the same link and find them.

John
i wouldn’t believe what i heard on NPR like i wouldn’t believe what i heard on MSNBC.

The Democrats want to allow women to abort thereby preventing births; the Republicans want to allow the children to be starved and neglected after they are born.
What baloney. Where did you get that bit of info? Tell me which Republican has worked toward the starvation and neglect of children?

Yes, and they removed the Fact Check that Ryan’s Janesville plant comment was false.

*My eleven year old daughter and I would not agree with you. Even she noticed that the DNC did not have the life to it that the RNC had. The DNC seemed stagnant and dead. and filled with death trying to resusitate it’s self. They just do not realize yet that only God can give them the life they are trying to grasp and untill they do they will be stuck in that suffocating choking dying atmosphere of trying to pray upon others by controling them that they are stuck in.

I did watch the poor mother who testified on behalf of Obamacare and how here daughter can now have the care she needs because of it. My heart went out to the poor woman standing there and it ached not just for the pain she is in worrying about health care for her child but also about how exploited we can become when we do not know the facts and are used to try and push forth a sugar coated agenda that is out to enslave all mankind and strip them of ever being able to live freely according to their conscience. After all, from what I have read from several posters on these forums, was not Obamacare rooted in Romneycare? The difference that I have come to understand between the two of them is Romneycare gives her more options as to what kind of care she desires where Obamacare dictates what kind of care one can have. She may be getting care but I wonder if she could be getting better care under a Romneycare program verses an Obamacare program.

Another thought I had watching the DNC was how Nancy Keenan President of NARAL tried to say that abortion was about woman’s choice of treatment for her reproductive system. That is not what abortion is about. It is about the product of a woman’s and man’s reproductive system. It is called a baby. It has nothing to do with who they are at the moment of conception. It has it’s own DNA at the moment of conception. It is an individual just like them but entrusted to them by God for life. Abortion allows them to choose to kill that with which they have been entrusted with.
I wish and pray that the democratic party would stop trying to say people who are choosing life over abortion, even in cases of rape, are trying to “turn back the clock” and understand that it’s not about turning back the clock. It’s about moving forward with this clarification that all persons have a right to Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is about waking up and realizing even more deeply than we ever have before as to how sacred Life is and I believe the RNC Hit a home run that I believe made it all the way up into the book of life and drove the point strait home with making the point that all of us are created for a specific purpose and we are all made in the image of our Creator and that is Sacred. Win or loose this election, they can sleep with their conscience because they know they are making a stand for life, not death.
I hope and pray that when I die and I am face with the source of infinite Life, Mercy and Love that I will be able to live with my conscience for an eternity…

I am not trying to pick on you Mat and I am not sure if any of this makes any sense to you but I believe my daughter and I are seeing something really different than what you see and just thought I would share my two cents on it…*
👍 thank you for your well written post. i agree. the DNC speeches i heard last night seemed stagnant and empty. there was no life in their speeches. empty smiles.
no substance. i am not an expert on romneycare and what it was or what it proposed.
i did not hear the speech given by the mother, but i understand how quickly medical bills can grow and that our healthcare system is broken, but i don’t think obamacare is he answer. i liked what you said that romneycare gave you options, but obamacare dictates what kind of care you get.
thank for putting in your 2 cents! 🙂

Your posts are so sincere and touching. Thank you for taking the vitriol out and responding “mother to mother.”

I cannot fathom the hidebound determination to support abortion on demand…with an expressed hope of taxpayer support recently. Is this what the Democrat party truly stands for? That, gay marriage, removing God from the platform and dissing Israel while they’re at it. Oh and the denouncing of Hamas has disappeared as well.

When questioned about these changes in the '12 platform, a Dem operative dismissed this as a distraction assuring that Democrats are “people of faith.” Empty words given the line up of speakers.

BTW I reverse my previous positive comments regarding Cory Booker. Nasty, hateful, and dishonest. He must want back into the tent pretty bad.

Looking forward to what Bill Clinton has to say. Will be watching the football game though. I am sure it will be hashed and rehashed the following day.

Yep, the “fact checkers” have a rather checkered past and bias…

The latest is quoting Mitt Romney saying “Detroit Can Go Bankrupt” Except HE didn’t say that, it was a headline written by the NYT. Fine, attribute a philosophy or a position but don’t claim something is a quote when it’s simply made up.

i found her speech last night unimpressive because it seemed insincere. she wanted to make an inspirational speech but how much of it was sincere i don’t know.
her desire to be in the White House 4 more years was what i got out of her speech.
just knowing her thoughts on abortion make it hard for me to even listen to what she is saying. as another poster said - may God have mercy on our country!
thanks for your beautiful and thoughtful posts!
