I was shocked at the level of personal attacks made against Mitt Romney. Attacks against his policies is fine, but I heard a lot of personal smears.šŸ˜¦
Shocked by personal attacks? Might I suggest a different threadā€¦?

Are you serious? What is difference between being poor and what she said and implied?
I am deadly serious, and have seen nothing that contradicts Ms. Obamaā€™s statements. I included her actual statement and nowhere is the word poor used. She said that they did not have a great deal in material possessions.

She implied nothing, except to those who seek to twist her words into something sinister.

About 400000 less watched Michelle Obamaā€™s speech than Ann Romneyā€™s

NBC won the coverage, as it did for the RNC last week. But, its viewership was down 24% from '08. For its RNC coverage on the first night, viewership was actually 8% higher than '08. CBS and ABC have even starker declines, dropping 45% and 38% respectively, compared to '08. Their coverage of the RNC was down also, but a more modest 25% and 38% from '08.

Obviously, people donā€™t only view these events on the three broadcast networks. There is C-SPAN, and a number of cable news stations also carry the speeches. Still, the apples-to-apples comparison is striking. So, on the three broadcast networks, the RNC had more viewers. This, mind you, is before counting the viewers who watched on Fox News.

Of course, close observers of the political race shouldnā€™t be surprised. The Democrats have been facing a very significant enthusiasm gap among their voters. Obamaā€™s rallies take place in venues far smaller than those in 2008. This morning, the Dems even cancelled their plans for another big-stadium Obama speech to close out the convention. Of course, they cite the 30% chance of rain in the forecast as the reason for the move to a much smaller venue. Itā€™s a convenient excuse, since there had been reports organizers were struggling to fill the stadium.

2012 really is shaping up as the year of the Democrat downgrade.

When, did they banish God? They simply removed a word.

Personally, I have far more faith in the almighty than to think that a simple statement would offend him.

This sounds like the Democrat platform to me. They sure donā€™t seem to want to call on God to bless our nation.

Iā€™ll agree the Republicans may not be much better, but at least they are still talking about God and what offends Him. The Democrats donā€™t seem to care if they offend Him, maybe because they donā€™t believe He has any power over us. šŸ¤·

Indeed! And at that point, what makes the right unalienable? What the government gives you, the government can take away.

If there is no ā€œGodā€, to paraphrase Ronaldus Magnus, the federal govenment may be the closest thing on Earth to it.

The government giveth, the government taketh away, blessed be the name of government!

Interesting. I guess the prior report of twitter activity is not indicative of the number of eyes on the screen.

Thatā€™s rather weak, in my opinion.

You are making a distinction without a difference.

Well, if Rush said it, it must be true.

But, just in case:ā€¦hereā€™s the National Weather Service.

What a shame. Have they given out the numbers of people who wonā€™t have seats, since they are going to a smaller venue? Iā€™m guessing a lot of them flew in, have hotel rooms, rental cars, etc. It would stink to spend all that money and not get a seat you were expecting. How many people are being displaced?

How many people are being displaced?
I think the stadium held about 60,000ā€¦I imagine the arena is under 20kā€¦so about 40,000. Youā€™re right, I feel for those people who spent and planned for nothing.

John

I donā€™t know. And Iā€™m unsure of the percentage of Catholics in the US. But it does seem like some on this forum would like to make Catholic Church teaching on some things the law for the land. You have the same right as everyone else though to advocate for your positions.
For example, Matt? If you mean protecting babies, as many as possible, from the deadly scalpel, absolutely. That is a position borne of deep love for humanity, and the realization that each one of us is no different from those who are killed in utero. And if you are implying that we who hold human life sacred should not have to pay for the needless carnage, again affirmative.
Is THIS what you mean by a ā€œtheocracyā€? Well, you might say that for our first two centuries, most Americans lived in a ā€œtheocracyā€. But I suggest that a dictionary might be helpful here, b/c the word as you use it has become meaningless, as I understand it. Best, Rob

Iā€™m surprised there was no mention of these 40,000 in the news reports. None of them are commenting? No one is upset or disappointed? Weird.

Democrats removing the word ā€œGodā€ from their platform is not a winning idea. It has no chance of gaining any votes for the Democratsā€“so one has to wonder why they made the change. It is a net loss no matter how one looks at the issue.

Our Congessional candidate in Scranton, Laureen Cummings, was thrice accosted at a festival over the weekend, twice verbally and once physically, b/c she DARED to hand out palm cards to people. The leftists in America have truly spawned an ugly brood, the likes of which has been absent in America until recently. Itā€™s a vicious, self-centered crop of perpetual adolescents we see on display whose self-interest is their only end. Notice that no Democrat official EVER speaks out when a conservative is a victim of a brutal attack. For example, Obama accepted a million from Bill Maher AFTER Maher called Sarah Palin a c***! Of corse, remember how Obama himself called Sarah a ā€œpigā€, so itā€™s no surprise. :ouch: Blessings, Rob
