I’m sure many members of the Church will argue, however, that it’s not a choice between social-justice issues, such as caring for the poor and sick, and issues involving abortion and euthanasia. A faithful Catholic must be observant of all the Church’s teachings.
I’ll have to investigate more then I suppose Meltzer to see if Sister Simone is faithful. Another poster said she’s not taken seriously in the religion. I only know I liked her speech at the DNC.

what is everyone thoughts of the dems making funding abortion a part of their platform.

should this fact make it immoral to vote for any dem for this fact or should it still be based on their own personal view.

PS I along with many other Pro-Life Dems.
You are quite right Meltzerboy. Peace Carlan,
…and Pro-Life Republicans. All faithful Catholics believe we should care for the poor and vulnerable in our society.

There is no room in the Democrat party for those who are pro-life. Just as there is no room in the platform for God. They are the party of secularism. Government = god. Christians, Jews, Muslims, take note.

Psst…there are atheist Republicans…I know one personally that worked for GW Bush on both his campaigns. I’m sure he isn’t the only one.

True - caring for the poor and sick is what a faithful Catholic must do. What does caring for the poor and sick have to do with Democrat welfare policies that create more poor? How is promoting abortion and euthenasia in line with Catholic teaching? Its a no-brainer - a serious catholic simply can’t vote Democrat, given the Democrat party’s stance on the issues.

I don’t know. And I’m unsure of the percentage of Catholics in the US. But it does seem like some on this forum would like to make Catholic Church teaching on some things the law for the land. You have the same right as everyone else though to advocate for your positions.
The liberal media has driven home it’s laws into the minds of many Americans such that it’s Christianity that is being rejected, hence the religious freedom themes from the church. Maybe you should pray for a media culture that doesn’t reject religion rather than praying for a church that doesn’t reject the many people’s true lord and savior: the liberal media culture.

Some Christians wanted to make Christian morality the law of the land in the south during the 50’s and 60’s. Were they “pushing their morality on everyone else” and advocating a “theocracy” ?

Bill Clinton speaking now, same as always, calling out the Republican Party over and over. “They” this and “They” that. Blah blah blah.

The funniest thing so far is that he made a verbal pass at Michelle. :dts:

I have to give him credit for being a good speaker, and the message of cooperation between the parties was good. But, trying to claim that BO has a record of cooperation with Repubs is a very long reach. My imagination just doesn’t stretch that far.

EDIT: And is it just me or do some of the people there actually look bored?

I am confused… Doesn’t Obamacare take care of Everyone… including children and elderly?
Am I mistaken that Obamacare is for all… is it just for the people who don’t qualify for Medicare and Medicaid?:o

PS… How long does he get to talk anyway…

Yes, you are mistaken. It also doesn’t apply to anyone with a waiver, like the Amish, govt employees, etc.

He is going to talk until everyone is convinced that they should re-elect…him. :rotfl:
