It is the epitome of lazy reporting, at best. If it was a “secret” Swiss or Cayman Island account he’d be prosecuted for tax evasion. The only reason we know about it is that he propery disclosed the account.

The whole tax return argument has gone no where. I really liked Romney shutting down Harry Reid. I hope that one day Mr. Reid is required to come forward with his “source” about Nominee Romney’s taxes.
You can blame Charlie Rangel for enlightening us about this what happens when you try to cheat the IRS.

That’s why he did it from the Senate floor. He’s immune from lawsuits there. If he had made the same statement during a press release he could be sued for slander.

In California, there are more Republicans elected to high-level, statewide offices than there are Democrats. The same is true in Texas.

What Democrats have done infrequently in 20 years - elect minorities to lead or represent their entire states - Republicans did four times in the 2010 cycle alone, and will do again with Ted Cruz in November. Its a trend that the next generation of Latino, black, and Indian political talents can’t help but see.
That’s why I say talk is cheap. Obama’s talk got us where? Rhetoric is best left to well-monitored debates that follow the rules of logic.

Show me the money. So far the Dems have not shown us anything concrete just talk and who is the best talker.

I still don’t get how this had any business on the Senate floor.

I listed to both sides, and found his argument lacking.

The simple fact that the Democratic party invited the head of Planned Parenthood and Sandra Fluke to their convention is all the “educating” I need.
I agree with you that if the anti abortion and the anti contraception issues are deal breakers, then the only choice is Romney.

People my disagree with me, but unless he is RADICALLY different than any republican since 1960, and particularly different from any Republican president since Reagan, then there well be a very high economic and social cost to pay. Every republican from Reagan onward has increased debt dramatically by increasing spending while cutting taxes. Regan quadrupled, our debt for example. If you think Obama’s record in that respect is bad, just imagine what a Republican might have done. As Mr Clinton pointed out, the job creation record is double the number of jobs created during democratic presidencies, over republican presidencies. I could go on about the social cost of cutting benefits for seniors and poor children, which is precisely what Ryan has proposed.

So, to me, the ONLY reason to vote Romney would be because he is pro life. For some that is enough. For me it isn’t. There are other social justice issues too.

You can not avail yourself of social justice if you are dead.

I don’t think we need to open the pro choice vs pro life argument here.

I was just agreeing that those who make it a deal breaker, have no choice other than Romney.

Thanks for the clarification:)

You speak of debt and support of Obama in the same post?

Here are the ratios of deficit to GDP for the past five presidents:

Ronald Reagan
1981-88 4.2 %
1982-89 4.2
Average 4.2

George H. W. Bush
1989-92 4.0
1990-93 4.3
Average 4.2

Bill Clinton
1993-2000 0.8
1994-2001 0.1
Average 0.5

George W. Bush
2001-08 2.0
2002-09 3.4
Average 2.7

Barack Obama
2009-12* 9.1
2010-12 8.7
Average 8.9
*fiscal 2012 ends Sept. 30, 2012, so this figure is estimated

It appears we’re paying a pretty high economic (and social) cost now.

Indeed. Yet, let us not forget that the so-called glory years during the Clinton admin was actually given to us by a Republican Congress, which took control in 1994, and Clinton was smart enough to follow their lead.

WE must not forget that Clinton tried to implement his own version of health care reform through Hillary Clinton during the first two years of his Presidency. Imagine what his Presidency would have looked like had the GOP not taken control of Congress.

Fact check: Bill Clinton at the DNC

usatoday.com/news/politics/story/2012-09-06/clinton-fact-check-democratic-convention/57627036/1?csp=hf
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former president Bill Clinton’s stem-winding nomination speech was a fact-checker’s nightmare: lots of effort required to run down his many statistics and factual claims, producing little for us to write about.
Republicans will find plenty of Clinton’s scorching opinions objectionable. But with few exceptions, we found his stats checked out.

There, fixed it.

Actually, the receipts from individual income taxes (the only receipts directly affected by the Reagan tax cuts) went up 91.3 percent during the 80’s. The problem is that, for every additional $1 in revenue, Congress spent an additional $1.32

Who is wagering Obama will not mention debt in his speech and his pledge to cut the deficit in half by the end of his 1st term which he did at least 3 times?

I really think he has to. To leave it out would be a real mistake with those who can still be swayed. He has to look Presidential and let the chips fall where they may.

I still don’t get how this had any business on the Senate floor.
Because he could say it there and not be sued - that’s all the “reason” Harry needed.

I wonder when ABC will do a special on his Mormonism…

Just like President Reagan inherited…

Oh, nevermind.

I have friends at the convention. They paint the picture of the general atmosphere being “dismal”.

Watching what I have of the convention, I notice a certain leaning somewhere between a whine session and full blown, unhinged blame furor.

Clinton’s speech sounded like a cross between a State of the Union address and a stump speech for a 3rd Clinton term.

I guess that’s what you’re forced to work with when you have President Obama’s failing record (“incomplete” on the economy???)
the speakers stir the democrats into a state of frenzy. it is scary how people at the convention are so gullible to believe everything that is being fed to them. i guess they don’t mind being made fools of.

Paul Ryan Anticipates and Counters Obama’s Convention Speech Tonight
Just hours before the president takes the stage at the Democratic National Convention, Paul Ryan attempted to counter Obama’s speech by reminding voters in this battleground state of then candidate Obama’s promises in his 2008 speech in Denver.
“Right here in Colorado, four years ago with the Styrofoam Greek columns, the big stadium, the president gave this long speech with lots of big promises,” Ryan said. “He said … that Democrats have a very different measure of what constitutes progress. By those very measurements, his leadership has fallen woefully short.”
He’s not the only Republican candidate who’s referred to Obama’s Denver speech; Romney mentioned that before his own convention speech, he looked at Obama’s ’08 speech.
Ryan acknowledged that the president “can give great speeches,” but says Obama “can’t tell you [that] you are better off as a nation.”

Why do the Republicans lack the ethnic diversity of the Democrates?
From what I have seen, while the diversity may not be equal, there is more diversity than many of the networks are showing. In addition, many networks cut away to other things when any minority was speaking at the Republican convention. So people may not get the “whole picture”.

When the Media does such things, they are doing a disservice to the public.
