Ah okay. So the claim is that there was a huge cover up about the attack so as to not hurt the presidents chances at re-election. Got it.
Sarcasm? What else would be blaming this on a lame video?

Then you must never actually make a decision since “all the facts” are beastly difficult to find. However there is a huge amount of information on the Benghazi coverup. You can access the usual suspects, right and left and there should be sufficient information to make a decision. I believe this thread has a number of links and reports of testimony as well.

Short form, those with direct knowledge reported the attack as planned and carried out by Islamist elements, one with links to Al Qaeda. The original “talking points” indicated such. Copies of the various versions of these talking points have been published. There is an extensive article in the Weekly Standard

weeklystandard.com/articles/benghazi-talking-points_720543.html

This mostly deals with the subject of the thread. The other coverups included what Ambassador Stevens was doing in Benghazi, what the 30 some personnel were doing there, why the requests for aid before and during the attack were not honored, why haven’t the survivors been interviewed, why is the video maker still in jail; it is a target rich environment.

Happy reading!
Lisa
Thanks for the update. I’ll be sure to look into it more when I have the time.

I am not being sarcastic. I’m taking what I was told, shortinibg it, and removing political boas from the statement so I can better understand it

Boas Constrictors? So, when you have time, you will be seeing what Al Sharpton, Hillary Clinton, Chis Mattews or Debbie Wasserman Schultz say about this? I got it.

Bias* forgive my typos. Typing on an ipod. And I’ll be seeing what everyone says, so as to get a full picture. I’ll take what both sides say. Weigh the evidence presented, and come to my own conclusion. Hopefully without the snide remarks directed at either side of the political spectrum.

4 Americans died, violently died in a terrorist attack, the US diplomat tortured.

I certainly would not describe a story I’m not aware about of saying “I’ll check the story out when I have some time”. If I said this, I would not be respectful to these brave souls, an Ex-Navy Seal who may have saved up to 30 people. I would be displaying a flippant attitude.

It’s a personal policy of mine not be rash about blaming people. I take what everyone says, weigh them against each other, and figure out what happened. Hopefully without enotinally charged remarks.

If someone told me about a horrific event like the Boston Marathon Bombing, I wouldn’t just shrug my shoulders and say “I’ll see about it when I have some time.”

True. But if somebody then tried to tell me it was actually done by the government then I would try and look at it from all angles

As this thing unfolds today, you will see Hillery Clinton ingeneously find a way to weasel out of any culpability that will put a dent in her political asperations to be President.

Her ultimate adjenda is to railroad our country’s sovernty to the United Nations, but that will wait until about 2024.

Let me rephrase. I only noticed this whole “cover up” issue yesterday. I didn’t mean to say that I was unaware of the embassy attack. So I am a bit unclear on the cover up story going on.

Note: I prefer to reserve judgement on this kind of thing until I have all the facts straight.
Perhaps you might consider varying your news sources.

Actually that’s something Ive been saying for my last few posts. I haven’t kept up on the news as much as I should. My usual policy when something big like this breaks out is to check with as many news sources as I can, preferably news sources on both sides of the political spectrum.

Capitol Hill hearings this Wednesday on the consulate attack by jihadists will feature three witnesses, all State Department veterans: Gregory N. Hicks, deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya and highest-ranking U.S. diplomat in Libya at the time of the Benghazi attack; Mark I. Thompson, a former Marine who now serves as deputy coordinator for operations in the agency’s Counterterrorism Bureau; and Eric Nordstrom, a diplomatic security officer who was the top security officer in Libya.

One would expect Team Obama to brand these men as malcontents, incompetent and possibly question their sanity (all tactics he’s used in the past while president). Expect these attacks from lap dog reporters, twitter accounts and the State Department press office has already accused Mark Thompson of lying - an amazing charge considering he hasn’t even made a statement yet.

Does anyone remember the media response to the attack and to the fact that Ambassador Stevens had gone missing and turned up died?

The media response was the frothing anger at what Mitt Romney said of the attack, and when he said it. Even worse - Romney’s speculation was correct while the President and the State Dept told lie after lie.

:eek:You serious? I didn’t know that.

👍 Regardless of your political stance, these are the people who stand between us and those who want to do violence to Americans here and abroad. The former SEALs were told to stand down but because of their moral code and learned self sacrifice they focused on saving others and lost their lives in the process. What any of us think was the reason or the politics, I agree, have some respect…geez…

I do have respect, please don’t get me wrong. I just don’t feel comfortable pointing fingers about something that I, personally, have little information about. I don’t see why this stance is getting me so much flak.

Of course. Further Romney was strung up for his commentary regarding the Egyptian riots after the initial tweets from the Embassy appeared to blame America for the riots. Oh we’re so sorry we offended some Muslims…please don’t feel bad that you attacked our Embassy, it’s completely understandable…good grief!

That Mitt Romney commented on Egypt was then conflated to being disrespectful to Ambassador Stevens although at the time, his fate was unknown. And that he defended America was of course taken as unacceptable by the Apologizer in Chief.

Because your comment was flippant. This occurred eight months ago and there have been several hearings and committee reports. That your response was “oh I might get around to it…” sounded as if you didn’t really care that four Americans were brutally murdered while serving their country. There is a lot of information available and I believe you can distinguish between spin and the truth. The Weekly Standard article for example HAS the actual initial talking points, followed by several versions as the focus was changed from Islamic extremists to a YouTube video.

Notably Hayes fingers Ben Rhoades as the author of these changes. He has a degree in fiction writing and is a failed novelist. I guess truth is stranger than fiction. It is apparently a stranger to Mr Rhoades as well!

That is not how I meant it. I meant that I had only recently heard accusations of a cover up. I knew about the embassy attacks, I was also aware of the official story being that it was in reaction to a youtube video, but I hadn’t thought much about the story in a few months. So I was surprised when I heard it all coming back just yesterday. I had only recently been made aware of a possible cover up. My comment about “Reading more about it when I was less busy” meant just that. I am busy with school work and could not read all the links posted at the time because of it. Since I didn’t have much information about the cover up accusations, I intended to reserve judgement until I could further educate myself on the matter. If this is a “flippant” attitude, then so be it. I think it prudent.
