I’d show them this link on top of the other one I posted: http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/torture/torture-is-a-moral-issue.cfm
I think everyone understand your position very clearly. However, some of us listen to what the Church has said on the subject. This constant condemnation of third party voters is hardly giving them a break.Let me make it clear and simple as can be.
That’s not what the Bishops say at all.
how can abortion always be opposed if you can ignore it for other issues? they say abortion MUST ALWAYS be opposed in #28It doesn’t say “SHALL”.
Above all, the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights— for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture—is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination. (Christifideles Laici, no. 38)
- St. John Paul II explained the importance of being true to fundamental Church teachings:
27. Two temptations in public life can distort the Church’s defense of human life and dignity:
28. The first is a moral equivalence that makes no ethical distinctions between different kinds of issues involving human life and dignity. The direct and intentional destruction of innocent human life from the moment of conception until natural death is always wrong and is not just one issue among many. It must always be opposed.3
Support of abortion by a candidate for public office, some of whom are Catholics, even if they use the phony “personally opposed but” line, is reason sufficient unto itself to disqualify any and every such candidate from receiving our vote. (BISHOP WILLIAM MURPHY Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centr)
i see you have a new bishop since december 2016. i could not find a position on voting.Arlington, VA Diocese
The Church’s voter’s guide gives seven areas of concerns. Now if you and others want to follow other guides, as befit your conscience, then that is laudable. However, it is a complete reversal of logic to criticize Catholics for following the primary Catholic guide published by the Catholic Church.your single issue does not give you the right to ignore the 5 non-negotiables, but candidates should be disqualified if they are against a single non-negotiable.
Most of them would not qualify.let’s face it, the reason isn’t safety. it is for economic reasons. therefore, they should apply for legal entry. they don’t deserve favorable treatment over those applying legally
have we met?more than you can imagine.
why not stop in mexico?come from South America with almost nothing
or our freebiesIt is your laws
you implied something was more than i could imagine. you wouldn’t know this unless we met.??? Why have we met??
never said they would be allowed entry. which makes them being here all the more problem. why let them stay if we would not have accepted them in the first place.Do as you wish with your laws but at least know your immigration and Homeland Security requirements.
OK " than one can imagine".you implied something was more than i could imagine. you wouldn’t know this unless we met.
Why would they not qualify as far as you know?why let them stay if we would not have accepted them in the first place.
The good Bishop is getting ahead of his skis. This is not what (28) says. Yes, theSupport of abortion by a candidate for public office, some of whom are Catholics, even if they use the phony “personally opposed but” line, is reason sufficient unto itself to disqualify any and every such candidate from receiving our vote. (BISHOP WILLIAM MURPHY Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centr)
I agree with that.Voting for a candidate who supports abortion is not that. It may disqualify a candidate (42), but may does not mean shall.
Holy Moly! Hallelujah!Voting for a candidate who supports abortion is not that. It may disqualify a candidate (42), but may does not mean shall.
I agree with that.
You do agree, though, that it is not “hate” to object to behavior unbecoming to the office of President, right? It is OK to object to nominating an attorney to the federal bench who isn’t familiar with the case law that ought to be as familiar to a judge as the back of his own hand?Salutations,
I’m Catholic. I voted for him. I still support him. I continue to pray for him. I try to reach ppl to stop the hate.
Any Christian, who is hating POTUS, is not following Jesus’s values. First, PRO-LIFE issues. Second, the support for Christian principles. We have been under attack. He has prayer in WH. Crèche is in WH. An executive order was written for the govt., who can now, provide busing for a Christian school. Separation of church and state means we are not to force a religion on ppl. We are not to be punished for our faith.! Third, Supreme Court Judges. Appellate Court Judges. Fourth-getting jobs by reducing corporate taxes.Plan to reduce taxes for ppl. Redo the tax system. Fifth, when policies are in, money should start to get back in the treasury.Sixth—IMMIGRATION=Wall! Stop illegals. Help DACA’s… NEED WALL!! SEVENTH—Redo inner cities. Get rid of gangs. Eighth but very important=improve military, conquer ISIS.
May God change hearts of haters. Help them love their enemy( he’s not your enemy). Help them learn to respect him. Open eyes to see good. Protect his family, Lord. Thank you. In Jesus name. Amen.
In Christ’s love,

no, you mean you just have to be able to pick and choose what you want from what the bishops say to match your agenda. You have to be capable of nuanced political and theological thought to properly understand this topic.
abortion is probably the most thought out topic in christian politics.a county sheriff candidate announces he/she is pro choice, you can’t vote for him/her. This is not well thought out.
