Thanks for your expert opinion. This Catholic has reasons for supporting Obama against Romney, reasons that are firmly rooted in her faith.

Thankfully, nobody’s character or Christianity is measured solely by their stance on abortion. There is, in my mind, much that needs to be assessed with regard to faith in this election, so I will support the candidate who my faith-formed conscience can best abide, your expert opinion notwithstanding.
Does the HHS mandate not give you pause? It was not passed by Congress.

The HHS mandate does give me pause. If Obama is elected I will happily carry signs in the street to oppose it because I believe it he is wrong on that one. However, I am under no illusions that Romney is a cure-all against Obama; actually I believe that is far from the truth.

The more I learn about Romney and what makes him tick, the more I am incredulous that many Catholics are voting for him simply to get Obama out. In my mind, those who think Obama’s election was a mistake have just as much reason to ensure that they do not make a new one in electing a person without closely examining his fitness in the light of our faith.

Sins against God, for example, outweigh sins against man…
Sins against people are also sins against God. What we do to the least among us, we do to the Lord. The least and most vulnerable in today’s society are the unborn, who have nothing and are subject to being killed for the convenience of the mother. Since supporting the killing of such a one is the same as supporting the killing of Christ, I do not see how those who support the president’s re-election are so different than the mob that cried, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”

I am sure they thought their reasons for that were proportional.

What should give everyone pause is that no politician Democrat or Repubican AFAIK has ever condemned the private insurance companies for covering abortions from day 1 in the Roe vs Wade era.

Gay relationship are unstable and research shows that children who are not raised by their biological parents are not as well off in numerous statistical categories.
Heterosexual relationship are also very unstable.

Divorce Rate Statistics of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Marriages
Various studies on US rate of divorce show significant differences when a comparison is made in 1st, 2nd and 3rd marriage breakups in America. The marriage breakup rate in America for first marriage is 41% to 50%; the rate after second marriage is from 60% to 67% and the rate in America for 3rd marriage are from 73% to 74%. Reports also say that couples with children have a slightly lower rate of breakup as compared to couples without children. This is due to the fact that being childless is one of the prime causes behind divorce in America. Also, the children of divorced parents are prone to divorcing 4 times more than the children of couples who are not divorced.

Murder
One does not have to physically butcher, stab, shoot, abort, drown, a person to muder him/her. According to CCC
1033 We cannot be united with God unless we freely choose to love him. But we cannot love God if we sin gravely against him, against our neighbor or against ourselves: “He who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” Our Lord warns us that we shall be separated from him if we fail to meet the serious needs of the poor and the little ones who are his brethren. To die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God’s merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own free choice. This state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed is called “hell.”

The judgement of men is according to this:
Matthew 25:42-43
42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

My heterosexual marriage, blessed with two beautiful daughters, has been going strong for over 27 years. My wife is still the most attractive woman on the planet in my eyes. We are devoted to our Catholic faith and each other … the secret of longevity.

That’s a great tribute to your wife, and lucky and blessed you.

Alas, though we’ve been married 46 years and have had four boys and a girl, my wife and I have not lived together for 21 years though we remain cordial to one another. She returned to NYC, I remain here in Little Rock. Things don’t always work out the way one plans or hopes for. C’est la vie. 🤷

I am truly sorry to hear this, Rich.😦

Great and you have been blessed! 👍👍👍

As a alternative to abortion, I would definitely think so.
👍

The Child’s Protection Rights
The right to protect children by adequate institutions and legislation from
*Harmful drugs
*Pornography
*Smoking
*Alcoholism
*Gambling
*Fighting
*Lying
*Stealing
*Cheating
*Anger
*Violence and guns

contributing to the delinquency of minors, child abuse and impurity.

So, any responsible adult regardless of their sexual orientation able to sacrifice their life and ensure the child’s right gets my approval! 👍

Sorry to hear that, Rich. I hope it all works out for you otherwise. No doubt, I consider myself blessed.

You have doubts about my faith? That’s kinda weird, isn’t it your faith that you’re responsible for?
We are our brother’s keeper and my concern with liberal Catholics is that they are in it more for themselves than for others. The reason I think this is because a) it’s mostly true and b) liberals and progressives have to distort truths, make excuses and play on emotions to advance their agenda because it is illogical and doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

As much as the RCC is about sharing and caring, it’s moral premises are founded on solid logic and natural law, law that cannot be refuted by any amount of social engineering by the West.

People who really concerned about the poor and needy don’t waste time trying to get others down into the trenches; they zip their lips and do what they can without using the force of government to do it for them while they sit comfortably arm-chair quarterbacking the corporal and spiritual works of mercy thinking they’ve done their part by checking the D box every 2-4 years.
And BTW, there is more than one mortal sin. If you read the 10 commandments, you get an orientation of where each mortal sin ranks in relation to other mortal sins. Sins against God, for example, outweigh sins against man…
No one is disputing that. I’d prefer to not have a government that caters to atheists and secularists because I want to be able to protest against blasphemous things like splashing urine on a cross without getting fined or arrested because a non-Catholics feelings might be hurt or that I’ve somehow compromised artistic creativity.

That’s the road we are headed with this administration. In some other countries, it’s a crime to speak out against homosexual behavior.

How’s that for offending God?
