Token people to be the strawman is what I see Megan McCain on the view. Seems to be .
But on the news it seems to be a LOT of haters.

Okay, seriously, late-night talk shows are entertainment. Satire is part of the entertainment, but, these shows are not journalism. Humor about the President and current events are part of the entertainment, this has been going on since the beginning of Television.

Jay Lenno (or whomever has now taken his place) is there to entertain you.

On election night 2016 Steven Cobert was all set with his smirk and ready to mock and horse-laugh at the Republicans.

Then… it didn’t quite play out as he (or, to be fair, anybody else) expected.

And all his smiles were wiped away
 
I think “fake news” is used by most news sources because they are profit driven and they know that people pay attention to stories that evoke outrage. If they can get people arguing and hating on each other, that’s a lot of clicks on their articles. So, they intentionally focus on stories that evoke controversy and intentionally exaggerate the story so people are outraged and keep clicking on their links to call each other “idiots”.

This is because what you and I see through a Christian moral worldview is not the most widely accepted stand.

Look at it this way, we know that the laws on marriage are binding on all humans. It is not just “Catholic rules” that when someone marries and divorces, if their “ex” is still living, that marriage must be reviewed by a competent Tribunal before they are free to again attempt marriage. The subsequent attempt at marriage is invalid until proven otherwise, right?

Yet, we do not say it is an “outright lie” when the press or entertainment media refers to a celebrity, politician or even a President’s 2nd or 3rd legal spouse with the term “husband” or “wife”.

We are to work to change the world, to bring light to darkness, to help people embrace the Truth of God’s laws. Calling them “outright” liars over the question of when life begins or who is really married is not the best first step.
 
Because people want black and white issues and watching two people chew on one another is FAR more entertaining than watching rational people discuss very nuanced and important things.
 
Last week the late night talk comedy was disgust ing . as is SNL. Which I watched in the 70’s …
Just hateful crap. Against conservative or sexual “normal” people.

This is interesting if only for the fact you wouldn’t know anything of what you label as “condescending tone and constant mockery of conservatives” unless you were either being a) Told that is what is going on and choose to believe this, or b) Listening to left wing media and drawing a conclusion…A stark similarity to what I believe when I watch right wing media.
We must be cautious though that our own biases are not shading these conclusions.
Never has it been truer in the realm of propaganda that we as INDIVIDUALS must seek out TRUTH rather than follow one sect, right or left. Truth is not relative and I believe it is found somewhere in the middle. Even a broken clock is right twice a day and we saw what propaganda did in earlier 20th century Germany to people. My God, it led to the whitewashing of genocide.

It’s not just bias, the mainstream news networks are politically aligned, slanderous, misleading and push false narratives to shape public opinion. It is not mere bias like you say. And yes, they do sometimes publish fake news, and have recently done so and have had to correct themselves. I was against the lies and misinformation of the mainstream media way before Trump was even known as a candidate. He did not push me to hate the news, or to foster division or hate. I have known about the dirty tricks of the media for a long time.

This whole discussion is an illustration of why I dislike politics. Political debate among the masses is never ever productive. Otherwise sane decent people turn into savages when the talk turns to politics. Ideas are rarely exchanged in a manner that fosters thought or civil discussion. Rather, people talk at each other instead of with each other. A person who judges the value of another person by the political views he/she holds is failing at life in many levels.

I do not understand or know the basis of your hatreds, I just disagree, at least to the level that you think is happening, and most definitely to the level that this thread is about, where news is called “fake.” It wasn’t fake rounds from fake weapons that ripped through Sante Fe, for example, killing fake teens. The children looked away by ICE away from their parents, and still away from their parents in defiance of a court order, are not fake children. Yet if the President would have it his way, fake would mean any news he deems inconvenient.
