As I’ve said, in the general election, Republicans are going to need the people that are leaning towards Trump. I don’t know how they think alienating those people is going to ensure they pull the lever for the Republican. The people listening to Trump are GOP voters who feel the party has at best, ignored them, and at worst, actively despises them. That’s the problem they need to fix.Trump Would Lose Badly In A Third-Party Bid, But He Could Take The Republican Down, Too

Having been around the darkest corners of the internet, I know Birtherist code words and sentiments when I see them. I understand that they might be invisible to those who aren’t fully versed in the conspiracy theory, but they’re there, nonetheless. He didn’t say a word about birtherism You injected it into the thread.
Yes it appears Republicans do indeed have a problem any way they cut it. It will be interesting to see going forward how they handle Trump and how Trump handles them. It’s kind of an impossible choice.
The longer he stays in the GOP race, the more he poisons the party.
If the GOP crushes him, they feed into his status as an outsider, thus giving him additional cachet as a third-party candidate.
There are no easy solutions. If the GOP would have taken measures to reduce its attractiveness to blowhards and shills a couple of election cycles ago, then this issue wouldn’t have blown up to the extent that it has, but, alas, Republicans have a demagogue problem.
its the newest way to build a straw man. Invoke :“dog whistle” (which only appears to be used by conservatives) and then tear down people for what one claims they meant.Having been around the darkest corners of the internet, I know Birtherist code words and sentiments when I see them. The best description I’ve read is that the people who use this term are fantasists. Their arguments and analysis are based on what they imagine conservatives to think, and some would say it’s actually quite offensiveits the newest way to build a straw man. It in one of the many new weapons in the liberal arsenal, much like “White Privilege” (one is racist by birth),
Sigh The original post referred to the President as “Barry Soetoro”.its the newest way to build a straw man. Invoke :“dog whistle” (which only appears to be used by conservatives) and then tear down people for what one claims they meant.

I think birther references whether by Trump or by other Republicans or other conservatives, are merely attempts to illegitimize Obama’s Presidency in their minds because they simply have a difficult time accepting that they lost not once but twice to him. But the truth remains that they did.Sigh The original post referred to the President as “Barry Soetoro”.
This is as blatant a Birther reference as you can get.
I guess to people who are experts at hearing dog whistles it must be.Sigh The original post referred to the President as “Barry Soetoro”.
