Fans of Taylor Marshall: what's going on?

My observation is that since Marshall released the book Infiltration, his downward trajectory has seriously spiralled. We can all see how he gradually got more and more radical from his time of conversion but the last 9 or 10 months have just escalated. Even how his look has transformed with it. It’s like an addiction spiral. Hopefully he hits rock bottom and can eventually come out of whatever is happening.

While we cannot name names (or scenarios) we all know that certain clergy have expressed views under this Papacy that they would never have expressed under any previous Papacies. Some of them are well known by now, and the obvious reason being they would likely get into trouble if stating their views or allowing certain things, let’s say about ten year’s ago.

If it works that way for those clergy who are, shall we say nontraditional, perhaps it will start working that way for traditional clergy also?
Yep, that’s a blatant example of horseshoe theory. The extremes end up sharing the same dodgy unethical ideals and tactics to get what they want for their agenda’s.

The tweet that is used for the bi line is an interesting question.

“… there might be something in the way traditionalists define their faith … that attracts people who are already inclined to kick over the guardrails that protect marginalized communities”

So often a new member will join CAF and I wonder if its a duplicate account or whether there is just a shared fundamental ideal that finds sympathy in this religious bent.

For me, it was the ties to white supremacists and racists
Yes, his interview with Faith Goldy was awful.

From his conversion, until 2013, he seems to have been a normal traditional Catholic. Then he became very strangely radically different from the start of Francis’ pontificate.

I don’t think Bishop Schneider (who I DO like) will be giving him any more interviews.

I predict that Dr. Marshall will become a sedevacantist within the next 10 years.
Agreed. His sympathies seem to be changing quickly.
You need to be very careful that you do not descend down the same rabbit hole that they have, that is not a very nice comment to make especially considering Marshall has done countless videos denouncing sedevacantism.

We know social media encourages impulsive behaviour and every one of them is at fault, for not taking control of the situation and acting like mature adults. Yes, Taylor should have discerned better and never have posted that tweet in the first place, as it is a very tumultuous time for us all and there is always division when discussing the SSPX.
But Daves outburst was simply uncalled for, and honestly, some of the things Tim said were straight-up nasty and spiteful.
This whole quarrel disappointed all their supporters because it was very unchristian, handled terribly and simply unnecessary, especially at Easter.
The moral of the story is to sort out your problems privately.

But no one on here has a right to start making judgments about the interior dispositions of anyone, we need to pray for them!

I disagree, Bishop Schineder has met with Marshall many times and even wrote the foreword to his book Infiltration.
One quote - “We must examine the very roots of the present crisis, which, to a decisive extent, can be identified – as Taylor Marshall has done in this book – as an infiltration of the Church by an unbelieving world.” Bishop Athanasius Schneider

Bishop Schneider actually has also been frustrated with the ambiguity of Pope Francis’ messages and encyclicals, because at the end of the day it has caused widespread confusion among Catholics. There is nothing wrong with calling out strange behaviour as we are undergoing an unprecedented crisis in the church, especially when it is out of love and Charity for the Pope and Christ’s Church.

I don’t think so, it was a silly twitter spat, and ever party involved should’ve known better. Bishop Schneider has his own website to communicate with the faithful but no Twitter. He rightly warns against the dangers of social media if not used with discretion.

I would recommend if you ever have the time to read the biography of Marcel Francois Lefebvre, it is very beautiful and gives more insight into the situation.
Father Ripperger was right on point when he discussed serious problems arising in the traditional movement. He is a traditional himself but certainly p(name removed by moderator)ointed this separation of unity happening among Catholics.
10 Problems in the Traditionalist Movement – Tumblar House Catholic Books.
He did a whole series on tradition that is incredibly interesting and has been very helpful to me.

I love Bishop Schneider. He’s a great defender of the Faith.

I think he might distance himself from

Marshall now.
because of the tweets? I don’t think so. Not because of the SSPX either. Bishop Schneider already discussed the SSPX with Dr. Marshall. As said above, Bishop Schneider is very sympathetic to the SSPX.

If we all followed Taylor’s lead and went there for Easter Holy Communion, it would quickly either be shut down by the authorities, or people would be getting COVID at the services.
A moot point for devout, traditional, faithful Catholics.
It’s also selfish for them to think that they are more deserving of absolution and reception of Holy Communion than the hundreds of thousands of the rest of us who are not only obeying our bishops, but looking out for the healthy well-being of our fellowmen, choosing not to entice our priests into disobedience, nor creating yet more scandal for the CatholIc Church, nor jeopardizing her financial health. May God forgive them, in spite of their deliberate irresponsibility…

For me, it was the ties to white supremacists and racists that turned me completely off to Marshall, Gordon and a slew of other alt-Catholic figures. When Marshall compared Muslims to bugs, he lost any good faith on my part.

Wow. That article is brutal and truthful.

How do you know they were disobedient or jeopardized anyone’s health? Do you know the situation of the Mass?

I disagree with him putting the tweet out but I don’t think it is right for any of us to comment on the SSPX being disobedient unless we know that for a fact and to know that we would have to know the way they handled the Mass.

According to Tim, this is a very naive reading of the situation. Given that he’s one of the actual players involved, I’m inclined to believe him.
I read the now deleted tweets. I know what I saw and they were not very nice at all.
