O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Last week, flu took out our evangelist in charge of “the table and stuff”. So last week’s session was cancelled. Here, though, is the report from the previous one. Thank you so much for your prayers!
  • Two homeless men stopped for a Rosary. They told evangelist Chuck they believed that God was always with them, keeping them alive.
  • A college-aged couple passed, and then he came to the table with her in tow. He said he was not a Christian; she did not reply. They each selected a Rosary and took a how-to pamphlet, plus a copy of the kerygma. They listened politely listened as evangelist Lucy explained the Rosary, and that having questions was okay.
  • A woman (late teens to early 20s) with taped-together glasses and a distinctly green tint in her hair, was passing by on the far side of the sidewalk. She responded to our offer of a free Rosary and came over. She was interested in the Rosary, but didn’t belong to any faith community. She accepted our invitation to check out the Catholic Church and the classes they offer, and accepted a map of area parishes.
  • Two men were trying to visit tourist attractions on this wintry Sunday afternoon. So far they had been frustrated. The geology museum was closed for the winter. The foothills trail was muddy and icy. So, they had come downtown looking for the new “light show”. Evangelist Chuck pointed out to them the light-fixture bars attached to the side of building we were facing. Unfortunately, just at that moment, the PA system was playing a song to which the light organ just didn’t respond. (Once the two men left, the music changed and the bars again lit up.) Evangelist Lucy offered them a map of area parishes, letting them know of the tour of the cathedral offered every Sunday afternoon. “Except the Sunday between Christmas and New Year’s”, one of them conjectured despondently. “Perhaps,” shrugged the evangelist, “but there will be a Mass there at 5 p.m., for sure” He accepted the map.
  • A woman had evidently passed us with a “no thank you” earlier. But she must have turned around, because she came to our table, asking, “Is it okay to change my mind? I would like a Rosary.” She accepted one and its accompanying pamphlet.
  • A woman came to us and accepted a Rosary and pamphlet. A few steps later, she returned and asked for one for her boyfriend, who was getting his hair cut. Because she promised to pray it together with him, we let her have the second one.
  • Although foot traffic was light, possibly due to the damp drizzly weather, the two evangelists still gave away 8-10 Rosaries and its pamphlet, at least one copy of the Good News/kerygma pamphlet, and 1-2 maps of area parishes.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and the salvation that only He can bring. Please ask Him to grant that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s effort.

Even in midwinter, we offer the warmth of God’s love. So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

One body in Christ, the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort continues, thanks to your prayers. Two evangelists were available last week.
  • A mother and her little son (perhaps 4 year old) were heading across the square toward the hockey arena. The little boy was interested in a free Rosary. His mother implied she already had one at home. The boy chose a black Rosary, and his mother accepted its pamphlet. They then headed back across the square, where they met up with the dad, just coming out of the hockey rink.
  • Then, for several long minutes, there was not a pedestrian in sight. The evangelists started praying the Rosary, and groups of people poured out of the buildings on the other side of the square. Some eventually made their way past our table.
  • A woman stopped for a Rosary and pamphlet. She told us she was in RCIA and took her daughter to Mass when she could. She was very enthusiastic about becoming Catholic. We encouraged her to pray the Rosary with her daughter. “If one part is honored, every part rejoices with it” (1 Cor 12:26b).
  • Two teens who looked familiar stopped and said they had received Rosaries from us some time ago. One boy had glued his to his skateboard. (sigh) We emphasized the Rosaries were not decorations, but were a path to a deeper relationship with God Himself. They thanked us for handing out Rosaries in the cold.
  • “Amir” was our last visitor. He is a fallen-away Catholic refugee from an embattled country overseas, where Christianity is actively persecuted. From his youth, he said, the country has been at war and the Christian community persecuted. He got away ten years ago, but a lot of his Christian family members stayed in their villages, only to be burned out of their homes and churches by a radical group from the dominant religion. These family members are now scattered as refugees in various countries in the region. Amir no longer goes to church, and now seems agnostic on the existence of God, because so many prayers of his people went unanswered. God never stopped the violence and persecution, he said. Amir now concentrates on being “a good person”. He accepted our sympathy but did not want our encouragement to return to Faith, nor did he accept the offered helpful reading. It sounded like he hears enough of this call back to the Church from his family. He warned us of the dangers of the dominant religion in his country, and we offered him God’s blessings. “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it” (1 Cor 12:26a ).
  • Foot traffic was very light, but the two evangelists still gave away perhaps 10 Rosaries and its booklet.
Please pray for us again today. Ask God to send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

Recognizing we’re one body in Christ, we extend His love to each one we meet. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

The new year was off to a positive start, but times remain perilous. So thank you again for your prayers for Boise’s Catholic street evangelization effort. Two of us were available.
  • “Walt” was moving slowly. He conversed a long while with evangelist Chuck. A few nights earlier, he had been robbed, losing his backpack, model cars, and an important prescription. He had fought with the thieves, trying unsuccessfully to stop them, and was still a little sore. He told Chuck his extensive plans to get them caught by the police, and asked for prayers. The conversation concluded when Walt’s friend “Jose” came by.
  • A group of convention goers declined receiving a Rosary on their way in, but stopped at our table as they left. A couple of them accepted a Rosary and brief explanation of the devotion. One woman in the group said she had Rosaries at home. When evangelist Lucy asked her to pray it for us, she responded, “Yes, these are perilous times.”
  • A group of 4 or 5 teens stopped. One of the girls admitted she wasn’t Christian, “or really anything”. Evangelist Lucy offered her, and the other members in the group, a Good News/kerygma pamphlet, as well as a Rosary. A boy, slightly younger than the rest, joined the group after the conversation had started. In reaction to the evangelist’s declaration that Jesus is real, he sniggered.
  • Some young-adult Catholics stopped. One of the young men admitted that he wasn’t really going to Mass anymore, so evangelist Lucy slipped him a “Reasons to Return” packet, which he accepted.
  • A man and woman went by, politely declining a Rosary. About 8 ft behind them, head down and moving slowly, was a preteen girl. Evangelist Lucy offered her a Rosary, and she surprised us by accepting one, and a brief explanation. She left with a spring in her step. The adults noticed her absence just before she caught up with them again. Soon, there were squeals as the dad (stepdad?) started a “tickle war” with the girl. Hopefully, she was able to keep the Rosary (and copy of the kerygma).
  • A 20-something man (sporting a flamboyant goatee) frequently passes the table on his way to work. He had a woman with him this time. She stopped for a Rosary; he declined. She was not Christian but seemed genuinely interested in the Rosary and its pamphlet, as well as that of the kerygma.
  • Altogether, we gave away 10-15 Rosaries and its pamphlet, at least 2-3 copies of the kerygma, a “Returning Catholics” packet, and a map or two of local parishes.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s effort.

Prayer is our most effective weapon for the times. So thank you again for your prayers, encouragement, and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
