O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Pointing to Jesus, we thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort. Two evangelists were available.
  • Do you remember “James”? The last time I reported on meeting him was in May 2016 (see post #251 in this thread), although the last encounter was perhaps a month or so later. James is a low-functioning young adult. At the time of his last visit, it seemed he was being exploited as a panhandler by his then “house mother”, but I hadn’t seen him since. But this session, while evangelist Chuck was talking with frequent-visitor Walt, James rode by on a bicycle, then stopped. He said he was homeless and expressed envy over Walt’s pile of possessions. I asked after his mother, whom he said was doing okay. A bit later in the session, James rode past a second time. Both times I forgot to offer him a “victim of human trafficking” card. Pray for him?
  • Two couples stopped, at separate times, and both in their late teens or early 20s. The woman of the first couple admitted she wasn’t Christian; the man of the second couple said the same. Both still seemed attracted by the Rosary. Both chose one and accepted its booklet, as well as a copy of the kerygma.
  • Two young men in their late teens stopped, wondering what “this” was all about. They did not know what the Rosary was for and were not Christian. But when evangelist Chuck told them that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and had come to earth and was crucified for our sins, they said they had heard of Him. Both accepted a Rosary, its pamphlet, and a copy of the kerygma.
  • A Catholic couple stopped. They were in town from the eastern part of the state. The woman accepted the Rosary brochure once evangelist Lucy showed her how to use it to encourage a non-Catholic Christian to pray the Rosary. She took a Rosary as well, in case she found someone to give it to.
  • A college-aged man went by. Offered a free Rosary, he patted his backpack and said he had his with him.
  • A gender-confused person stopped, not knowing what the Rosary was, but knowing about Jesus. When the Rosary was explained, our visitor asked if it was idolatry to use the Rosary. Evangelist Lucy explained we don’t pray to the beads, and that everything we believe about Mary leads us closer to Jesus Christ. Our visitor accepted this explanation, as well as a Rosary and its pamphlet.
  • An out-of-town couple with a baby stopped. They were Catholic and talked about their parish. The wife said that her mother always insisted she have a Rosary with her. Evangelist Chuck told her it was her turn to teach her baby the Faith. Both man and wife took a Rosary.
  • Altogether, we gave away about 10-15 Rosaries, 4 copies of the kerygma, and 2 bookmark cards.
Please pray for us again today? Ask that God send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

The Rosary leads people to Jesus, so thank you again for your prayers and other support of this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love.

Still proclaiming the Good News, we thank you for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort. Two evangelists were available last week.
  • Evangelist Chuck remembers a conversation that went something like this: “Do you know what the Rosary is?” “No, I’m not Catholic.” “Are you Christian?” “I don’t know.” “Do you know about Jesus Christ, Who died on the Cross?” “Yes!” We have been hearing this more and more often lately. We find “I don’t know if I’m Christian or not” perplexing. Does “Christian” and “Jesus Christ” have no connection in their minds? Are they just embarrassed to admit they are not Christian? How can we get them to understand that Jesus Christ is truly Lord, and deserves not only their love but their worship? Please pray for them?
  • “James” came by a couple of times. No bicycle this time, but he was trying to play a guitar with a few strings missing. He wanted another Rosary, but e. Lucy remembered that he had been part of the “merchant scheme” a few years ago, and gave him a Divine Mercy bookmark instead. E. Chuck also gave him a “victim of human trafficking” resource card.
  • The non-Catholic Christian photographer, from a month or so ago, stopped by again and talked with e. Chuck. No camera today, he was just riding around on an electric scooter.
  • Two teenage women stopped and accepted Rosaries, a brief explanation, and a Rosary pamphlet. They were Christian.
  • Another teenage woman stopped. As e. Chuck was explaining the Rosary, another teen, and then another, came up. We set them all up with Rosary, its booklet, and the encouragement to sit down and pray it.
  • “John” the parking garage attendant and, separately, a handicapped woman visited with us for quite a while. The woman’s brother is in prison, and she asked for a Rosary for him.
  • “Rosie”, a deacon’s widow, passed by accompanied by another woman. She said they had lots of Rosaries. When e. Lucy asked her to bring down her extras, she seemed surprised but thoughtful. They didn’t stop.
  • Foot traffic was light, and those who stopped were mostly under 30. One woman scolded us for giving things away, but most of the other people seemed pleased with our presence, even as they kept their distance.
  • Altogether, we gave away another 15-20 Rosaries and its booklet, as well as at least one map of area parishes.
Please pray for us again today? With no public worship, and dangers of contagion if someone coughs on our materials, we are planning to set up just our signs and pray. If approached, we can exhort people that now is the time to connect/reconnect with Jesus Christ. Please pray that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts?

“Now is a very acceptable time” to visibly witness to Jesus Christ and His Church. So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

No longer able to safely display the Rosaries, we decided to show up and “just” pray the Rosary out loud. Our Lady’s mantle provided a solid blue sky over the center of the business park while we did so. Two evangelists were available.
  • “John”, the parking garage attendant, came by twice. There were, he said, a total of 20 cars parked in the 7 parking garages that he maintains. So he had some time on his hands. He told us how 12-step groups were managing, especially with so many churches (their usual meeting places) closed. He joined us in two bishops’ prayers for an end to the spread of the disease, for victims, for healthcare workers, and for wisdom in government leaders. He took a copy of that prayer sheet and another copy of the Rosary pamphlet with him. He said he hadn’t learned to pray the Rosary yet, but hurried off before we could teach him.
  • Two people saluted us as they passed by.
  • A woman thanked us for praying the Rosary. Evangelist Chuck invited her to join us but she was running late for an appointment.
  • A man said how blessed he felt to have had the opportunity to worship online. When evangelist Lucy invited him to pray a decade of the Rosary with us, he said he couldn’t because he was on his way to something.
  • A little boy (about 4-5 years old), on a bike and watched from a distance by his grandparents, sat and stared at us as we prayed. He rode away when evangelist Chuck said hi.
  • We prayed all 20 decades of the Rosary, and gave away one Rosary pamphlet and a copy of the bishops’ prayers.
Our state governor has issued a Stay-at-Home order, so we plan to pray the Rosary again today, at the same time but from our separate homes. Please pray for us and/or with us? Please ask that God brings all people to Himself and salvation.

The Rosary is a powerful weapon against evil. So thank you again for your prayers and other support of this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

These times are a test of obedience, aren’t they? The governor of our state has mandated “stay at home” for everyone, except for necessities such as medicine and food. Our bishop has closed all churches and suspended all services, including Eucharistic Adoration chapels.
  • Therefore, we cannot do “street evangelization” in public at this time. So, we are doing the only thing possible: praying our hearts out for the conversion of sinners, and the finding of the lost.
  • Last week, two of us evangelists prayed all 20 decades of the Rosary at the same time, but separately in our own homes. Perhaps you joined us, too?
We prefaced our recitation of the Rosary with bishops’ prayers for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are two from the Diocese of Detroit:
A prayer for the sick especially those suffering from the coronavirus.

Loving God, you sent your son Jesus Christ to heal the sick. We ask you to come to our aid in the midst of the coronavirus crisis that we too may experience your healing love. We ask you to heal those who are sick. Calm those who are living in fear. Be with those who have died and comfort their families. Inspire health professionals to aid them in their healing work. Guide national leaders to lead and make decisions with wisdom. Help us to always be aware of your presence as we place our trust in you. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Prayer for an end to the coronavirus crisis

Loving God, we come before you in our time of need. We lay before you our concerns and fears over the spread of the coronavirus. We know that you are mightier than all our fears and that the name of Jesus is the name above all other names. We ask, in the name of Jesus, that you stop the spread of the coronavirus. In your mercy, heal those who are sick and lead those who have died into your heavenly kingdom. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
We plan to pray the entire Rosary again this afternoon at our usual evangelization time. Please join us in prayer for the salvation of souls?

This is a time of immense danger for many souls. So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
