Marci,
It must be the American Woman in me…I will question, I will ask, I will look within…I don’t follow 3 steps behind my husband…I can thnk for myself.
I’m sorry, what was that? My husband just got home from work and I was busy getting his evening coctail, his slippers and his pipe. We’ll have to make this quick, because I still have to massage his feet and draw his bath water, after I get dinner on the table of course.
I don’t go looking for people who disagree with me and report them to the priest, bishop, pope. I don’t jump down peoples throats and use the word FORBIDDEN as commonly as the word “the”.
Wow! There’s a Eucharist abuse thread going on in the Sacraments and Liturgy forum that would REALLY get you fired up!
You misread my intent…I find it difficult to believe that the Catholic Church with it’s vast influence is afraid of men in funny hats. Sounds like the Cold War. As for the men thing…aren’t freemasons a “men” only organization? Don’t paint me with a “feminist” brush. Some people prefer to have every waking hour of their lives consumed with dogma, doctrine, who to vote for, where to shop, what kind of coffee to buy, to stay away from, what organizations are compatible to join, which are not…I guess I’ve lived under Holy Spirit guidance for so long, I just look within and the Holy Spirit is there to work through me. Change happens from within to out, not the other way around.
So…does this mean you do agree with church teaching on freemasonry, or you don’t. Sorry, still haven’t figured it out yet.

How about I let you stew in your confusion.

I dont think Marci is confused with all due respect. I am not confused either.

Its as clear as crystal to me. I had this conversation with Sixtus on another thread, and well- lets just say that it does not take long to figure this one out.

I personally happen to realize that the Church has a function. Sometimes, the Church has to take a position with any given subject when it feels it is warranted to do so. Now, that being said- I tend to listen when this happens. Call me Old Fashioned, call me too conservative, call me a mindless drone or a lemming that goes with the flow and accepts the Wisdom that Mother Church uses to guide us. I dont care what you think about me personally, but when you make statements that lead me to conclude you happen to think the Mother Church is sadly ignorant or mistaken, or that you have credentials that match her, I must turn my head and pray that attitudes like yours will not spread and infect the rest of the Body that actually does believe and obey and not second guess Her.

Its all about knowing the role of the Church, who instituted it, what guides it and what our individual responsibility is in it.

Hope I was not too big of a bummer.

NOT at all:)

Ac86 & marci

Can either of you point out a single statement from Julianna or I that violates actual Catholic teach ??? Or is accusation and innuendo all you have ?

quick question that both you and Julianna seem to not want to answer…
So do you agree with church teaching on freemasonry, or you don’t you?

Um…

It looks to me like there are lot of people here who are citing the Church’s teaching and proclaiming their agreement with it.

Then there seem to be a few people who refuse to agree with the group defending the Church, and yet fail to make their own position clear.

Also, as an aside, the history of the Freemasons is not entirely blameless in the United States. There have been at least a few cases in the past of masons using the masonic blood oaths of secrecy as the basis for covering up various crimes.

Ultimately, we really don’t know what the Freemasons are up to, or what they are teaching. After all, they take oaths of secrecy that can hide those things from us. If they are not hiding anything, then why are they taking oaths of secrecy? If those oaths are not serious, why do they swear a curse upon themselves should they break them?

Guys,
I’m in RCIA, still learning about the church, so please don’t jump on me if this question is really stupid or if you think I should know the answer. I just got called by a Shriner and was asked to give money to send kids to the Shriner circus. I said I would give $40, but then I looked up the Shriners to see if they were compatible with being Catholic, and it seems not. The weird thing is that I don’t send the check to them–they are sending someone out apparently to pick up the check from my door (they said to leave it in an envelope and put it under my doormat so no one else could get it.) What should I do? Should I write a note and just say that I’m sorry but I am Catholic and didn’t realize the Shriners were incompatible with my faith when I spoke to the man on the phone, or write a note saying I’m sorry but I can’t give like I thought I could, or what? I’d appreciate any help and any thoughts to help guide me on this matter. Thanks a lot.
Holly

Oh boy…they are hounding you for not sending money???
I would put an envelope with a brief explanation (not compatable with the church ) and leave it at that or you can go further and tell them that you will donate the money to A Catholic charity on their behalf;) .
It was an honest mistake on your part 🙂

would you please expand exactly what is crystal clear "to me"

who is using the words “call me”? um I smell a problem coming
I dont care what you think about me personally, but when you make statements that lead ***me to conclude ***
there you have it. It is not what Julianna says nor thinks
***you happen to think ***the Mother Church is sadly ignorant or mistaken,
and there is the problem, if the facts do not support the position well how about and unjustified personal attack
or that you have credentials that match her,
Hey look another personal attack, is every one distracted yet?
I must turn my head and pray that ***attitudes like yours ***will not spread and infect the rest of the Body that actually does believe and obey and not second guess Her.
Okay, another personal attack just in case not ever one is distracted yet. Notice the attempt to appear to defend the Church while actually delivering a personal attack. ( Now is that really your form of Catholism?)
Its all about knowing the role of the Church, who instituted it, what guides it and what our individual responsibility is in it.
how is this for topping a pretension that it is the Church condemning, how is that for hiding a personal attack
Hope I was not too big of a bummer.
A humbling exit, or is it?

Now a real question “Can you really read her mind?”

well you seem to be able too…if that is not what she is implying in her posts than she should state what exactly she believes…
here lets try this again…you keep avoiding my and others simple question…

I know part of that was actually answered so why are you asking for a repeat? as for the other part I have seen nothing in the thread to warranty the question so why do you ask it?

Karin,
Thanks for your quick reply! They aren’t hounding me (they just called like 10 minutes ago asking me to give, and since then I did the research and realized I couldn’t.) I like your idea. I’m going to say that I’ll give to a Catholic charity instead to still help children, which is what I will do. Thanks a lot!

i have yet to see where you or Julianna actually state (yes or no) if you agree with the Church’s teaching on/regarding Freemasons…
to humor me can you restate your answer here:gopray:

absolutely not
.if that is not what she is implying in her posts than she should state what exactly she believes…
she did - why do you refuse the answer to your question??, she wrote it down in detail and posted it, so if that is not good enough maybe the problem is not with her
here lets try this again…you keep avoiding my and others simple question…

The answer is clearly posted in this thread, what is the problem with you reading it?? it requires no thinking, hint, hint, hint read post #15, and #20 again
