“GOP 2012: Perry dropping out; Newt’s scorched-earth karma; and a Final Four debate”

snippet from Michelle Malkin’s article:
Here is the awful GOP conundrum. We have a liberal Northeastern Republican front-runner, Mitt Romney, who can’t articulate conservative principles. And we have a Beltway insider with massive moral baggage, Newt Gingrich, who believes he’s above living conservative principles. Via Hot Air:
[Ex-wife Marianne Gingrich] kind of guessed it, of course. Women usually do. But did she know the woman was in her apartment, eating off her plates, sleeping in her bed?
She called a minister they both trusted. He came over to the house the next day and worked with them the whole weekend, but Gingrich just kept saying she was a Jaguar and all he wanted was a Chevrolet. “‘I can’t handle a Jaguar right now.’ He said that many times. ‘All I want is a Chevrolet.’”
He asked her to just tolerate the affair, an offer she refused.
He’d just returned from Erie, Pennsylvania, where he’d given a speech full of high sentiments about compassion and family values.
The next night, they sat talking out on their back patio in Georgia. She said, “How do you give that speech and do what you’re doing?”
“It doesn’t matter what I do,” he answered. “People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”

Was that the “massive moral baggage”? Doesn’t seem that massive to me, really.

His ex-wife was complaining that he started in with a girlfriend while they were still married??? Really? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me since she was once the girlfriend that he was cheating on his wife with.

I just don’t find any of this hard hitting at all. Yeah, we know, he got divorced like 10 years ago. And he started in with his next wife early. Ok, got it. Don’t care much. Don’t think anyone else does either.

I agree…It wont matter. Everyone has known this info for years and years.

So what, then, is the big deal that everyone make about an article that Ron Paul may or may have not know about that was published in a newsletter of his 20 years ago? Apparently, serial adultery is a less grievous sin than not knowing the specifics of what a ghost writer may or may not have published in your name. 🤷

As a Catholic… you understand that Newt was fully forgiven through reconciliation.

Ron Paul is never going to be the nominee. Ever. He is never going to be President.

I know that. If he has made a full and sincere confession, he is forgiven by God. Unfortunately the American political apparatus isn’t quite so forgiving. 🤷

And the more I look at it, the more I am beginning to see the reality of 4 more years of Obama.

South Carolina is Newt’s last chance

Interview with Newt’s ex-wife to air on ABC?

“ABC plans to air an interview with Marianne Gingrich Thursday night on Nightline, after the second and final debate before the South Carolina primary on Saturday. Ms. Gingrich was married to the former House speaker for 18 years. After they divorced, Mr. Gingrich married his current wife, Callista, with whom he had an extramarital affair.” - WSJ

“If the interview does air tomorrow, how hard will Santorum and Romney go after him at the debate over it? Santorum’s desperate to have social conservatives unite behind him, but this is an awfully messy attack to try with the, er, “Chevrolet” sitting in the audience in front of him.” - Hot Air

No. Paul won’t go third party. I believe that he will (reluctantly) endorse whomever the GOP offers as a sacrifice to the gods of American politics.

Romney is too moderate and will alienate Independents and disenfranchised Democrats.

Gingrich has too much baggage. Whatever your opinion of Obama’s politics, regarding his personal life, he is a saint compared to Gingrich.

Santorum doesn’t appeal to anyone outside of the hardcore conservative GOP base.

Paul is unelectable for (insert your favorite anti-Paul arguement here).

So, the Republicans love to talk about pro-life, small government, sound fiscal policy, and sensible foreign policy. They will get none of it in Gingrich or Romney, for they never met a government program they didn’t like. In 2012, we will get Big Government - Republican Style or Big Government - Democrat Style. Either way, liberty looses, the American people loose, well-connected bureaucrats and political insiders win.

I think Romney would win … handily.

I don’t. 🤷

He is being aggressively propped up by the likes of FoxNews and other media outlets, but he is hardly a favorite among the Tea Party or Evangelical Christians. Alot of Catholics have issues with him and his faith, and most small government conservatives see him as no practical difference from Obama.

Polls show Romney beats Obama. and polls show people trust Romney with the economy over Obama.

I think with Newt… we will hear… 24/7 new sex charges against him and the economy debate will get lost in all the smears…and the truth about all the affairs.

Those religious voters who (like me) have a problem with Mormonism, would rather have Romney than Obama.

The most recent revelations about Gingrich are just attempts by the Main Stream Media to clear the decks to assure Obama’s re-election.

The MSM needs to come with something to undermine the competition.

The issue is gross mismanagement of the economy … the Solyndras, the pipelines, the electricity supply [WHICH … the cost of which, Obama has pledged to necessarily skyrocket.]

You don’t NEED to like Gingrich … you need to vote for someone who will follow the Constitution and put forth legislation that will boost the economy.

How do you feel about Obama living like a king … frequent golf, jet setting (on separate planes) to wonderful vacation spots … ON THE PUBLIC DIME.

Romney and Gingrich have boosted the economy. Perry is a long-time governor of the most prosperous state in the nation. Paul has detailed knowledge of the misadventures of the Federal Reserve system [read his book, “End the Fed”.]

Santorum is dedicated pro-life … as are all of the Republican candidates … as are many of those who have dropped out of the race … Bachman, Palin, … and some of the non-candidates who are likely to be tapped for key positions … Rubio, Christie …

Not me you have to worry about. I am crawling over broken glass to vote for anyone but Obama.

Keep in mind… you wont hear any of that during the election. You will see Obama the happy family man while Newt takes constant questions over affairs and divorcing sick wives…
maybe the DNC will pay a couple ‘un named’ staffers to claim sexual harassment.

We have a country where way too many people dont pay attention. I have friends and family like that. Those people have never and will never hear of Soylandra…or having the dog flown back on Air Force 1 for a photo op at petsmart…

Nationally he had 37% to Romney’s 21% back in December.

The ad says that Gingrich “co-sponsored a bill with Nancy Pelosi that would have given $60 million a year to a U.N. program supporting China’s brutal one-child policy.” Actually, the bill attempted to address climate change, and a third of House members were co-sponsors. The bill did propose money for the United Nations Population Fund, but it stated specifically that its funding could not be used for “involuntary sterilization or abortion or to coerce any person to accept family planning.” The ad’s claim rests on repeated distortions, so we rate the statement Pants on Fire!

Rep. Trent Franks Endorses Gingrich for President
newsmax.com/Politics/Rep-TrentFranksEndorsesGingrichforPresident/2012/01/13/id/424189

“Newt Gingrich’s singularly bold plan for economic recovery, his unmatched record of conservative achievement and job creation, his unwavering commitment to the core principles enshrined in our Constitution, and his unmatched debate skill means he is far and away the best Republican candidate to challenge and defeat Barack Obama this November.”

“Lastly, I believe Newt Gingrich’s plan to restore the proper role of the judicial branch under the Constitution is the most effective and well-thought out plan of any candidate seeking to address the heretofore unchallenged judicial oligarchy that has cost the lives of 50 million unborn children, has undermined American national security, and continues to threaten Americans’ most cherished values and religious liberty.”
Politifact??!! LOL!! Don’t tell me you fall for their “truth” meters and the pretense of unbiased factchecking! Politifact is a project run by the Tampa Bay Times. In 2003, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette described the Tampa Bay Times as a “usually liberal” newspaper. I would take Politifact’s factual selection and context with a grain of salt.

But back to Newt and the bill (H.R. 1078), that Newt and Pelosi cosponsored in 1989:

SEC. 1102. FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES. (a) POLICY- It is the policy of the United States that family planning services should be made available to all persons requesting them. (b) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS- There are authorized to be appropriated a minimum of $500,000,000 for fiscal year 1991, $540,000,000 for fiscal year 1992, and $580,000,000 for each of fiscal years 1993, 1994, and 1995 for family planning services provided under authorized programs. Of the funds appropriated, not less than 16 percent, or $60,000,000, whichever is less, shall be available annually for the United Nations Population Fund.”

Lifesite News had this to say on Newt’s bill:

The bill in question, the “Global Warming Prevention Act of 1989,” never came before Congress for a vote. While the bill would have provided $60 million for the United Nations Population Fund, which has been found to be complicit in China’s one-child policy, it barred funds for “involuntary sterilization or abortion” and “the coercion of any person to accept family planning services.” President Reagan’s Mexico City Policy, which forbade taxpayer funding of foreign abortions, was also in effect at the time. President Clinton repealed the policy in 1993. However, there remained concerns about the fungibility of the funds to UNFPA. Gingrich’s website states, “Newt supported a very limited aspect of the 1989 bill that promoted hydrogen energy research.” (In other words, an excuse)

Lifesite News goes on to report that:

"However, Newt did support taxpayer-funded abortion while he was Speaker of the House. In 1995, Gingrich publicly supported “funding in the case of rape or incest, or [to save the] life of the mother,” backed funding for embryonic stem-cell research, and later offered his endorsement to Republicans who supported partial-birth abortion. The Des Moines Register reported in November, “Gingrich has switched his position on federal funding. He now thinks the government should not ask taxpayers to pay for any abortions.”

Gingrich caused a stir in December, before the Iowa caucuses, when he said life begins at “implantation,” then backpedaled to say life begins at “conception.”

Now, contrast Newt’s record with Ron Paul’s, and I think you will realize who the true pro-life conservative is.

If all you care about is someone who is a good debater (a sophist in other words) then by all means, vote for Newt.

I’m not willing to take a chance on pretty faces and soothing voices this election. The stakes are too high this time I will vote strictly based on the candidate’s record. As far as I am concerned, Ron Paul is the only candidate who a truly pro-life, pro-constitution voting recored and is not afraid to be unpopular with or chide his own Party for their failure to live up to their supposed conservative values.

If you want Obama for a second term then please vote for anyone OTHER than Ron Paul.

only way Obama wins is if Ron Paul goes third party.
Judging from the “Obama vs.” polls, Obama wins for sure if we get behind Gingrich or Santorum. The only chance we have of getting in a pro-life President is to get behind Paul.

Obama head to head polls are pretty worthless at this point in the campaign.

Ya, well the national Right to Life committee isn’t overly concerned with the Constitution, either.

If we aren’t going to agree that the Constitution is the basis for our legal system, and, dare I say, our society as a whole, why bother having one?

How is the Right to Life committee not concerned with the Constitution?
