Gingrich has a lifetime rating from the Nsational Right to Life Comittee of 100% Pauls rating is 69%
Well, that does not speak well for the National Right to Life Comittee, given Newt’s record on this issue. Wasn’t Newt just recently confused over just when life begins. As far as I know, Ron Paul has never been confused in this manner. Maybe it is time for someone of authority in the Church to take an unbiased look as to just how they “rate” an individual.

By the way, we all know that Ron Paul is more pro-life than Newt Gingrich. His record demonsrates it. Has Newt Gingrich used his great debating skills to publicly support the 2005 and 2007 Sanctity of Life Act that Ron Paul keeps re-introducing that has specifically DEFINED life as beginning at conception?

I suggest you read "Ron Paul’s Potential Catholic Problem"by Christopher Manion at lewrockwell.com/manion/manion98.1.html

If Gingrich gets the nomination, folks like me simply will not be able to vote for him.
Code:
America needs a person of principle in the White House. Gingrich doesn't meet that minimum requirement. He is an opportunist extraordinaire, whose goal above all else is to be elected president. He somehow thinks he deserves the honor and is fated to get it.

The main concern I have is that he is unstable. It worries me to imagine a man who has such emotional instability in the Oval Office, commander of our armed forces, the most powerful person in all the world. He also can be petty, intemperant, bitter, vain, and an 'historian' who twists and distorts history to glorify himself.

Gosh, I don't know where to turn. I had hoped for Pawlenty, then he withdrew. Perry looked good at first, but now he is leaving the battlefield. Santorum might have made a decent Pope, but he is simply too pious and too dogmatic to represent the broad spectrum of the American people. Ron Paul has some good ideas, but too many bad ones.

That leaves Romney, who doesn't excite the electorate. And, in all candor, I have minor reservations about giving Mormonism the prestige that would come with his election. I am supposed to believe more than enough already and wonder how Mormons can swallow an entire additional book full of pseudo-history that they accept as fact.

Will it be Romney or Obama? Tough choice. I will vote, perhaps third party. Depends upon how the campaigns pan out.

Judging from the “Obama vs.” polls, Obama wins for sure if we get behind Gingrich or Santorum. The only chance we have of getting in a pro-life President is to get behind Paul.
Paul will never get his party’s nomination. Now can we please move on to reality?🙂

Okay, no problem. Romney will get the nomination and loose to Obama because he fails to inspire Independents to even leave the house to vote for anyone.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Independent voters, who helped propel President Barack Obama to victory in the 2008 election, could be an obstacle in his bid for a second term in the White House, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll published on Wednesday.
A majority of independent voters have soured on Obama’s presidency, disapprove of his handling of the economy and do not have a clear idea of what he hopes to accomplish if re-elected, the Times reported.
Only 31 percent of independent voters have a favorable opinion of the president and two-thirds say he has not made real progress in fixing the economy, the newspaper said.
In 2008, Obama won support from 52 percent of independent voters, compared with 44 percent who supported Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
Nearly half of independents say they have not formed an opinion of Mitt Romney, the front-runner in the Republican race for the nomination to challenge Obama in the November general election, the survey found.
Among all voters, 38 percent view Obama favorably, 45 percent unfavorably and 17 percent have no opinion, the survey showed. Voters were evenly divided in a matchup between Obama and Romney, but Obama fared better against other Republican candidates, the Times said
Looking at the Republican race, the poll suggests voters are not satisfied with the crop of candidates vying for the right to challenge Obama, the Times reported. Nearly 7 in 10 Republican voters said they want more choices.
The national telephone poll of 1,154, including 1,021 registered voters, was conducted January 12-January 17 and had a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.

Very interesting.

as much as I hate his personal life , I have to admit the guy has some good common sense.

It is a tough choice right now, IMO. I am closer to Gingrich when it comes to his stances on issues, and he is certainly a better debater than Romney. I still think Romney is more electable in the general election and has less to attack for the Democrats.

Since my primary is still a month+ away, I don’t know if there will be much decide by then. It will be interesting to see.

I am with ya.

My worry is Gingrich in the general.

Not that my opinion on the primary matters… we dont have ours til May 18th.
and I will vote for whoever is the nominee.

Let’s hope you are wrong and the Republican Party does not destory what little true conservatism is left in the Party. I think this election will be the dear Party’s last chance to get it right. Let’s pray that South Carolina votes for the only candidate with a CONSISTENT, PROVEN pro-life, pro-Constitution, pro-American RECORD: Ron Paul. Let’s hope South Carolina gets back to “reality” quickly.

After listening to Ron Paul at the Personhood USA Pro-Life Presidential Forum yesterday (youtube.com/watch?v=Hv7wNgZWU9c), one word kept coming to mind to describe the Santorum, Gingrich and Romney (who did not attend the pro-life forum due to a “scheduling conflict”). That word is “fungible.”

Exactly. Last election I voted for Romney (versus McCain) by mail…the day before he pulled out of the race. 😛

It will be interesting to see if Gingrich makes this a real race.

I hope to God Newt drags this race out longer because the man is an entertainer:

Newt Gingrich Promises Palin a Presidential Appointment and Commits a Felony

I don’t usually listen to AM talk radio but the other night I was going to work and there was this guy named Savage on. Now from what I could garner, this Savage character sounds like he is an Israeli-Firster and was really pushing for a war with Iran and so I couldn’t say that I agree with everything he was saying but he made an interesting point with regard to Newt Gingrich. He basically said that Newt Gingrich makes for a great soundbite, but he warned that Gingrich will destroy the Republican Party and hand Obama the election. Again, this was coming from someone who sounded like a neoconservative. LOL!!!

I was for Perry but… the power of forgiveness in reconciliation makes that statement not in my belief system.

and your other link is the Daily Kos which has ZERO credibility. so I wont even click on it.

Obama is a failure. An utter dismal failure and I am crawling over broken glass in a hail storm to vote for whoever is the nominee against him.

When you can defend his dismal failure with a plan… or some sort of coherent message… then some might listen… But attacks on Palin… wont do it, that has gotten so old its become absurd.

Savage is not his real name.

And in real life, he has a PhD in nutrition and has written a bunch of books on nutrition.

Here’s the relevant section, since you are afraid to take a peek:

TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 29 > § 599
§ 599. Promise of appointment by candidate

Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

Probably true. But you know what I always say about our electorate. That’s how we got in this mess in the first place. And any time you let the party “intelligentsia” choose the nominee ala McCain and Dole, you get in trouble.

Everyone keeps mentioning Newt’s baggage. Can someone please tell me what his baggage is?

I know that twice he started a relationship with his next wife before being divorced from his current wife, but aside from that what is there?

irr.org/mit/neuhaus.html - Article by the late Fr.Richard Neuhaus , on Mormonism ; he concludes that it comes closest to Islam .

While we focus on Gingrch’s hopefully forgiven past and adulteours affairs , are we getting diverted , to see that we are dealing with , in a candidate who subsribes to the belief that all Christians , esp. Catholics , are of the whore of Babylon !

Media at times commented about the lack of warmth in both Romney and Huntsman ; is it that hard to find where such an attitude could be coming from !

Their high positions in LDS is known and accpeted and thus , the belief system that they might be subscribing to as well .( True , we have the example such as of Nicodemeus , members of Pharisees who still believed in Jesus ; thus, there too , only The Lord would know the deepest areas of their hearts .)

Gingrich , by some sad quirk of destiny , had fallen for whatever complex state a teen might be in , whose father had left him and his mother ,while Gingrich was a newborn !

We can see the effect of that 'familial bondage ’ again , in his next relationship - of wanting to run , when faced with responsibilties !

Even the breakup with Marianne , the second wife - true, there can be enough blame
( would be good to find out if other factors that usually lead to marial breakups - contraceptive and use of any artificial means ) played a part too ! )

Was it by some hand of Providence that brought Callista , to his life , to help him to heal , finding what he needed finally -even if that too was through tortous paths , like that of the Israelits , wandering in the desert .

Seeing an 80 + Holy Father , persevering in the care of The Churh , in the midst of all that he has to face - could that have been a moment of reckoning - an identification with God and Father who does not leave us , in the midst of human failures !

Could he thus be waning to do his share , to make up for past mistakes too - such as , along with other good proposals, may be planning to implement aggressive measures, to prevent assaults in jails , the military etc :

In these days of easily available video monitoring measures , like done in Israeli controlled areas of Jerusalem, that could bring jobs and sense of security as well as accounatbilty , that 'there is someone who cares and watches over ’ ; might even help to instill the supernatural sense of being in watchful presence too !

As to the candidates who have primary responsibilties towards their young families , we may not fathom what it is that moves them ; yet , one has to wonder if that is an example of real profamily values or are there elements of escapism or other ambitions that make them loose focus on primary roles !

And too , ours is possibly a nation that need interpersonal forgiveness at massive levels and like the episodes in Old Testament , read again and again , not with an enemy induced accusatory spirit , but to bring to awarenss potentials of human failures and God’s mercy , hope that all these narratives would move the nation, to a sense of asking for and recieving merciful forgiveness , in many areas and if such is the case , then all the drama may not be just a waste of time !

Hope it would only help to make many realise how much our leaders need prayers and to help fathers who minimise their roles , to take in what the far fetched effects can be !

May God’s mercy be there , for our generations past too , to set us free from effects of failures - may His infinite merits , as God incarnate , bring us the freedom , from the claims of the enemy !
