God wrote the Bible not the Catholic Church

From the Greek logos which does mean word, but it has always referred to the Second Person of God, not Scripture. Did you think that God’s word was Scripture? 🙂
What else could it be? Jesus is the Word, and He became flesh and dwelt amongst us.
Pease read Psalm 119.

God Bless,
Robert

Your response is unclear. Do you believe that logos is Jesus? Or do you believe that logos is Scripture? Which is it please? Thank you.

Joseph Smith claimed to have (magic glasses) just what you are talking about. But his bible is not the same.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice” John 10:3-16. Anyone who is not one of God’s sheep wouldn’t understand, or hear His voice. Jesus spoke in parables much for the same reason, so that those that were not His, would not understand what He was saying.
The Apostle Paul wrote that the natural mind cannot understand spiritual things 1 Cor. 2:14
When we are born again, we are a new creation, and all things become new. Maybe being born again is the “magic button” that you are looking for.

God Bless,
Robert

Relevance?

Did I say magic button? Or did I say invisible button? Please do not equivocate. Thank you.

Being born again interprets scripture in exactly what way? We are talking about interpreting scripture.

Tenses in the Bible are there for a reason, and are not up for debate.
Are plural and singular a matter of tense? Hint: no.
For what reason exactly do tenses exist in the Bible? Please specify.
Why are tenses not up for debate?

The lineage of my Church traces it’s roots back to Jesus Christ who is our High Priest.
Lineage requires more than one generation. So far you have claimed Jesus and yourself in your lineage.

God inspired the writers (40 of them) to write down His infallible Word (66 books) for our use.

It is a story of God (all of Him) creating, dealing with, loving and forgiving us… His greatest creation.

It is the only authority we need, and we can interperet it through prayer and wisdom gained via the Holy Spirit.

Tradition is folly.

Jesus never followed tradition, He did His Father’s will, and cited scripture.

Jesus rebuked traditionalists to their face using scripture.

Scripture is above the pope.

Follow Jesus not the pope.

Follow Jesus not the pope
Well, you see, that’s impossible, because in order to follow Jesus I have to be a member of the one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church that He founded. And to do that, I have to be a member of the Catholic Church, which is headed by the Pope.

Sorry, but the Early Church recognized 73 books as inspired canon and even the KJV had them all up until some Bible society removed them in the mid 1800s.

As for your 2nd statement. I can’t tell. Different Baptists teach differing doctrines and they in turn differ from the, Methodists, Assembly of God, Presbyterians, Lutherans, and the myriad other non-Catholic denoms and non-denoms.

You assert that you have Biblical authority, and yet you offer something different from the New Testament and the early church on a whole host of beliefs. That’s not the Holy Spirit’s doing…
Tradition is folly.
That’s not what the Word of God says.
1st Corinthians 11:2 & 2nd Thessalonians 2:15 and 3:6.

The apostle Jude would disagree since he quotes two traditional non-canonical Jewish texts in verses 9, 14 & 15 of his epistle.

Seems he did not consider tradition to be “folly” at all.
Jesus never followed tradition, He did His Father’s will, and cited scripture.
Really? Matthew 2:5 & 6 disagree, since verse 6 is not found in the OT and therefore is taken from traditional Jewish writings.

Matthew 2:23 find that in the OT. You won’t.
Jesus rebuked traditionalists to their face using scripture.
But not scripture alone…
Scripture is above the pope.
Follow Jesus not the pope.
You need to get off the anti-pope bit. You don’t even know the man.

Nor do you know what Catholics believe or who we follow. You just seem to know what you’ve been told. That’s teachings of men in error right off the top.

If all interpretations and translations were the same, why would people need to study the original languages (Greek and Hebrew) to get to the real meaning?

Here are many translations of the same line (Matthew 16:18). All translations are somewhat different. So in answer to your question, are there errors in certain translations/interpretations of the Bible–most probably “yes.”

As to which translation/interpretation of this particular line is the most accurate, I can’t say for sure since I am not a Bible scholar. Did Jesus intend for **all Christians **to be Greek Bible scholars so that we could get to the heart of the Gospel? IMO “no,” this is an unrealistic expectation. Not **all Christians **have the time or the mental capacity to be Bible scholars.

*Matthew 16:18

This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.
AMP–And I tell you, you are Peter [Greek, Petros–a large piece of rock], and on this rock [Greek, petra–a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it [or be strong *to its detriment or hold out against it].

DARBY–And I also, I say unto thee that thou art Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and hades’ gates shall not prevail against it.

NIRV–Here is what I tell you. You are Peter. On this rock I will build my church. The gates of hell will not be strong enough to destroy it. *
WYC–And I say to thee, that thou art Peter, and on this stone I shall build my church, and the gates of hell shall not have power against it. [And I say to thee, for thou art Peter, and upon this stone I shall build my church, and the gates of hell shall not have might, or strength, against it.]
WE–I tell you this. You are Peter. On this rock I will build my church. The power of death will not destroy it.
NIVUK–And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
TNIV–And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of death will not overcome it.
NWT–Also, I say to you, You are Peter, and on this rock-mass I will build my congregation, and the gates of Ha´des will not overpower it.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

… The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.

When did Jesus use the term “ONE HOLY AND CATHOLIC CHURCH.”?

A pope named Constantine (your first pope) said that. Christ founded His church on the confession of Peter. Peter confessed He was the Messiah God. Jesus said that His church would be persecuted, not the persecutor. Catholics are responsible for the deaths of over 100 000 000 European non-catholics between 350 AD and 1808 AD. How could this be Christ’s church, when it follows an elected fool who wears gold, purple and scarlet… like the whore of Babylon in Revelations.

follow Jesus not the pope

Your guys went into schism, and then started their own new religions. Just as Jesus schismated against the Jews, and started the Catholic Church.

Catholics are not Jews, because Jesus made a split with the Jews. (They crucified Him for this.)

The Protestants are not Catholic, because their original leaders made a split with the Catholic Church and started up their own religions. A great deal of violence also ensued from that - on both sides.

Point being, when you left, you didn’t stay. You created a new religion, and that religion dates back to the day that you started it. You can’t have it both ways - you can’t rebel against the old religion, start up a new religion, and then say that you are still faithful to the old religion. You can’t break off all connection, and then say that you are in some way connected. It just doesn’t work that way.
Actually, my church the Ana-Baptists or Baptists decided to have nothing to do with the new Roman Religion called catholicism in the fourth century. There are books and epistles which document that my church is from the first century, and has been all the way through history, the same. It is accounted at the Council of Trent that Ana-Baptists had been suffering persecution for 1200 years at that time.

The Roman church is the oldest Apostate church definately.

God dictated the Bible? Wow! Way cool! Just like the Koran, right?

Can’t figure out how to interpret using the Scripture within though. I’m not very techno-savy. Is there a button?

I looked at the Scripture within and couldn’t get it to interpret. Just looked like more writing to me. Really great writing. Loved it.

But no interpretation. So I reckon there must be a button. If I can’t find the button, can I interpret it myself?

:bounce: Eh? Eh? Can I?
The Holy Spirit through prayer will define the Scriptures for you, He is God after all. I would rather be taught by God than man. The Bible says itself how to interpret it.

When did Jesus use the term “ONE HOLY AND CATHOLIC CHURCH.”?
Where did Jesus use the term Trinity? Where did Jesus use the terms sola scriptura, or the term “Bible alone”?

Do you think these concepts are untrue as well?
A pope named Constantine (your first pope) said that.
**
That’s a lie.** The Catholic Church has never had a pope named Constantine. Constantine was a ROMAN EMPEROR, a governmental authority figure, not the Pope.
Catholics are responsible for the deaths of over 100 000 000 European non-catholics between 350 AD and 1808 AD.
Prove it.

You’re calling JESUS an elected fool who wears gold, purple, and scarlet? That’s not very nice. 😦

The Holy Spirit through prayer will define the Scriptures for you, He is God after all. I would rather be taught by God than man. The Bible says itself how to interpret it.
If that’s true, why are their so many different Protestant denominations? If we are all infallible interpreters, which interpretation is the correct one?

I see that you are new. Heard of us how?
Hi

Yup I’m a newbee. God wants to save people so I’m here to tell you to follow Jesus His Son who saves, and quit listening to religious dead men in the vatican.

Never heard of you from anywhere.

I wonder how long before you catholics kick me off?

If that’s true, why are their so many different Protestant denominations? If we are all infallible interpreters, which interpretation is the correct one?
I don’t know why Jo Anna.

Perhaps the devil confuses things really well with his lies.

To be a Protestant one would have to come after Martin Luther.

My church is from the first century, we do not follow Luther or Calvin or anybody on Earth. We follow Christ.

Read the Trail of Blood.

The first Anabaptist church was what later came to be known as the Mennonite Church, which was actually started in Zurich, Switzerland, in January, 1525, by Conrad Grebel, Felix Manz, George Blaurock, and others, eleven years before Menno Simons renounced Catholicism. It came to be referred to as the Mennonite Church because Menno Simons became its most influential early leader. There were no Anabaptists around in the fourth century AD., though. The heresies of that era included Gnosticism, Arianism, and Nestorianism.

By the way, just FYI, the Emperor Constantine was never a Pope; he was not even Catholic. He was a pagan Emperor. He incorporated certain elements of Christianity into his own belief system, and he was baptized on his death-bed, but during his lifetime he was never even a member of the Church, let alone its leader. 😉

Everybody knows that God gave us the bible. It was given by God as a whole book from Genesis to Revelation. Everyting we need for life is in the bible. Protestants are right.we do not need a church of any kind. All we need is the Bible.

The Lord’s public ministry was not necessary, He could have done it in private. We have His word in the bible handed down to us from God. God gave us the bible. The Catholic Church put books into it that God did not pen. Protestants took them out again!

We do not need the Catholic Church as we are free to interpret it as we want. That is why athiests interpret it different to SDA which is different to JW’s which is different to Moslems, which is different to mainstream Protestants which is different to Catholic and Orthodox.

It can be interpreted however you want. My agnostic friends interpret it and they dont even believe in it.

So we did not need a Catholic Church. The Catholic Church the pope and His Apostles were actually not necessary.

Catholics are idolatrous because they worship the Father Son and Holy Spirit, Mary and the saints. You should worship only one God and the Bible.
Well, the Catholic Church may not have written the Bible, but she certainly edited the thing!!

I don’t know why Jo Anna.

Perhaps the devil confuses things really well with his lies.
Well, there’s one thing we can agree on.
To be a Protestant one would have to come after Martin Luther.
No, a Protestant is one who protests against the one true Church, the Catholic Church. So yes, you are a Protestant.
My church is from the first century, we do not follow Luther or Calvin or anybody on Earth. We follow Christ.
So… let me ask you something. When you were a child, did you listen to and obey your parents? If so, did that make you unChristian since you were following both your parents AND Jesus?
