Fair enough. Maybe we should avoid all those dangerous places and hang out in places where we are a lot safer. I mean, when was there a recent mass shooting in a brothel?

we need to provide secure environments for teaching.
We also need ‘redirects’ that get real results with problem students.
Pretending the problem doesn’t exist is probably as bad as just locking them up in Juvie.
I get it. Good point. Well done. I agree. Lets make it less easy for people with problems to get access to guns.

Oh, sorry. That’s NOT what you meant?

That costs money. In Texas, we do not spend much money for mental health, at least as evidenced by our budget. Our prisons are our mental health facilities. Since the criminal justice system gives more freedom to juvenile defenders, it is natural we will have a lot of teenagers and young adults that do not receive much help.

It would be foolish to say that an emphasis on mental health problems will prevent all school shootings though, but only because we need to eliminate the word “emphasis” and “all” from the discussion of violence. Increased help for the mentally ill is but one of several areas where reform is needed.

Your deflection skills are extra ordinary, I’ll give you that.

But your point actually fits with my point. Focusing on effectively redirecting troubled teens very well should include removing guns from some of the homes.

you can try and work out why it does happen. And try these two simple, easy to remember words:

Gun. Culture.
we have had a gun culture for a long time. the school killings in these numbers are recent.

it is the subjective morality they are teaching that is the problem.

Don’t shoot!! pleassssse… I stumbled on this forum by accident.😣

These kids aren’t mentally healthy, but I haven’t read they had clear untreated mental illness.

Effective redirects may be more about getting them connected with functional adults and getting them connected with a community.

I do that with my cowboy .357. Yep!

And 2" groupings from 750 yards with my snubbie! Somebody top that!(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

In Texas, we can shoot the needles off of a cactus in Big Ben Park from a the high bluff of El Paso.

Ha! You see that flea sitting on that hummingbird’s tailfeather oh, about 250 miles off, there?
Watch this…

Worth repeating.

The timing of the school shootings seems to mirror Joe Biden’s desire for gun free zone signs.

What ought to be the starting point for addressing this problem is the fact that the overwhelming percentage of school shooters are themselves students. What’s with that?

Psycho-pharmceuticals.

I’d add the obvious that American kids are also more unchurched and/or God-less than ever before.

Yes. Not enough Westerns, with masculine male role models.

It’s kinda strange to watch them with current sensibilities,
these role models weren’t very big on consent. force a kiss and she’ll come around.
The stuff I grew up with.

Short of being a psychopath-murderer (although not all psychopaths are murderer’s)?.

Deep seated insecurity. Lack of strong remodels. An extreme sense of being a victim/persecuted mixed with delusional psychotic tendencies. Put some bad social experiences in the mix. I can see how a person would take revenge on his fellow students who from his perspective happen to have a life, friends, family, a future

We must remember, people are not born like this. They are born innocent like everyone else. And their motives are very different to normal killers/criminals. No, people are not born like this, they are made, although society doesn’t intentionally make them. They are born out of our ignorance and inaction. Their existence is not at all surprising giving how humans treat each-other on a daily basis. We are all sinners, and in a sense they are a product of our sins.

We should pray for these fallen souls. I know that’s a controversial idea, knowing what they have done. But we should pray for them…
