Gun sales skyrocket during coronavirus pandemic

Mar. 18, 2020 - 2:02 - The FBI says background checks surged to a near record of 3 million in February; national correspondent William La Jeunesse reports from Los Angeles.

One of the people interviewed who said he has come around on this issue, may still be up the creek.

Who knows what will happen during his ten-day waiting period? We have seen power-abuses where city politicians have taken it upon themselves to suspend gun sales.

We saw the same category of politicians and Government officials committing human rights abuses with Hurricane Katrina too.

The citizens of the leftist cities have self-destucted on this issue.

Even if their state “allows” them their rights,
good luck getting ammunition.

They really put themselves behind the proverbial 8-ball.

Addendum: This just in.

Like I said above. A lot can happen during an illegal (my opinion) Government ten-day infringement “waiting period”.

I don’t know if this newest infringement against the citizens, includes going to a gun store (where there may be many people waiting).

If they had appropriate laws, they could just go down to the local hardware store and pick up their ammo and firearm(s) that THEY determined fit them the best without these infringements.

But those hardware stores are probably closed too. (Why would hardware stores even be open with their Government not allowing public free association between people?)

Meanwhile CA Governor Gavin Newsom will be well-protected by MANY fire arms. At least we can rest easy about his personal protection.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is reporting background checks are up 300 percent over where they were at this same time last year.

Mark Oliva, NSSF Public Affairs director, told Breitbart News, “FBI NICS informed NSSF that on Monday, March 16, 2020, volume for background checks was 300 percent higher than it was on March 16, 2019.” . . . .

The FBI is warning that state-level shutdowns due to the coronavirus may delay the background checks required to purchase a new or used handgun at retail.

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) gives one of three responses when a background check for a gun purchase is performed. It either gives an approval; a fail, which means no sale; or a delay, which means the instant review can be extended up to three business days for further records checks on the would-be buyer. . . .

I recall the late Senator Wellstone reassuring Americans that this invention would be “instant” (which is what the I in NICS stands for). Not to worry.

Sure.

I also recall Bush saying when he got in office he found out the Feds were keeping the transaction records LONGER than the (I think it is) 90 day period.

They were illegally sequestering information about private citizens.

He said he had the illegal databases purged. (We now know with electronic records even THAT can be recovered).

Nobody in Government was held accountable for this unlawful action (that was publicized anyway).

Nobody went to jail.

Gun Companies pick up sails during our darkest times.
You can imagine headlines," Satan is bullish on ammo this week."

We need more guns…when they come for our toilet paper rolls… they’ll have to pry them from our cold dead hands.

Maybe they can shoot the virus dead in it’s tracks.

Kind of like nuking the eye of the hurricane.

There, that should do it!~

Shooting someone over supplies?
Most of the time, the mere threat or possibly that a property owner has a firearm is deterrent enough to avoid a shooting.
The overwhelming majority of times a gun is used for self defense doesn’t involve it actually being fired.

There was another meme expressing hope that we don’t get a virus that causes dysentery because the writer feared a run on available supplies of nasal spray.

On the other hand, some are engaging in more self-destructive behaviors . . . .

Marijuana sales skyrocket amid coronavirus pandemic

Legal weed purveyors from California to Colorado have been reporting lines of customers outside their shops.

As the global death toll continues to rise from the coronavirus pandemic and anxiety for Americans escalates along with the unemployment rate, operators of cannabis dispensaries across the country have reported that business is booming.

Designated by many cities as “essential businesses,” legal weed purveyors from Oakland, California, to Denver have been reporting long lines of customers outside their shops similar to those recently seen at entrances to grocery stores and pharmacies.

“We’ve had both lines of cars and lines of people wrapping around our buildings,” Steve DeAngelo, co-founder and chairman emeritus of Harborside dispensaries in California, told ABC News. "It’s not about getting high . . . .

Sales of Doritos and Taco Bell, coincidentally, also up 159% in CA.

I saw a guy in the shop today with a trolley full of oysters - So Shell Fish.

No shells in the trolley for his .50 calibre.

Hearing this often sends the bad guy on his way.

Or, so I’ve heard 😃

I don’t know any gun owner planning on killing anyone either, kind of like I don’t put my seat belt on planning to have an accident.

Luckily, the Church allows for the use of both, so everyone should be fine with it and move on.
