If someone asks for your…
Give your…as well.
I think on a Catholic web site my point is appropriate. Especially when the encounter is lethal force and " stuff". Supermarkets are open. Assistance hopefully is coming for those who need it.

What if it doesn’t “come”?

What if the food-stocking people at Wal Mart are sick?

Or the truckers are tired of being over-worked and accused of price-gouging, or sick of being out and about putting THEIR families at risk when they come home, when they can just sit around at home and get free checks from the Government?

Then what?

What if the police are sick and now YOU ARE in “need” because an unruly drunk happening by wants to inspect your pantry for booze for himself, and enter into your home to “see for himself” with his friends? And they are already cat-calling your wife who is standing there next to you.

But 9-1-1 diesn’t even get answered.

And tomorrow, electricity rationing begins, only giving you power from 9PM to 6 AM?

What now?

And the police are over-taxed with other problems and are under-staffed because they have had a Corona Virus death in the department, and other police in the department are now sick.

Then what?

You can make up things if you want to. The rest of us are discussing gun sales. Feel free to do so with facts any time.

What if? You still don’t shoot people over noodles and potato chips

You still don’t shoot people over noodles and potato chips
Just what I thought.

You inject a made-up premise and throw it into what I said.

NOBODY has said anybody should shoot anybody over “noodles and potato chips”. NOBODY!

You are employing the fallacy of equivocation.

This is a sign of a weak argument.

Your arguments are not persuasive.

I have been addressing the idea of shooting someone trying to steal supplies.

Was gun sales part of the sermon on the Mount?
I have been addressing the idea of shooting someone trying to steal supplies.
And I have been addressing the idea of providing for your family. Or neighbors. Especially when Big Government and Big Business FAILS them.

You have been poor in spirit enough to lead your family in prayer each night, hoping for the best, but being prepared for the worst.

Or mourn while you are praying for your dead neighbor because the socialized medicine VA was shut-down, and the local private hospital was overwhelmed.

Or meek enough to admit your own shortcomings so you stay up at night praying alone now that everyone else in your family is well today and they are now all asleep, praying to Jesus to be a man of God, despite being dog-tired.

Thirst for righteousness for your kids or elderly neighbor who has just gotten his gas stolen that he needed to run his golf-cart to drive over to the river to get water with.

Or the pure in heart, because the neighbors KNOW you are a man of integrity, and will help protect their kids in a trustworthy manner without abusing them, while they are out attempting to barter some food for them. They KNOW they can count on you.

Or you had the mercy to admonish the sinner enough back when there was Mass and Confession, so that your friends that you had a faith-discussion with actually went to Confession THEN (because they NEEDED it, and NOW Confession is unavailable).

Or you were able to be the peacemaker when your elderly neighbor was being threatened by a gang, because they knew if they did not leave it would not end well. You were prepared and the bad guys backed-down because they understand you mean business.

Or you got persecuted on a social media site, for telling people to quit trusting in massive Government . . . . and begin frequenting the Sacraments instead because “now is the acceptable time” to do so, back when the Sacraments were available. Now they have special access to Jesus. But they pesecuted you and laughed you off because of your “sky-daddy” “God-talk”.

The Beatitudes.

You gotta love them.
MATTHEW 5:1-11 1 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.

He said:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

152 Detroit cops in coronavirus quarantine, 5 test positive

By Robert Gearty | Fox News

The Detroit Police Department is working the streets with 157 fewer cops as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The department said 152 of those officers have been quarantined due to the virus. Another five have tested positive. One civilian member of the department has also tested positive.

“I’ve not seen anything like this,” Detroit Police Chief James Craig told a news conference Friday, according to news radio station WWJ-AM. . . .

Robert (“Beto”) O’Rourke is showing his incrementalism. Incrementalism contextually here, is a dishonest long-term political paradigm to attempt to fool voters regarding the politician’s bogus “support” of the Second Amendment. Don’t buy into it. Never trust a politician who opposes The Constitution. Here is O’Rourke earlier saying he doesn’t want to take guns away. (See last video in this post.) We support the Second Amendment. Joe Biden Argues with Construction Workers over Guns: ‘You’re Full of S*** World News
This illustrates a few things in my opinion. Biden is not thinking well regarding social interactions. Biden has a habit of treating people like this. Biden doesn’t know what he is talking about (he is mixing up AR-15’s by calling them AR-14’s an obscure rifle that he almost certainly was not trying to refer to.) I think we should be ready to defend our homes. Looters don’t much break into inhabited residences. The current crisis does not involve a hurricane or flood.

Are those folks newly-armed going to protect retail outlets or protect their place in line for supplies?

OK. I’m not sure the current situation will present threats to those in homes. It seems another instance where the ‘end timers’ are stocking up for warfare in the streets. Myself, even in a situation such as Katrina, I’m not in favor of using deadly force to protect property. Force to protect people is something different.

On the shotgun issue, for protection first take out the sportman’s plug, giving you space for two more shells in the magazine. Then, if you chamber a round to warn someone, do it with a shell in your off hand so you can place another one in the magazine. You are then ready to rock and roll.

And I do keep one in the chamber with my 12 gauge pump. Its ok with a long gun but I refrain from that with a pistol. If you use a shotgun for home defense, remember it is hard to bring a long gun to bear in a situation where you could be in a hall or hiding in a closet. A handgun most likely is better if it comes to that.

(name removed by moderator). Very reasonable and level-headed response by you here.

Excellent post.

Watch for the potential threat. For those who come to your doorstep, the threat will be from their hands. Before anything happens the attacker will hunch his or her shoulders. Make a strange delivery person put a package on the ground so your hands won’t be full. Keep a foot behind the door so no one can charge in.

Be happy!

Didn’t understand your post but that is ok.
My point was not defending your kids. It was defending" stuff" with lethal force.
