Well I will go ask Hoss. Or Marshall Dillon. Or Lukas McCain.
I think that the greatest mythologizers of American history were TV westerns and pulp fiction. Those thrilling days of yesteryear! Do you think McCain could hit a target while doing that levering? Michener was at least a serious historian and a thorough researcher.

Did you have a relevant comment to add?

The law seems to be irrelevant in some jurisdictions now, like Philly, LA and SF. Laws protecting property are being intentionally ignored.
Not ignored. Reprioritized. It is a temporary measure at most.
Do you have a suggestion on how people protect their property and their right…
In some cases they may not be able to, and that may be just the way it goes. People’s lives are more important than property.

A concern might be that someone willing to break into the someone’s home might also be willing to kill the occupants.
In such a situation, one might not have much time for querying the intruder about his or her willingness to just take property.
It’s a difficult situation.

Ha, just checked a Bardstown Kentucky gun shop Facebook page.

Our Governor has issued an order for all non-essential retail businesses to close. A gun shop employee posted they would remain open. Evidently, there is a statute that excludes firearms.

I’m sure it will be in the news. If there is a stink over it, the store is really a sporting goods store. That may matter. We’ll see.

Actually, it isn’t. Seattle, SanFrancisco and other cities have adopted the policy irrespective of the pandemic.

So, just sit and back and take it. I suspect Americans probably won’t do that. Nor should they.
The right to property is central to a feee society.
