Hello, is anybody home?

In many cases, having one’s ideas challenged is not nastiness - it is prudence. However, perhaps a “charity” icon might be posted in threads when needed. Occasionally, being directly confronted/asked leads to increased understanding and possibly even the forging of a new, respectful relationship. Nevertheless…

Concupiscence = moderation needed. All great public dialog has a moderator. In our brighter moments here, we can aspire to greatness.

Initially, I saw a link in a thread on another site. I seem to recall the name being mentioned on a radio program or podcast. However, you know what a strange thing memory and recall really are, probably false.

Good point. We’ll need to find that line between respectfully disagreeing and being disrespectful.

Just an update to let you know that I’m planning to devote all next week to the remaining technical items needed to get this site live. At that point, I’ll reach out to my contacts at Catholic Answers so that they can promote this site.

I’ll give an update by December 11.

I wish you well! Like others have said figuring out how to tone down the meanness and political craziness would be helpful. None of that stuff was ever why I used to post here. Perhaps getting rid of the world news section might be helpful.

You really ought to think thru how you make money off this thing…I think you can, but its a challenge.

I missed the old CAF sometimes…with all of it imperfections…I learned a lot on it and it helped me.

I’ve heard a couple other suggestions to remove the world news section. I’ll take a closer look at that.

At this point, I’m not worried about making money, but I may put up some advertising later.

I also learned a lot on the old CAF. I was always a lurker, but still there were some very helpful posts.

I’ll pay to support! All other Catholic forums are infested with progressives who ruin the sense of unity.
?? There are at least two very active, very traditional Catholic forums where they pretty much eat progressives for lunch. Not that I think those forums really foster unity either, but that’s not their goal.

There is also at least one Catholic forum that has a couple of toxic progressive posters who are best just put on ignore.

Based on my experience operating a forum, people on both sides of the fence sometimes have difficulty understanding/ showing kindness or empathy to the other side. I think there’s a natural tendency for people to gravitate towards fora where most of the other posters share their own views as it cuts down on arguments and moderation.
