Cinette:
We enter the Kingdom of God when we become children of God - here on earth. It is the practice of our Faith that brings us to the Kingdom.
Umm that’s not what benedictus2, or Scott Hahn, means. It’s a bit more profound that your statement.

Although I admit what you say is valid, there’s just more to it.

Hi Snert, and Cinette, 👋

I would love God even if he told me go to hell! He is my God, deserving of all my love!
We become “Children of God” by being conceived.
We enter the Kingdom of God when we follow Jesus’ teaching, are baptised and follow His real church’s precepts, and eat His Flesh and drink His blood, just like He said! Then upon Judgment, if found worthly of the promises of Christ, we can enter into eternal glory with Jesus, Mary and all the other saints who have done Jesus’ biding throughout the ages have been praying for us!

God Bless **

Hi Numinous, 👋

**I was being silly:D Both of you make my head hurt trying to understand your postings! 😃 **

God Bless
I disagree. I like both your posts, Snert and Num.🙂

I may be wrong but I have gone through the respondents and I don’t think there is a singel protestant who has replied so far.

Wonder why that is.

The error in this statement is making Resurrection a consequence of heaven.

I would agree with you that I am in error if I thought of Heaven as a reward. I don’t. I think the opposite: Heaven is the consequence of the Resurrection.

Okay. I think it was the way you phrase your post which went: :If there was no heaven, then there would be no Resurrection, which means the hypothetical God of this thread would not be the god who is Jesus Christ "

This is why I concluded that for you there is a resurrection because there is a heaven.

But the question still remains valid for the simple reason that it is hypothetical or if you like a “what if” question.

I don’t understand the question. Do you mean the righteous would die and that’s it, or even the righteous would go to Hell?

Peaceful oblivion would be fine with me.
Why would Jesus go thru so much trouble to come down on earth and suffer for our salvation if at the end there is either hell or “peaceful oblivion”

No way, God had a plan for us.

You have only to look at creation to know that there is so much more.

👍

What about Nancy - she is Protestant.🙂

That is right! But I suppose I don’t consider her Protestant. I think what she believes is more in line with the Catholic faith because she does not believe in OSAS.🙂

And she certainly has her heart in the right place.😃

Aaah, but only because you know He won’t. Come on. Come clean.🙂

**Hi Ben, 👋

To tell you the absolute truth, I could not blame Him if he did tell me to go to Hell! There is so much more I could do, but I neglect to do. So I do what I can, and depend on his mercy and the grace His mother provides all the failtful who pray to her for intercession.
I am not a prideful person, I am a sinner:blush: I don’t deserve the gift of salvation but I do look forward to accepting it! 👍 **

Good question, actually. Without the Resurrection, would there be Heaven? Is there any need for Heaven if humans would never have died (sinned)? Hmmm…we cannot really say heaven is a place can we, since God the Father is in heaven, and God exists outside of time and space. Thus, heaven does, too. Hmmm…

Hi ben, 👋

Nancy’s heart would only be in the right place if it was in the real and Blood of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Otherwise she is just a nice person who hasn’t found the real Christian church that Jesus founded 2,000 years ago for the salvation of sinners!👍

See and people say I can’t be nice! **

Some years ago I was driving along and listening to a talk show when it was announced that Jesus’ grave was found somewhere in France. It was also said that he had Fathered a child - you know the usual rubbish!

In that instant I felt a strange empty feeling envelope me when I contemplated life without the hope of the Resurrection! It was a desperate feeling - a very lonely, empty, helpless feeling. Fortunately, it only lasted an instant.

So I ask what do atheists feel? I should ask my husband - in fact I just did - he said that he did believe that when you die you are dead and that it was disappointing. Now it is a different story. For me it was worse because I had gone from belief in Jesus and the Ressurection and Eternal Life to a suspended moment in time when I felt the hopelessness of *N O T H I N G! *I shall never forget that moment. In fact, it affects me now as I remember it. It will take a while to put that feeling aside.

Ai - the hopelessness of unbelief!

When I look at creation - at the people around me - at their talents and gifts - at science, music, poetry, architecture, engineering, L O V E …I KNOW there is more! I know it! I also often think of the moment NOW - how in an instant it will be gone forever! So I think, let me make this moment special before is escapes me. I look into the sky and I think of our maker and his promises and how one day we will know a happiness that surpasses all happiness we can conceive in this world. Is it not worth striving to attain this happiness?

But if heaven is where God is, then surely we have experienced heaven if have truly experienced His Love for as the little poem goes, where Love is God is there.
Time and space regardless.

I had a somewhat similar experience after reading a book called “Act of God” which I was forced to read because I was tutoring someone and this was part of his assignment.

That was probably the most awful feeling I ever felt.

That is why I am so thankful for the gift of Faith.

The way I look at it is this.

We can only conceive of 4 dimensions: height, width, depth and time - scientists can conceive of more but God is infinite - outside dimensions.

Although it is said that we were created in His imagine and likeness, God is inconceivable. We simply cannot imagine who or what God is. When we think of image and likeness we imagine God the Father with a long beard (perhaps LOL), Jesus as a 33 year old (LOL) and the Holy Spirit as a dove. But these are only images because our imagination is limited. Someone once said - whatever you think God is, He is not! We do not have a spiritual “ultrasound” machine to take a peep - like Mothers peep into their womb to see the babies. We have nothing like that but…

We know the swelling of our hearts when we communicate with God. We experience Jesus in the Eucharist. We feed on his Word. We still have lots of things. And…don’t forget we have LOVE - we have each other - we must share the LOVE we have.

Hey - life is beautiful!

Yes Benedictus - we believe through F A I T H not proof!!!

When we have Faith we do not need proof.
🙂

Well Nancy - see I am not talking behind your back! LOL;)

I would like to ask you a question - in the old days when you were Catholic did you ever attend the services of Holy Week? With a Missal in your hand to follow every word? Did you experience the beauty of the Easter Vigil?👍

And she certainly has her heart in the right place. If you say so Benedictus - yes, I believe you are right. 👍

Hi ben and Cinnette, 👋

I think because of this is why we have no problem:

"Seek not to understand that you may believe, but believe that you may understand. " ~Saint Augustine.

Protestants always seem to get this concept reversed! **

Yes Real I know God is LOVE but it was not in that sense.

I meant in what form or image. We just don’t know that. Whatever Paradise is like we have no idea.

Some years ago I was watching a Brazillian “Foto Novela” (soapie) in Portugal and some people died and went to Paradise. Well they were wandering aimlessly on a beautiful lawn dressed in white robes. We had a good laugh because it was quite boring. I would prefer if they were sailing on beautiful yachts on the clouds or maybe even dancing the tango or something!!! LOL

🙂 🙂
