No no you have that all wrong. You see, the Constitution requires that the Senate vote next. And the Democrats lectured us for hours yesterday how they’re the new safeguards of the Constitution. Surely you’re not suggesting the Democrats weren’t sincere???
I would be shocked to learn that politics was involved in any of this.
Wait, so you think it’s admirable that a senator has vowed not to do his constitutional duty?
Actually I’m astonished that anyone could take that charge seriously.

What McConnell said was that he thought the same rules used in 1999 - and approved by all 100 senators at the time - should be used in this case as well. Unsurprisingly, for Democrats, what is sauce for the goose is assuredly not sauce for the gander.
Hardly. The next steps are the appointment of Hoiuse managers who present this case at the trial in the Senate.
Except that until the House managers are appointed the articles cannot be sent up…and Pelosi has apparently decided not to appoint them, thus nothing will ever reach the Senate.
“do his job” = do what is obligated for the trial under Senate rules.
For Democrats, rules "is more what you call guidelines than actual rules" given that the previous “rules” are now unacceptable.

You know what I’m asking: what will your excuse be for McConnell not actually considering and weighing the evidence?
What will be the evidence that he actually considered and weighed the evidence? That he votes the way you want him to? That he makes a real serious face? That he says he did?
Frankly I think McConnell should be removed from the Senate. But that’s just me.

Yikes, I thought it was obvious. A senator who refuses to consider and weigh any evidence in an impeachment trial is not serving his or her constituents.
How do you know what a particular Senator’s constituents want?
Which American citizens want the Constitution ignored?

Yes, lying about receiving oral sex and courting foreign interference in an American election are definitely on equal footing.

Of course the D ems are’nt talking about 2016 because all fingers point back at them, their vile and corrupt actions.Unfortunetly for them however is the fact that the voters are” woke” to their despicable actions and they will feel it in 2020. Additionally AG Barr and Durham in their investigations will bring this to an even brighter light

So…Democrats don’t talk about 2016 and that’s evidence they’re still hanging on to 2016? Interesting theory.

Yes, lying about receiving oral sex
The legal term for lying under oath about anything, not just oral sex, is perjury, which is what Clinton was impeached for.
And he accepted and apologized for it. Fond memories of a president who was capable of doing so.

Actions point and the direction that they are angry and pouting.Actions clarify that they are the truly corrupt party that will do anything to regain power.

In other words you believe Democrats are obsessed with 2016. Forgive me if I don’t see you as an expert here.

And now that they’ve voted to impeach, the Speaker wants to delay sending the articles to the Senate! Just WHO does she think she IS? Ever read the Constitution, Nancy?

BTW – did anyone hear her self-righteous press announcements earlier today?

What is Trump or McConnell supposed to apologize for? Not enacting your preferred policies? Winning?
Trump should be apologizing for many things, including lying to Congress and the American people, refusing to allow his people to testify, etc. McConnell…I don’t really care for an apology. Just get him gone.

You know who keeps talking about 2016? 'Cause it ain’t the Democrats…
You know whose been talking about impeachment since 2016? Cause it is the Democrats…
Yes, it was certainly prescient to see that Trump would do something worth impeachment. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist.

Frankly I think McConnell should be removed from the Senate. But that’s just me.
Well that’s pretty much sums up Trump’s impeachment: "We want him gone, so let’s impeach him."
Yes, lying about receiving oral sex and courting foreign interference in an American election are definitely on equal footing.
The principle charge against Clinton was lying under oath, of which he was in fact found guilty in the courts. The principle complaint against Trump is his unwillingness to participate in the efforts to destroy him. That’s basically what the obstruction of Congress charge is.
