As much as they attack Trump for his flip on abortion, they despise Pence’s principled moral stance.
What!!! 🤣

I view Pence as complicit. At least he won’t be crazy on the world stage.

I thought you weren’t a Democrat. I thought you were a Republican that just didn’t like Trump.

Pro abortion Democrats despise his pro life stance. It isn’t funny. It is evidence of an immoral anti- life principle

I’m an independent. I lean conservative but even that is starting to change. I don’t think the Republicans will be a viable party after Trump. I’m disgusted with them.

As for Pence, he has gone all in for Trump and I will never support him.

That’s been obvious for a while.

That’s okay. I’m not surprised at all by progressive Democrats. They’ve made it clear, with their opposition to the the first and second amendments, the electoral college, due process, representative governance through the senate, and their denial of the legitimacy of the 2016 election, that they oppose the American constitutional system.

None of these apply to me. And, frankly, most don’t apply to Democrats, either.

My comment is not an exaggeration. A body of people using intimidation and malpractice to accomplish political aims is evident. Each day that goes by, the Dems become emboldened in a weaponized way. I’m holding out hope that our current political system will squelch and neutralize the movement next month.

Serious question: Are you saying based on the actions of people you don’t like (which I get), that you would start thinking that high taxes are better than low taxes, that you might not be prolife now, but pro-choice, that you think the government now needs more power over your life, instead of less. How does the actions of specific individuals change your world view like that?

Is it still a problem that i will be happy for a Senate vote that i agree with?
I’m beginning to suspect the Senate might not get to vote on this. The Democrats got what they wanted by having the House investigation and voting to impeach, but they surely aren’t looking forward to what the Senate would do to those articles of impeachment with a process the Dems don’t control. That Pelosi has decided to, temporarily for now, withhold sending the articles to the Senate could just be the beginning of a longer strategy of never sending them up at all.

Why would they send the articles up to a senate led by a man who has promised not to do his job regarding them?

The Republicans have raised the deficit, so this is no longer a thing . Republicans are supposed to be fiscally conservative, which leads to low taxes. They are giving the rich low taxes at the expense of the moderate income people. So, this doesn’t count.
that you might not be prolife now, but pro-choice,
Nope, solidly prolife. I’ve made the ultimate pro-life choice, having a baby with a severe birth defect and caring for him until his natural death. However, most prolife legislation is made at the local and state level. Also, abortions have been down year over year for a long time. You don’t need to put up with a person like Trump or his acolytes to be prolife.

You don’t need to put up with someone like Brett Kavanaugh to be prolife.

As I’ve said here many times, the ends don’t justify the means
That you think the government now needs more power over your life, instead of less
Nope again. I think that government needs enough power to protect us from evil interests that want to pollute our air and our water for the sake of profit. When business goes unchecked, the people running businesses make wrong decisions.

I don’'t think big government is the answer to anything. BUT, that doesn’t mean I have to support the current republicans who blindly follow a truly bad person for the sake of, well, I don’t know what.

Most people get more conservative as they age. I am becoming more liberal, in the sense that I think we have an obligation to our fellow man, to the least among us. The Republicans have forgotten that we are a country of immigrants, forgotten that they descended from immigrants, and have simply embraced the politics of fear and hate.

Why would they send the articles up to a senate led by a man who has promised not to do his job regarding them?
Because Trump is apparently such a threat to the country and the Constitution that he just had to be impeached? 🤷‍♂️

Does anybody know how this “works” anyway? does the senate really need to wait for a hand delivery from the house? The impeachment articles are online and we know the vote total. why not just begin whenever the senate pleases?

Why would they send the articles up to a senate led by a man who has promised not to do his job regarding them?
Yes, this is precisely the excuse that is being advanced, and precisely the accusation leveled at the person who thinks the same process used for the Clinton impeachment ought to be used in this instance. That was always going to unacceptable to the left.

I’m beginning to suspect the Senate might not get to vote on this
No no you have that all wrong. You see, the Constitution requires that the Senate vote next. And the Democrats lectured us for hours yesterday how they’re the new safeguards of the Constitution. Surely you’re not suggesting the Democrats weren’t sincere???

Wait, so you think it’s admirable that a senator has vowed not to do his constitutional duty?
