Is It a Grave Sin to Vote Democrat?

Democrats for Life has gathered data indicating that 1 in 3 Democrats are pro-life. I see hope where you don’t and intend to keep working for change in this arena. The Democratic Party wasn’t always the abortion party, and it doesn’t have to remain so.

Voting is a duty I’ll give to “Caesar”.
The way I think about it is the Jews were taxed, who knows where those taxes went. It was part of their duty to pay though to be a citizen. Voting is part of my duty as a citizen. I use my conscience, and make the best choice I can. It will never be perfect. I believe my country is better if I vote.
From our Bishops:

36. When all candidates hold a position that promotes an intrinsically evil act, the
conscientious voter faces a dilemma. The voter may decide to take the extraordinary step of not
voting for any candidate or, after careful deliberation, may decide to vote for the candidate
deemed less likely to advance such a morally flawed position and more likely to pursue other
authentic human goods
Yes…sometimes I vote for a third party that has no chance whatsoever of winning. Family and friends say I’m throwing away the vote. I don’t see it that way. Third party voting can be a powerful voice too. I mean in the last US election about 5% voted for a third party. Neither Donald nor Hillary got the majority.

Pro emancipation confederates.
Pro government libertarians
Pro capitalist communists
Pro African American skinheads

Sure. I’ll look into it.

Do 1 in 3 not think it’s a big deal? Maybe, but 1 in three believe in abortion enough to look the other way. It’s such a big plank in the party’s platform that it is the whole stage.

I believe that there are pro-life Democrats. But it seems none of them are running for president.

That’s where I’m at.

I’ve voted 3rd party for a long time (with the exception of local elections). I believe it is a moral requirement to vote. But the Dems are frankly beyond the pale right now with abortion, euthanasia, and other things (like suing little sisters of the poor).

The Reps are just silly. They’ve dismantled education in my State and managed to make it horrific. And they are incredibly petty. I also don’t like how they handle the environment or how they seem prone to regulatory capture. Federally they are too hawkish for me (though that is also a democratic trait).

So for me recently, when possible, I vote or write in the American Solidarity Party.

Best I can do.

They get nuked every time they are up for a serious position. Look at both Gore and Lieberman. Both bailed on early pro life stances. The money from PP and the ‘chic blessing’ from the Party theorists is just too much for them to give up.

It’s worse now. Cuomo’s bill is a disaster. Pro Choice theory is so entrenched with the Dems I don’t see any pro life dems getting any serious nomination for a long time.

These are terrible analogies. Racism defines and is the ONLY raison d’etre of the skinheads. The Democratic party is about a LOT of different issues, with a LOT of internal disagreement, that have changed and will continue to change over the years. That’s why you never see anti-racist skinheads, but you see plenty of pro-life Democrats. (Duh). @TheLittleLady just showed us how 1/3 of Democrats are pro-life. Are 1/3 of all skinheads anti-racism?

I’ve actually voted for a pro life dem when I had the chance; simply because I wanted to support pro life dems.

He was abandoned by his party.

They are deadly serious about pro choice.

I agree about voter shaming to an extent. But I really think if we want serious change we need to empower a third party somehow. However that is exceedingly difficult as the Dems and Reps are bipartisan on keeping their stranglehold on government.

IIRC after Perot they changed the rules so that wouldn’t happen again.

Or you could just vote for a pro life candidate. I mean that might be a good idea.

The fact is, you have to look at it like a team. Democrats will vote with other democrats once in office, so a vote for one democrat, pro-life or not, is a vote for all democrats.

That is about the most unbelievable stat I have ever heard.
It wasn’t all that long ago that Democratic politicians were stating such things as you can’t be pro-life and democrat, they got Biden to flip his stance. Pro-abortion is a huge platform for them, masked as “women’s rights” and “women’s health care”, but in reality it is about supporting Planned Parenthood (big donor) and their ability to murder babies.

Look how they celebrated in New York when that law passed! Any person with a conscience who supported those type of lawmakers should have hung their head in shame. Celebrating the ability to literally murder a baby who can live outside the womb. Can people go any lower?

As far as CNN, they have lost all credibility with their shody story telling fairy tales. Nothing that comes from them is believable. Given they claim 1/3 of democrats are pro-life should have been enough of a clue they poll was twisted.

Matt 6:10 is helpful, here –

Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.

The Lord’s prayer is more subversive than you may realize. God expects us to live our faith every day in every way. One role of government is to promote the common good. Unfortunately, in our secular society, that doesn’t include what is good for our souls. So we must spread the faith and vote inline with our values of life and human dignity. Seeing God’s will be done at least in part means enacting laws that abide by natural and divine law.

And while much of the positions of Democrats are those I support, the one overriding issue for me is abortion. Also, the relativism and secularism of left wing politics is damaging to society and puts souls in jeopardy, so it depends on which dem you’re thinking about.

I’m not sure about the Democratic leaders, but for the typical woman who is pro-choice and a Democrat, women’s rights is surely not a pretense or mask but rather the core reason why they are pro-choice. They believe that for too long throughout history, women have been treated as property by men and society, and now it is time to reclaim their G-d-given human rights. And what can be more personal than being able to have control over one’s own body and decide whether or not they wish to bring their pregnancy to term. Like it or not, that is the reasoning of many, even most, women regarding the issue of abortion. This includes both Democratic and Republican women, rich and poor, White and minority.

Oh the irony!!! 🤦‍♀️

Maybe a more apt word is progressivism which really is very intolerant of those who don’t agree with this idology .

Tell me one right a woman does not have that a man has. Just one.

Women always have the right to not bring a child into this world, that choice begins before she decides to have sex. Women have the right to say no and there is no more powerful way to control your body than to say no.

Please no one, don’t go all “whatabout” with the rape issue. It accounts for .05% of all abortions.
