Jehovah's witnesses still dont have an accurate translation?

John 1:1 is not the only “problem” here.

Do JW’s use the historical critical method or something else?
The vast majority of Bible readers are completly unaware that dozens of translators see John 1:1 differently. 50+ translations say something different than “The Word was God”.

It’s truly a shame that no one cares and they just go along believing what they’ve been told.

In my opinion, doing deep research on both sides of the questions is critical. I’ve read dozen’s of books on the Trinity because I’m truly interested in understanding the truth.

In my opinion, most Christians are on autopilot, almost hypnotized into believing whatever they are told by their church without any independant research.

Pick up Debuhn’s book… It’s really a good read. You don’t have to agree with it, just expand your knowledge base.

He brings out amazing and interesting points.

The Society has LONG FROWNED on independent bible study. I believe it was Judge Rutherford who stated that a "biblestudent (read JW) who read the bible for two years without the “Watchtower helps” would be more lost than if he’d never been a JW…in other words…without the JW literature to “help understand” the JW doctrine just isn’t found in the bible.
OMBS! Does JustAsking4 know about this? I was just trying to convince him to toss his bible and become Catholic-but it may be too late for him-no JW help at all! :bigyikes:
Myfavoritemartin is also a goner…

There was absolutely no insult towards Mary.

“The fact that the Scriptures do not teach Christians to pray to Mary in no way implies a lack of respect for the role she played in the outworking of God’s purposes. The blessings that come through her Son will be to the eternal benefit of all obedient mankind. “All generations will pronounce me happy,” Mary herself stated. And her cousin Elizabeth said that Mary was “blessed ... among women.” Indeed, she was. It was a wonderful privilege for Mary to be chosen to bear the Messiah.—Luke 1:42, 48,*49.”

On the other hand the response to me typing Jerusalem instead of Bethlahem was petty.
“All generations will pronounce me happy,”
Happy!
In my Bible Our Blessed Mother says “All generations will call me BLESSED” Little Orphan Annie was “happy” but she wasn’t blessed. And BibleSteve, you still haven’t told me why the Magi didn’t run back to Herod. Let me ask you this, What in the wide world of sports makes you think that Satan would hang around the stable at Bethlehem on the night of Jesus’ birth, when the place was surrounded by the angels of the heavenly host? Hmmmmm?

I cant find this post where he says happy…

I will come back tomorrow.

Bible Steve, I hope you can come back tomorrow too.

Of course Mary was happy.

But, I am curious about this.

Good night all, you too BibleSteve. Please try to do better tomorrow,
you didn’t do so well today. Remember the six P’s.

Better yet, try the True Church, the Catholic Church.
Teaching the Truth since Pentecost.

I reviewed 50+ Bibles to contrast and compare each and every sentence. These included dozens of Catholic and Protestant Translations and Version.

How about you?
I could not pass this one up. I seriously doubt that you read and compared 50+ bibles and compared them line by line. If you had seriously done this, I doubt that you would have arrived at the twisted view of Christianity that you possess. That or your distorted perception was influenced by the Watchtower’s bogus theology. Either way, it appears that you have wasted your time.

Good Morning!

I see you have a new thread that is very very interesting about JW’s and Catholics.

Could you PM me if Bible Steve comes on? Thanks!
he will ignore that thread because he deems me an “apostate”. yes, i will pm you:)

That’s right. Hey, I guess I need another cup of coffee. I was going to ask Bible Steve if he has seen the video program mentioned in this Kingdom Ministry mag. Jehovah’s Witnesses- organized to share the good news.

They sure like that word organize/organization dont they?

I wonder if the reason Steve ignored my post 130 is because I too am one of the former JW’s moved into the apostate column. Could be?
likely if he knows your an ex witness he might not talk to you.

Better than 50? Wow, that really is impressive. How long did that take you and what conclusions did you come to? Since we’re on about translations and JW’s and all I hope it isn’t off topic.

In those 50+ how many translated
  • John 1:1 the way the NWT does?
  • the Greek word Theos and some times Kurios as Jehovah in the Christain Greek Scriptures?
  • said ‘torcure stake instead’ of ‘cross’?
  • inserted the word [other] in Col 1:16?
This is a question I edited slightly, but am curious to find an answer on, if Bible Steve can reply now, we may see if there is any common ground to work with here.

I need to organize my sliverware drawer.

But of course, I agree this is the primary ideal and comes before all other petty things like, clean untensils.
