Consciousness of pain makes an act of killing worse? .
Um…Yes? I feel like most people would agree with this from a logical standpoint. Abortion is terrible, but the way most abortions are performed is not akin to torture or suffering. If we’re comparing ways that people are killed, an abortion is much more humane than a suffering in a concentration camp.

You clearly have no understanding of what abortions can entail.

Just look at Gosnells busted office.

And you clearly have no understanding of what the Holocaust entailed. Gosnell was and extreme and uncommon case. That’s not in the majority and statistically insignificant compared to most abortions in America performed with qualified staff in an appropriate medical facility.

Yeah, because with an abortion it’s just a clump of cells, right?

I’ve made my views known about this in the past here but… I’m pro-life and so against this kind of analogy. Call abortion a genocide. But not a “holocaust.” Aside from the fact that the term doesn’t even make sense denotatively, it’s been seen by survivors and victims’ families as a highly offensive use of one tragedy to promote a specific cause. There are better ways to go about the pro-life mission. We shouldn’t and don’t need to co-opt others’ pain to expose the pain of aborted victims.
What a reality TV personality thinks is unimportant. I have no interest in ever watching the TV show with the Duggers, just as I have no interest in watching the Kardashians.

The horror of chopping children into little pieces and throwing them out with the trash is not mitigated by the fact the chopping is done by qualified staff in an appropriate medical facility

Once again, not actually how most abortions are done. I understand the sentiment, but that’s a very inaccurate statement from a medical standpoint.

Leads to my main problem with her comment. Shows no understanding from anything other than an emotional standpoint and defies logic.

👍

Good point, we need to remember, there may well have been relatively little pain when people were gassed.

Seriously? Have you any idea what gassing entailed?
I’m aware that gassing persons was an accepted form of execution as Capital Punishment having to pass hurdles that would call it cruel and unusual punishment.

I’m aware that every year, people die from carbon monoxide poisoning without even knowing they are passing out.
**Missouri Death Row Legal Battle Could Bring Back Gas Chamber **
Lethal gas is “basically a painful process, no matter how you describe it,” Richard Dieter, executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center, a nonprofit group that provides data on capital punishment, told ABC News.
“You drop pellets in an acid, which produces a gas that replaces the oxygen in the room. There are multiple ways of producing this gas. You can even use different gases. But either way you are slowly depriving the person of oxygen, making it difficult and then impossible for them to breathe.”
You can have the opinion it is cruel and unusual punishment and I might share that view with you, what you can not negate is that there are probably a number of gaseous poisonings through carbon monoxide that would seem to be painless.

Zyklon B, I don’t know.

Actually thats the way overwhelming majority of abortions were done. Ask the nurses who have worked in these mills about about their job being to count the body parts to make sure they got the whole child . With all due respect the attitude that if you dismember these children before they look like children that somehow makes it more palatable is what defies logic

Of course, in PrincessRenae’s little world, gruesome murder is fine as long as its in a “medical” facility and carried out by “medical” staff.

Do you agree with the Catholic Church’s teaching on abortion?

I think the outrage is a prime example of missing the forest for the trees. Her comment was about far more than abortion. I was on the over arching concept that some groups of people think they are better than other groups of people and feel that because of that, they have a right to kill the “lesser” people. There have been countless other times in history when one group or another have decided to torture and/or wipe out an undesireable group of people. One set of victims isn’t anymore special than another set of victim. None of them deserved the to be killed.

Why don’t you describe for us all what your understanding is of how most abortions are done. Enlighten us since you view us as so ignorant.

The entire Nazi holocaust was done under the rubric of “public health,” not unlike the abortion industry. When Jews were sent to camps it was in essence the German version of the CDC who was doing it.

Systematic killing of a group of people
Killing of a people who the killers feel have no rights
Kill of a people who the killers don’t feel are human

Since 1973 over 50 million unborn children have been killed in the US alone (was somewhere like 54M as of 2012, probably much higher now). That’s almost as many people who died in WWII, soldiers and civilians. If you add in the figures for the rest of the world, you may need to add in WWI and some other wars as well.

What it comes down to is the ultimate refusal to acknowledge the full humanity of the group one views as a threat.

For the Nazis, the Jews were a lower order of being that needed, for whatever twisted reasons, to be exterminated. For those who view the unborn as the enemy, the fetus is a lower order of being that needs to be done away with mostly in the name of individual expediency.

If one believes the individual rights of the more powerful trump the right to life of the unborn child, then of course, there is no abortion holocaust. It’s that simple.

Or it’s as simple as a group with an agenda co-opting the pain and horror experienced by another victimized group to serve its own purposes.
