This is definitely voter intimidation, and Castro meant it to be so.

But when a politician says those donors contribute to hate for the people of El Paso did, as Castro said, that’s disgusting in the extreme.
They support a man who uses his massive platform to spread the same dehumanizing rhetoric that the shooter used in his manifesto.

I don’t like Trump’s rhetoric toward Hispanics. It’s typical of some Americans, but it’s freedom of speech. (Scares me to death for my kids, but it is Trump’s right to say).

But what Castro did was totally uncalled for. People in this country have the absolute right to make a political donation to a politician. It’s one of the most basic principles of our freedoms. Without that right, there is no United States of America as we know it to be.

So, are you in favor of intimidating Castro because he is exercising his first amendment right?
Not sure what you mean by intimidate.

But politicians should not “call out” their constituents like that. Castro needs to address Trump’s behavior, not campaign donors. It is part of the political process to be able to make a donation and not have fingers pointed at you for your party affiliation or politician of choice.

Hyperbole much?

Castro is being told he is classless and being a bully for his antics. If you believe calling out people for their behavior is intimidation, then a lot of people owe murderers and pedophiles some apologies.

No one is threatening to break Castro’s knee caps if he doesn’t apologize.

So, are you in favor of intimidating Castro because he is exercising his first amendment right?
So when Trump releases the names and addresses of AOC’s or Ilhan Omar’s donors saying it sure would be a shame if anything happened to them, you’ll support him exercising his 1st amendment right?

As if this isn’t my real name and picture…

You are correct of course. All done under sage-like wisdom of helping us see the light and change course, according to dvdjs. And the left wonders why many on the right see them as totalitarian? Some on the left are proposing they tell us how to think.

Hopefully these six people will “reflect and end their support” of Castro.

I’m getting the feeling that some on CAF would love to spread your real name and address on the internet, so others “could help you see the error in your ways.”
Just yesterday one of the liberal posters solicited my location so he could “report” my fertilizer dealer to the ATF for what he/she claims are lax practices in securing ammonium nitrate. Wouldn’t let go of it. I’ll probably see more of it today, because it’s really to harass someone with whom he disagrees politically. One does need to be careful.

  1. The right is not absolute. There are, for example, some limits on donations.
  2. The donations are a matter of public record. No one making a donation has or should have any expectation privacy.
  3. Calling attention to the public record is not novel. There have been many incidents of campaigns records showing a contribution from a disreputable source. Public attention ensues.
  4. I suspect, but do not recall, that attention has been brought to donors of others candidates of ill-repute.
So what is the big deal here? Trump and his supporters should be immune form politics?

If you believe calling out people for their behavior is intimidation
I don’t. Similarly, I don’t see calling people out for the behavior of supporting disreputable candidates as intimidation.

Where in the world do you get that impression.
That would be doxxing. No such thing happened with Castro.

Not sure why you would try to pin that on me. I respect the difference between public and private information. I once gave private information about myself to a fellow poster in a PM. It was then publicly disseminated on the board. Never again.

Not unless they revealed something private, an unlisted phone number, the address of someone’s home, the school where M/M Blah’s kids go to school, the time and location of their next Doctor’s visit or salon appointment.

dox

/däks/

verb

INFORMAL

gerund or present participle: doxxing
  1. search for and publish private or identifying information about (a particular individual) on the Internet, typically with malicious intent.
“hackers and online vigilantes routinely dox both public and private figures”

You can simply visit the FEC website, as I listed above, and find the name of every donor to any federal campaign.

Want to know if your sister donated to a federal campaign? You can also search by her name and zip code.

Campaign donations are public record.

So then you would be good with Trump releasing the names and addresses of AOC’s or Ilhan Omar’s donor to his supporters and then telling them “keep an eye on these people, we wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to them”…

Again, donations are public, so, there is nothing to release. It is like saying “are you okay with President Trump releasing the address of all of the Walgreen’s Drug Stores in the world?” or “are you okay with President Trump releasing the text of the US Constitution?”.

Aside, it seems very disrespectful to refer to our elected public servants by simply their last name. Can we try to use their title “Representative/President/Senator/Secretary/The Honorable” or at the very least “Mr/Mrs/Ms”?

If Trump was having some dispute or issue with Walgreens for some reason and he did this the media would be screaming at the top of their lungs that he was encouraging supporters to go to those stores to cause trouble for them.
