Al Gore won Florida in 2000 and most people went to bed.

Then Bush pulled ahead in the wee hours of the days, and Gore unwon Florida.
As I recall, Gore was declared by the media to have won.
But the polls in the panhandle had not closed.

By the time they had, Gore had lost his lead.

Then they started recounts.
And they kept doing recounts.
And they were caught manufacturing votes for Gore.

Some were meant for Gore. But went for Buchanan by deceptive design.
A “deceptive design” that thousands of others had absolutely no problem with.

The real problem was during the recounts poll workers were looking at ballots and claiming to know the “intention” of the voter…and would then count the vote for Gore.

The supreme court looked at this fraud in process, and put a stop to it.

Those are not the facts of the case. Suggest you read Bush v Gore.

Those are not the facts of the case.
But those are facts.

The recounts that were being done were an attempt to falsify the voting data.

I refer you to the various stories concerning the dangling chad, or the dimpled chad, or the dented chad.

But those are facts.
No, they are partisan opinions.

And I refer you to the court cases, which deal in facts.

There were indeed inconsistencies in how each county was determining voter intent. But your partisan opinion is just that.

Luckily we have more accurate equipment now than they did in 2000.

Our 2 newest Supreme Court Justices were in FL for that recount. I wonder what they think of that time, and this time.

Now the internet has taken the place of those tabloids, and it’s harder to ascertain what’s true and what’s false.
It’s going to get worst. Photo and video edit tools are easily accessible and technologies that enable the production of deep fakes are commercially available.

So you fully acknowledge that you live in a third world corrupt banana republic in which democracy has been completely eradicated by an all powerful Leftist Party that has single handedly and masterfully ended the American experiment without firing a single bullet?
Must be very depressing. In your worldview, the Democrats are incredibly powerful and terrifyingly competent… pulling off the biggest act of corruption in the history of the planet on a scale no one has ever imagined while leaving no hard evidence behind.

If I truly believed such a thing, I would run for the hills… now.
The democrat party is definitely powerful and terrifying. Power is the name of their game.

They have been corrupt for a long time and getting worse. Their behavior over the last 4 years just show
how desperate and angry they were.

I’ve actually thought of the party as comparatively weaker. For the past 4 years, the republican party has come across to me as unified behind Trump. While the Democratic party has come across as simply not-republican, with a variety of positions (not necessarily unified). If we were not in a two-party system, I don’t think that J.R. Biden and AOC would be in the same party.

But the Republican party has not been unified under Trump, sadly. Most Republicans refused to support him the first 6 months because they believed the
Russian hoax was true until it was proved it wasn’t.
Then some republicans pulled behind Trump, but not all. Hence, the never Trumpers and the Lincoln Project.

The democrats are left of center and far left of center
existing in one party.

I feel like “center” has been progressively shifting to the right. Some of today’s democrats look like yesterday’s republicans.

True. There are some that are not behind him. Mitt Romney now comes to mind. Being behind him does appear to be a popular position within the party.

They were not supposed to count intended votes.
They were supposed to count votes.
There were ballots where it wasn’t completely obvious who the voter voted for. Because of the punch card method of marking ballots, some still had chads attached, meaning there was no clean hole to look at. It was a bad voting system.

So, your comment about “They were supposed to count votes” is not addressing that issue, and oversimplifying the problem present in 2000. If it’s not clear who the voter voted for, in that there is no clear hole by a candidate’s name, then you have to examine the ballot to determine who they intended to vote for. Is there a mark in one of the holes? Is one half-way punched?

It’s pretty simple.

I agree, Lincoln Project and other never-Trumpers notwithstanding.
