Mass Shooting at Colo. Movie Theater, 14 People Dead

What surprises me is the attention these shootings are having on this Forum. When I was in NYC last month, there were far more shooting deaths there during those four weeks, yet I saw no particular interest, ghoulish or otherwise, in those killings on this Forum. I’d like to think that CAF is more than a Catholic tabloid. If not, where’s the Page 3 girl for those of us who’d rather not read about the latest “if it bleeds, it leads” story? 😦 😦

You can find the Page 3 girl anywhere else on the internet. No one is forcing you to be here, or to be on this thread.

True enough, but the very interest in the topic seems ghoulish to me. This is a Catholic forum yet I’ve not seen any comments related to Catholicism.

It seems purely “if it bleeds, it leads,” to me anyway. I’d never comment on the circumstances of the case. 🤷

I saw a feature about the Toronto Police Dept where the officers come off duty, clear their sidearms, and leave them, along with their uniforms, at the stationhouse. Going on duty, the reverse. Minimal number of guns on the street, even on the part of the cops. 😉

Seemingly, our police would not wish to use them and fortunately they do not need to, at present. Any gun related crimes in Ireland are always gang/drugs related of gang members and they are few and far between.
 
I just heard that one of the victims survived a shooting in Toronto a few weeks ago. I feel really sad for her and her family

This thread is in the World News subforum though. If it wasn’t being discussed I’m sure someone would say CAF doesn’t care about this tragic event.

The tragic murder of 12 shouldn’t be of any interest to Catholics? 🤷 I don’t think that is what you mean to say, but I’m not sure if I fully understand what you are trying to say.

Prayers for the victims, that our Lord would welcome those killed home, and comfort their families. Prayers that the injured would recovery fully.

At three months. I would. At this stage parents can still get away with continuing to enjoy what they did before they had an infant.

At that age we took our daughter out to eat late at night. No big deal.

Now with a 3 year-old I remember fondly those peaceful times. . . . sigh. . .

I am quite sure that you are not allowed to use the terms “3-year old” and “peaceful” in the same sentence without breaking a law somewhere…😃
