Let’s get real here folks. A woman laying on a table SPREAD EAGLE is much different than being in a room with clergy clothed is totally different!
How? Far more clergy of all denominations have violated members of their flocks than doctors have violated patients.

Ditto!..I remember one time when I had to put a mama to be on the fetal monitor, Her husband said I must be a lesbian, because I lifted her shirt up to put the belts around her belly. I told him to go to hell and walked out of the room. His wife apologized to me before she left. And next time she came in, HE stayed home.

Dear CB…Thanks for weighing in on this topic. I am always interested in hearing from medical professionals such as yourself who are on the forefront of these issues. Have you ever heard of any muslim women (because of their religion) refuse a male doctor to see them? I view this no differently. While you claim to have always acted honorably, unfortunately not all doctors or nurses have, and that’s why I strongly lean towards the thought that it would be best if all everyone went to the same sex provider. While your post did not state whether if you work in the ER enviroment, unless there is an extreme medical emergency, my wife has always vowed to see a female doctor. You also stated that incidents of patients being violated are “rare”, however, the internet, as well as the news are full of these accusations. Perhaps you’ll admit that sometimes medical professionals get accustomed to “nudity” because their always around it, and have sometimes left patients uncovered, etc. I have heard so many stories about hospitals where the patients are left laying nude, etc. Some medical professionals do not value modesty perhaps as some others do. Even 1 person stated earlier in this thread that they aren’t self conscious, well, perhaps some of are. You should perhaps review all 12 pages of Dr. Berstein’s blog page on Patient Modesty, and Modesty Issues. You may find it quite interesting actually.

Jim, good question. Well, I’d have to say that my wife possibly doesn’t feel as strongly about me possibly having to see a female doctor, as strongly as I may feel about her seeing a male gyn doctor. As you know, there are many different areas of medicine, dentist, ent, etc., and my wife also has a male dentist. I also try not to have a double standard where this is area concerned. If I ever had the need to take it off, 1.) I would try to make sure to have a male doctor, and 2.) if I had a female doctor, for my wife to also be there.
Nope! My issue is mainly just about cross gender examinations. So long as all male doctors stay away from my wife.
I have a sense of humor too, just so long as all male doctors stay away from my wife.
