What about the Frenchman who exclaimed, “I have seen God,” when Barack Obama visited France?
One man’s opinion.
Or all of the young (and not so young) people who thought that he was the great hope (do not you remember people painting doors and walls with his image)?
Does their opinion constititute declaring him, “Savior of All the Earth”?
Or that girl who wrote a song about him?
Is it wrong to write a song about someone?

Ever hear of hyperbole? Plus, there’s the French guy seeing God in Obama, Louis Farakan calling him the messiah, and Hillary Clinton saying that the skies will open up and a chorus of angels will sing…What else do you need?

Hello, Mr. Olszewski. Even if not all of his supporters gave him an “official” title does not mean that they were any less obsessive about him. And did not you think that that song was a little odd?

What hyperbole? If you believe that those remarks and that title accurately describe the feelings all those who support the Democratic Party have towards him, I’m rather surprised at you.

What about the guy who wrote a song about him (a hilarious song, in fact-
)? That was just a sidetrack everyone should see, because I’m endlessly amused by it.

Anyway, its easy to find individuals saying things; what you’re trying to prove, and what you can’t do, is that the mass of people who voted for the President voted for him because they saw him as a religious messiah (and using that quote from Hillary Clinton, really? That was clearly sarcastic hyperbole)

Bad argument. “even if not all of his suppporters considered George Bush God in the flesh does not mean that they were any less obssessive about him.” Don’t argue from a negative. See?

You used a specific title, “Savior of All the Earth.” Who addressed him with that title and on what occasion? Please provide a a link because this seems to be no more than the product of your imagination.

The same with fainting and swooning.
I never presented a title. I quite specifically said “He was presented as …” He even considered himself Savior of all Earth"

From his nomination speech: "…I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. "

Sounds pretty magnanimous to me. Savior of All the Earth. I stand by my comments.

There appear to be literalists here, so if Hillary made comments that the sky would open up and a beam of light would come down from heaven, then she must have meant them.

What if somebody wrote a song about him? There’s songs about a lot of presidents-Lincoln had a very popular and hyperbolic song written about him for the 1860 campaign, and that was before he’d actually done anything to make him great:

That’s Lincoln and Liberty Too, which is funny especially because its to the tune of an old, silly Irish drinking song.

Funny that trend of people who write songs of praise to a President before he actually does anything and turns out to be a disaster. You figure people would learn by now. 🤷

Abraham Lincoln was the best president this country’s ever had. If it wasn’t for him, it’d no longer exist, and there would have been at least another generation of slavery in the South.

Abraham Lincoln was probably the worst president we ever had, without qualifiers. The guy was an unmitigated disaster for the country.

Oh! You bought the lie that Abraham Lincoln had any motivation whatsoever about emancipating the slaves when he became President! Now I see where you are coming from. 👍

50 years later they still do it with Kennedy.

Acomplishments: Crickets chirp…

Failures: Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis, racial civil unrest, Vietnam, massive military spending,

A skillful media manipulator, Kennedy used television to present a carefully constructed public image to Americans. Kennedy’s constituents saw him as vigorous, healthy, a dedicated husband, a giant among men. That he was none of these things did not matter then or now.

You forget his position against the Federal Reserve and the fact he appointed one of the two justices to the Supreme Court who voted AGAINST Roe vs. Wade.

What’s ironic in all this “conservative” talk is that if it had not been for the progressives, women still wouldn’t be allowed to vote, much less to hold elected offices.
First state to give women the right to vote - the liberal bastion of Wyoming (Dick Cheney’s home state).

The 19th Amendment was only passed through congress in 1920 AFTER Republicans took control. Votes in 1915, 1918 and 1919 went down to defeat under democrat party control.

You might want to brush up on your history a bit.

You missed the word “accomplishments”. Neither act accomplished anything.

Does any diminishing of past presidents’ accomplishments serve any purpose today?

I am as convinced that most of you will not vote for Obama as you ought to be convinced that I will not vote for any GOP candidate. Why the argumentation then? You have your man or woman, I have mine. 🤷

THe problem with progressives is that they start out with some good ideas, but cannot seem to let it go once they have their changes implemented. They keep pushing and pushing until the most extreme manifestation of their goals become realized. Look at feminism, started off with awakening society to the desparity between men and women in the work place, and the trauma of women in the home under brutal husbands. I say YAY, equality and loving treatment by husbands. But no, they can’t stop there. They keep pushing and pushing until they equate marriage with slavery and consentual sex with rape.
