It means absolutely nothing as to what color, ethnicity one’s spouse is but I thought it was interesting that the wife of Chauvin and she just filed for divorce, she appears to be of Far Eastern ancestry. She is very attractive and appears to have run for “Mrs. Minnesota”, if this is so. I wonder if they have children. I see one picture of her even with some sort of crown. Did she win the contest? I have heard of this contest previously. I’ll let people search this out for oneself.
 
The defendant and the victim worked at the same nightclub, so I read. I’ll be a little surprised if there is not a personal element in this killing, although neither side in the trial would necessarily be motivated to pursue it.
 
No he’s pointing out how stupid the “My spouse/significant other/friend is a person of color, therefore I can’t be racist” defense is.
 
Lest in our haste to take sides, we are still bound by rules of Catholic charity, one of which is to avoid rash judgement by assuming the best in each case, not the worst. We have to take people at their word when they say they made a mistake.

I think the point was that using Thomas Jefferson as an example of someone who was racist but had a black girlfriend made a poor analogy. I think it was the comparison between Jefferson and Chauven that was being opposed. Of course, I would think the two plus centuries alone would make that comparison soft.

In any case, speculating on the racist-ness of the person is probably futile, if all we have is his actions in this one incident.

I would agree with this 100% under a normal set of circumstances, however this is not one of those times.
 
This reminds of an incident that happened back in my childhood.

Two kids were wrestling and eventually one had the other in a chokehold. The other said he couldn’t breathe. The response was what you just said. Talking means you can breathe. Well the other passed out and had to be rushed to hospital. It turns out he had an asthma attack.

So underlying health issues could bring about passing out.

Yes Chauven being married to a minority woman has nothing to bear on the topic of whether he’s a racist. Gotcha.
 
The point of being called a racist is that any defense you level against it proves how racist you are.
 
It is almost as tired as the argument that assumes racism of anyone white until proven innocent. I really think the whole focus on who is the most racist is counterproductive and takes the focus off the bigger issue of police accountability and reform.

The death toll is at one each, if you want to count, but with a lot more people financially devastated from the former. I will pass on your personal bar of what counts as racist.

Did they test him for COVID antibodies so that could ensure he didn’t belong on the COVID fatality list?
