Isn’t it though? Especially since I am not a Catholic or Christian, and do not make a habit of holding different people to different standards. Your sense of outrage is out of proportion to the original exchange, but still entertaining its self righteousness.
Speaking of proportionality:
Replacing the thugs in uniform now with our own police force is not replacing the city or state.
Branding every officer a thug is proportional?

First of all RIP George Floyd and may the Lord take good care of him in Heaven. What they did to him is just awful and no human being should die that way. ☹️
That being said, I personally think that while these riots started off as something noble, a quest for justice, it has now turned into something else. It’s a cry for help, and not just for that poor man. Look deeper. I’m sad to say this gave people an excuse to take out all their anger, people are unemployed and hungry, hence the looting and the madness, and they’re scared, and scared people aren’t rational people. I live right downtown but I don’t really watch tv and I haven’t left the house in a while so I didn’t know what the protest was about until I heard the sirens and called the concierge. Even though I live in a sky-rise I was still scared. But not scared that they’re gonna break into my house, scared for this country, at this pace we’re never going to go back to work, most of these protesters have completely forgotten about the Coronavirus. And while I understand why they’re doing all of this, because they’re scared and they also want justice, but that doesn’t justify terrorizing innocent people. All we can do is pray. At least that’s what I’m doing.

God Bless America… And all you guys out there. Be well and stay safe. Let us pray together tonight! 🤍 🙏

Speaking of manufactured outrage, your deflection is noted but uninteresting as bait. My meaning, in full context, is accessible in the earlier chat with Student to anyone truly curious.

Rage isn’t a rational emotion.

Catholic churches and cathedrals in several cities were among the buildings damaged in the protests and riots that occurred nationwide over the past week.

Church buildings in California, Minnesota, New York, Kentucky, Texas, and Colorado were attacked. Many of the defaced or damaged churches were cathedrals. The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver sustained permanent damage.

Vandals repeatedly struck the Denver cathedral on multiple nights of the protests and riots over the weekend. The church building and rectory were spray painted with the slogans “Pedofiles” [sic], “God is dead,” “There is no God,” along with other anti-police, anarchist, and anti-religion phrases and symbols.
How is vandalising churches and spraypainting anti-religious phrases on them a form of protesting police brutality against black people and racism in general?

White nationalists, as despicable as they are, do not tend to target Christian churches. Antifa on the other hand, very well might.

To me it’s looking increasingly likely that there were originally protests. Some of the protesters were peaceful, some of them got violent. Antifa thugs then fueled this by getting amongst them and creating general destruction and havoc.

This long ago ceased to be about George Floyd and justice. It’s just anarchy now, and not in the good Dorothy Day sense.

How do you know this? I’m not even sure who or what Antifa is and you know it or they caused the violence?

Well either it was them or people who like to dress up exactly like them and use the exact same tactics they use. Antifa riots are organised and well prepared. There were pallets of cement blocks on various streets (with no construction sight nearby), ready for use.

Churches in our neighborhood, have not been burned down. Also, I made clear that there are multiple groups.

Looters and bad actors who deface property by graffiti, breaking windows and stealing. I’ve seen a lot of teens, and a mixture of opportunists doing this. They are randomly destructive, basically going where protests are and taking advantage of police gassing people to hit whatever building is in the vicinity.

That is wholly different in threat level to the white nationalists we’ve directly seen planting incindiary material behind businesses and who work in groups and have planned targets. They didn’t come here hoping to steal stuff but to terrorize and attack our neighborhood as an attack on all of us. They hit critical stuff like a gas station, our pharmacies, black owned businesses, while skipping other shops just as vulnerable in between. They hit the smoke shop where hipsters love to gather, but ignored the pet shop and subway on either side.

No churches here in Longfellow have been burned. And I haven’t seen anyone identifying as Antifa here either. National Guard has not warned us about them either. They have however named Aryan Nation as a target in our area.

White nationalists came here to use the protests to levy their attacks on our city, burned down multiple businesses, fired shots from their vehicles through our streets, targeted black people for racist insults, and attempted to make it look like it was us doing it our own neighborhood.

The final point is Minneapolis is known to be a liberal city and I’ve see Antifa demonstrations here before. Because they live here. White nationalists as a rule generally do not live in our city because those types despise it and they certainly do hate coming here.

When the NG shut down the highways, and out the curfew in place it was largely to trap outsiders who shouldn’t be here and remove them. Thus, the large number of out of state vehicles left roving our streets at night because they don’t have homes to go to. Because they don’t live here.

And since most drove in for the weekend, guess what happened when those large number of out of state vehicles and their white nationalist owners left town on Monday?

Oh yeah, the arson attempts have dropped off precipitously. If it were Antifa, they are still here. But they white nationalists have largely been arrested or driven out by neighborhood watches and the NG.

So the attempts by others outside our neighborhood to blame Antifa for the people in trucks, wearing caps and camo, bearing tats like “88” and AR-15s and with FL plates and TX plates are outright lying. We’ve been terrorized by these white nationalists.

The Basilica of St. Mary In Minneapolis was targeted and sustained burn damage.

I think part of the problem was the last-second nature of the closure.
That’s exactly what it was, and actually he wasn’t the only vehicle to end up on the bridge…he’s just the one just couldn’t stop (at over 50,000lbs). If anyone knows the intersection of 94 going to 35W he didn’t see anyone or anything until it was too late.

As of now, 4 through 7 are not required and never have been. I’ve lived in Longfellow for 5 years and haven’t encountered a single cop off duty in the community or as a neighbor. I’ve never seen any police cars parked as a resident.
That doesn’t mean that none of them live in Minneapolis.

I just found data that ~8% of the force lives in Minneapolis and a couple actually do live in Longfellow. Most of them live a few minutes north in Andover.
The cops are basically paid outside mercenaries who shoot black people to the rate of 13 times that of whites.
Link please.

Yes or any shred of evidence at all for that stat.

It’s rhetoric like this that puts ordinary policemen and women, that make up the majority of the police force, in danger.
Minimum percentage of force must be POC.
You really think this would help? Black cops often get treated just as bad as, if not worse, than white cops (as traitors) by black people they come into contact with.
Actually, I don’t believe the term “White privilege” refers to the economic advantage of Whites. I believe it refers to the fact that Whites do not have to live in fear of such things as police brutality, not being hired for a job because of their skin color, not being able to buy a home or take out a loan because of their race/color, and so on. Whites do not have these concerns.
Erm, perhaps a few decades ago. Right now, I would say being white puts you at a disadvantage in terms of being hired. In fact many (big) companies put out vacancies for only black and ethnic minority people. I.e. you are not allowed to apply if you are white. I know this used to be a prominent thing that happened to black people, and it wasn’t right, but that doesn’t mean doing it now the other way around is okay.
but for Muslims and Jews, there is also “Christian privilege,” in that Christians do not need to be afraid of certain things such as anti-Muslim attacks or anti-Semitic incidents that Muslims and Jews need to be concerned about.
I take it you are only referring to the USA here, because there are a lot of places where Christians do have to fear, even for their own lives, just because they are Christian.

Meltzerboy you’re basically repeating the tired line the liberal media have been repeating for years. You just missed out men in there, ‘male privilege’. Basically white straight Christian men are the most privileged men ever, right?

I included men in a later post! LOL So you needn’t worry. And I would add to that the disabled.

Yes, this is one tired liberal talking point that I think still applies, although perhaps not as much as in the past, as you noted in terms of employment.

White, Christian, straight, able-bodied, able-minded men are still, in my opinion, the most privileged group in United States history. Not because they are wealthy or they do not have health issues, but because they are still not particularly overwhelmed by concerns and fears that POC, non-Christian, disabled, women have.

Nonetheless, as I previously stated, what you make of your life, or do not make of it, is on you alone. No amount of extra burdens in life can fully explain your lack of success, however you wish to define that term. If you use that as an excuse and give up or, worse still, resort to hatred and even violence, that is your problem, not the fault of society, your community, or your family.

Ah okay, so indeed you didn’t forget them.
White Christian straight able-bodied, able-minded men are still, in my opinion, the most privileged group in United States history. Not because they are wealthy or they do not have health issues, but because they are still not particularly overwhelmed by concerns and fears that POC, non-Christian, disabled, women have.
So to clarify, if white Christian heterosexual (don’t forget to put that in) able bodied, able minded men are the most privileged group in the US, but not because they are richer and not because it helps them get employment, then in what way exactly are they privileged?

Is it because they might get less abuse in the streets or people saying nasty things about them behind their back?
