I beleive this is going to sink a few election hopes and dreams too. It shows just what a tinderbox situation exists in the national community of what is likely more then 1 country

So how do you propose to solve the current problems? In a Catholic way as this is a Catholic forum and it would be nice if your proposed solutions fit the social teaching of the Church.
Scroll up.
How many Christian movies and plays must I quote before Christians realize the answer has been stated and supported?

Why is it if you’re pro #blacklivesmatter you must be anti white, anti Christian or anti police?

Police reform. Police reform. Police reform.

Have I not been clear?

Christians aren’t required to just say oh yes that’s true because it’s from a self proclaimed Christian movie or play.

I can agree on police reform. Namely stop militarizing the police.

Why? What is it about.?

Riots and protests in 30 cities and growing. Something bigger then the initial reason this started is going on.

Well because you said what is likely more than one country. I may have misunderstood. It’s about the variety of concerns and interests that exist among different regions in the U.S. and how it doesn’t make sense to lump all of them together in one big country.

There seems to be a mob mentality atm across at least 30 cities.

While social realities must be considered, it’s sad no one in the media brings up Original Sin. In our secularized society “Justice” means only that all persons are equal and interchangeable.

We have a resistable, but powerful, inclination towards evil. Hardly anyone is communicating that evil is a reality, that it can and should be resisted.

Minneapolis is secular showplace, a role model for social solutions. The local archdiocese is known for Peace and Justice advocacy, in a city where advocacy is a way of life.

With some exceptions there hasn’t been emphasis on doctrine, conversion, evangelism. There will be yet more social solutions.

I mean, I don’t know why this surprises you. Police have a license to kill backed up by years of racism. What are you supposed to do when the courts won’t prosecute?
It doesn’t surprise me. I’ve been for the demilitarization of the police for a decade. At the same time, we believe that you don’t repay evil for evil. Indeed, violently over turning of the established order usually just leads to worse abuses under the new, as demonstrated by a century of revolutionary action and thought.

That’s a nice sentiment but the reality is we got a blown engine and your saying “if it didn’t blow there would be less damage.”
Okay, sure but it’s a side effect of the problem. A problem no one is addressing. Yelling at the riots won’t work.

So I ask again, what are your proposed solutions? Beyond just police reform.

Yeah, it’s totally okay that a cop killed George Floyd because Adam and Eve partook of the fruit

I was reading the news today, and I’m seeing so much about the riots protesting police brutality towards people of color in Minneapolis after the death of George Floyd. I know for certain they burnt down a Walmart, looted and vandalized a Target grocery store, destroyed a police precinct, and that’s just the stuff I know of. What are your thoughts on this? Are they justified in their destruction because it’s for a good cause?
The protests are OK, the riots are not. This whole discussion deflects others from the real issue of the heinous crime that these officers committed.

The question you should be asking yourself is why his fellow officers - completely armed and with the power to intervene - did nothing to stop him.

Isn’t that a good place too start? It’s what got us here. The police in Las Vegas instituted adjustments ranging from sensitivity training to de-escalation tactics. It’s not perfect but they acknowledged the problem and police shootings dropped by over 30%.

People on this forum have been accusing me of being hostile but when you can shave off over 30% of a reason to draw a gun there’s a Huge problem. A problem that’s only been able to continue because we make excuses.

Black on black violence, more whites get shot then blacks, new world order…

Really? We are talking about a thirty percent margin of error here. That’s just one reason people are mad. I haven’t even addressed how we can fix the unholy alliance between police and the DAs office. How much margin of error do you think we’ll find there? How many misconceptions do you think we’ll find when I lift that rock? Police and the DA while co-op are supposed too remain separate to prevent prosecution bias. Given the circumstances I think this topic shows that’s the case.

So they should stop abusing racial minorities.
Police should be better then they are.
People shouldn’t have criticized knelling during anthems.

Now here we are.
“Now here we are”? Police have made major changes, do not systematicaly abuse people based on race, and are better than they used to be. These are not the problems. The problems are the constant racism of the left telling them that they are victims and unable to be better and fatherless homes from years of democratic policies encouraging it financially.
