I said “seem to think”. I’m no mind reader. I think it’s naive to think that everyone who preaches against personal sin doesn’t have another motive.

Exactly. It’s how you do it that reflects one’s intentions to the person receiving the message.

Sin “X” == artificial birth control.

Funny, there are a few posters claiming sin “X” isn’t a sin.

Sin “X” is still a sin and denying that sin “X” is a sin is a sin in and of itself.

Nobody should be surprised that posting an explicit rejection of the teaching of the Church while claiming to be a faithful Catholic in a Catholic forum is going to get the poster called on the carpet for both heterodoxy and hypocrisy.

Well, were only talking about #3. I haven’t mentioned anything about the rest of them.

3a. Modestly
3b. With Charity
3c. Only if it’s public, they shouldn’t go looking for it
4.d With humor, if possible.

There. I’ve just re-written the number 3 with sub sets and everything. Up next is the book of Hosea. 😉

By their living example. One is not going to convince a couple to not use ABCs by criticizing them, disregarding their fears and concerns, and self-righteously pointing fingers at them. However, those who have large families have the opportunity to affect contracepting couples by showing them there’s nothing to fear, by showing them the positives in having a large family, and showing them how the negative effects are minimal at best.

Grave sin is still a grave sin no matter how many are doing it and no matter what rationalization the sinner uses to ameliorate their defective conscience.

Sure it is, but you’re not going to convince them to follow Church rules with negativity and fire and brimstone. Who would listen? One is more likely to convince them with positivity and by SHOWING them that one is happy being Catholic, rather than showing them that one is burdened (and therefore, so should they be miserably burdened) by following the rules.

Thank you for understanding me…I didn’t think I was being uncharitable :confused: …I thought I was trying to convince people to be more charitable in their evangelization efforts. 🤷

So you beleieve that one should never publicly affirm the teachings of the Church lest they appear judgemental or arrogant? Or do you just believe they should never affirm a teaching of the Church you are uncomfortable with?

One should never pubicly affirm the teachings of the church if they are judgemental and arrogant.

I’m not really “umcofortable” about the issue of birth control. I don’t think about it much.

Nobody is burdened by following the teaching of the Church.
