Most people are not aware that the most important question is: whether they will save the Crown of Thorns …

And those who are not Christian do not? If you have friends that have no respect for religion, then take it up with them. The rest of us will mourn a tragic loss of a part of France. On behalf of the French and behalf of all Catholics and behalf of everyone who has visited the church and on behalf all those who will now not be able to.
 
Whoever lit that fire is going to gain the Holy Wrath of Mother Church and her entire Magisterium.
 
I am sure saving the Crown of Thorns was a high priority for the sacristan and cathedral staff, who would have been on site at the time the fire broke out. If there was any way to evacuate it early on, it would have been done.

No more needs to be said. I turned off the tv and prayed and read the Bible. I have no use for any talking heads.

To my knowledge, no. The Crown of Thorns is preserved at Notre-Dame.
 
If i’m not wrong, the Crown is in the Notre-Dame Cathedral

Pray for all of the world’s remaining great cathedrals, and all houses of worship. May God protect them.
 
They’ll restore it, of that I have no doubt. Soon? The scheduled restoration work was supposed to take twenty years to complete. Repairing this damage will surely take much longer.
 
I never claimed this was the end of the world. I believe it to be a judgment, yes, but where did I claim I believe this is the end of the world or second coming?
 
Will Notre Dame be restored? Macron is promising it will. But what kind of restoration will be possible?
I think it’s too early to say. It’ll be some time yet before we know how much of the original fabric will be left standing.

I agree. Though I imagine France will put the full weight of its financial and artistic resources behind the restoration. I hope the Catholic Church does, as well.
 
Yes, you are. The government of France will be forced by the people to do it right. I suspect the yellow vests will see to that.
 
Sadly, in France the headlines might have read: “Vacant house burns to the ground.”

A wake up call to France and the entire EU.
 
A disaster felt not only by Catholics, but by many around the world.
