MORAL CRITERIA FOR GOVERNMENT BUDGETARY DECISIONS.

Anyone who really cares about the poor should have no problem adopting the framework set forth by the Bishops of three moral criteria that should guide budgetary decisions:
THE BISHOPS SAY….

1. Every budget decision should be assessed by whether it protects or threatens human life and dignity.
2. A central moral measure of any budget proposal is how it affects “the least of these” (Matthew 25). The needs of those who are hungry and homeless, without work or in poverty should come first.
3. Government and other institutions have a shared responsibility to promote the common good of all, especially ordinary workers and families who struggle to live in dignity in difficult economic times.

Bishops aren’t economic or constitutional experts. Our constitution does not allow the Federal government to do what it does. You should at least be happy that those unconstitutional programs even exist at the Federal level.

They’re called Social Security and Medicaid, grannies and poor folk in the millions depend on them to keep from starving and beggary.

They are American programs, legislated legally into law.

And neocons like cantor and boehner are literally foaming at their mouths in anticipation of drastically cutting back both these programs.

You can see it in their eyes, that fervent gleam of seeing millions of their fellow Americans fall into poverty, begging at some church’s door for food and shelter, while their true constituents, the elite billionaires, drink champaign, toasting their war-profits.

The Federal government takes in about $5 Billion each and every day in routine tax collections. The Social Security and Medicare are only about $2 Billion per day.

So, who is it that is talking about not sending their monthly checks to the Social Security and Medicare recipients?

NOT THE CONSERVATIVES!

It’s Obama who says he can’t guarantee that the Social Security and Medicare checks will be mailed out. Those are his exact words!!!

He’s playing chicken with the American people.

Interest on the national debt is about $1 Billion per day.

Which leaves about $2 Billion per day for the rest of the expenses of the Federal government.

But the Obama spending machine is up around $10 Billion per day and with “Obamacare” will be up around $13 Billion per day.

And none of that is the fault of George Bush.

You’re right, they should stop playing games with the debt ceiling. Boehner should tell Obama flatly that the debt ceiling will not be raised, period. Then Congress will have to firgure out how to work with the debt ceiling and the revenues they have. Problem solved… Great idea!!!

You’re speaking of Obama or Paul Ryan?

When you speak of Obama Medicare cuts, I assume you’re including changes to the private Medicare Advantage program of which the vast majority of Medicare recipients are not particpants in. Most are on traditional Medicare. And changes in reimbursement to providers.

I’ve heard of Obama and the Democrats talking about raising taxes on only the upper 2 or 3% percent of incomes. Or above a quarter million dollars a year has been discussed. I’ve even heard higher. If I were at those levels I’d have extra to mail.

The Republican answer no matter how high we set the level: No no no no.

Democrats supported the war till it became politically beneficial to oppose it. You can hold on to the Bush lied people died mantra the rest of your life for all I care. It shows a lack of understanding and knowledge of what’s happened since.
