It will be a tragedy for America if she does NOT win the nomination and the Presidency. I certainly hope that enough Americans see through the charlatans Rick Perry and Milt Romney before it’s too late. For me, there is no second choice, even though I think that Santorum and Cain are worthy men, and Bachmann is a good person. Palin has the potential to right America’s course, and quickly. She is a leader who fiercely fights for Constitutional principles, and, rare for a politician, she deflects credit for everything she’s done to her “team”. She is a humble, prayerful woman whose courage and competence has shone at every level. 🙂 Rob
Thanks for saying so, Rob. I have not heard one objective reason why she should not win the presidency. She is bright, is a quick study, and can cut to the heart of the matter in a way few can. There are many people saying she should not be president, but very few who can articulate a legitimate reason why. If she had a Y chromosome instead of an extra X, there would be little doubt about “his” electability.

Funny, I haven’t seen an objective reason presented why she *should *be president. It is almost all, like your post, highly subjective opinions presented without any basis of evalutaion. “She’s smart, she’s nice, she’s a good mother…” I’m certainly not convinced by the mere expression of subjective opinions.

Since when does an objective reason need to be present to elect someone to office? Look at the current office holder. Look at the people who sued various localities that wanted to drop the party designator from the ballots. Some people need to know who is the D and who is the R. THere is your objective reason. “Such and such candidate is a Democrat, so that’s why I voted for her.”

The educational background of Sarah Palin at North Idaho community college and of her husband who managed to graduate from high school, compare rather unfavorably with the Harvard Law school education of Barack Obama and the Princeton education of Michelle Obama.

Yes, because this bevy of Ivy educated elitists have done so good for the country.

This is patently misleading
After graduating from high school, Palin enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.[22] Shortly after arriving in Hawaii, Palin switched to Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu for a semester in the fall of 1982. She transferred to North Idaho College, a community college in Coeur d’Alene, for the spring and fall semesters of 1983.[23] (In June 2008, the Alumni Association of NIC gave her its Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award.)[23][24]
In 1984, Palin won the Miss Wasilla beauty pageant.[25][26] She finished third in the Miss Alaska pageant,[27][28] playing flute in the talent portion of the contest,[29] and receiving both the Miss Congeniality award and a college scholarship.[19]
She attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho in the fall of 1984 and spring of 1985, and attended Matanuska-Susitna College in Alaska in the fall of 1985. Palin returned to the University of Idaho in the spring of 1986, and received her bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism in 1987.[23][30][31][32]
Not much different than my university experience. I dropped out of university in my senior year. I had been a French major. My dream was to be a UN interpreter and live in NYC. My dad died and reality set in. I got a job and finished night school with a B.S. in Business Administration, emphasis Accounting. It took me another five years studying in night school. I didn’t get any scholarships. How did Obama get the money to go to university and law school?

You left out GW Bush.

Good thing Abe Lincoln didn’t have to meet these standards. BTW, does anyone know from which university G. Washington graduated? John Adams?

Too much emphasis is placed on elite Ivy League school education, which is out of reach of the average American citizen.

I live in the Midwest. I know you’re not a great admirer of Abe Lincoln, but you should see some of the places he grew up. Hot, sweaty, working the fields.

General Grant, although he did go to West Point, did work along side of the slaves in the fields at White Haven. He never thought himself above those who hadn’t the privilege of his state of life.

I’m not a fan of Pallin, but I am voting NObama in the upcoming election. So if she was the republican nominee against Obama, I’d definitely vote for her in a heartbeat.

I think Raskolnikov is saying that one is necessary in HIS case. I don’t think he considers the fact that some people feel a need to “who is the D and who is the R” to justify foregoing the search for an objective reason to vote for someone.

By the way, I HAVE seen people post in these forums who will unabashedly say “Such and such candidate is a Republican, so that’s why I voted for her.”

I’d be very careful of the “Anything But Bush” syndrome that dominated the 2008 election.

In either case, we don’t have to worry about it. Palin will not win in the primaries.

Compare the academic resources of Harvard and Princeton with Idaho community college, and you will find that there is simply no comparison. Harvard and Princeton have professors who have done unparalleled world-class research work in every field to make it the top in the nation, if not the entire world: Economics, Asian studies, philosophy, political science, mathematics, chemistry, business, social studies. And there is no doubt that Harvard and Princeton have some of the smartest and brightest students in the world. Add to that some of the best academic libraries in the world, which is another area where Idaho community college is lacking.

So if they were so great why did Obama turn out so stupid?

If Osama were still alive, I don’t think HE would be labeling Obama ‘stupid.’
Of course. If Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld were so smart, how come they could not track down Osama, even when he was under their very noses?

I think it’d be difficult to get any worse than Obama, quite honestly. 👍
