The rub there is who will be better. I have no confidence whatever in who that will be. 🤷
Fair enough. As I implied, I fully agree with you that this forum leans rightward considerably. Of course most posters here (me included) are biased. I just wanted to say that, in principle, I sympathize with your frustration at the idolizing of partisan ideologues (whatever their ideology).

Yes, some crumbs were tossed regarding the second debate, but the consensus was that Obama barely eked out a tiny lead.

Surely you don’t think that this is an even-handed Forum. :hmmm:
I would say that the 2nd was so close because it was so bombastic, with haymakers thrown at every turn by both, the 3rd was also close because it was so guarded.

And I DO consider myself an even-handed observer. 😃

And the $16 trillion national debt, $1 trillion annual deficits, $90 billion wasted on green energy companies, 23 million unemployed, and 47 million people on food stamps are successes of the Obama administration?
Certainly they are not. That’s why I stated previously that Obama is not in the same league as some of the great Presidents of yesteryear. Nonetheless, contrary to the OP, I don’t agree Obama’s presidency is a total failure.

Everyone is wrong except you and me, and sometimes I’m not so sure about you. 😃

Agreed, he’s in a league of his own when it comes to giving out tax monies to his political supporters.

The liberals made a huge deal about the 1.2 billion dollar no bid contracts that Clinton awarded Halliburton and how the US went to war to make those contracts more valuable. But Halliburton provided massive amounts of services for those contracts they were paid for. On the other hand Obama has given billions to companies simply because they held their hand out without providing an iota of value to the government or the country. The auto union pension fund bailout has costed the US over 25 billion.

I just filled out my absentee ballot after a week of being undecided between Gov. Gary Johnson and Gov. Romney. Ultimately, I decided to vote for Mitt Romney since it would help more coming from the swing state of Florida.

And after reading a bit, I am glad and excited I cast my ballot for him!

Romney/Ryan 2012!

I’m actually more excited for Vice President Ryan than for President Romney

I disagree that Obama’s entire presidency has been a failure. His signing of the Lily Ledbetter Bill for equal pay for women, his repeal of the ā€œdon’t ask, don’t tellā€ military policy, the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, setting a timetable for the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, the crippling sanctions on Iran, the Affordable Care Act of Obamacare that ensures, among other things, coverage for preexisting conditions, the reduction of costs for prescription medication for seniors, the auto bailout, these I view as genuine accomplishments.
As do I. Hopefully with 4 more years Obama will be able to take a more socially progressive stance with no worry of an upcoming election.

If you only consider that someone who lives like you do is elligeble to receive your confidence, then how can any priest or bishop in the world have anything to offer you in the way of confidence. (not talking about obedience to the magisterium here) For example, should priests not be able to counsel married couples because they are not married?

Not accusing you, but my personal opinion is that people who use the ā€œout of touchā€ cliche actually mean ā€œrichā€. Just because someone is rich doesn’t mean they don’t care about
ā€œaverageā€ americans, whatever that means. Liberals don’t mind that the Kennedy’s are rich, I guess you can be rich as long as you talk about how much your going to give away (of other people’s money)šŸ˜‰
Agreed.

Obama in touch? He was raised in Indonesia, then Hawaii. Did he ever play little league baseball?

Romney was raised in the USA. Went to church on Sundays, just like all his neighbors and friends. Devotes 10% of time (and more than that of his money) to charity work.

Obama’s charity work?

Romney was very wise to pick Paul Ryan.

As do I. Hopefully with 4 more years Obama will be able to take a **more socially progressive **stance with no worry of an upcoming election.
How much more socially progressive do you want him to get? He already approves of SS ā€œmarriage,ā€ refuses to uphold DOMA. Approves late term abortion. HHS mandate. All in defiance of CC Teaching.

What does this mean? Even more people on EBT cards?

You surely understand that no man running for President is perfect and even tho’ you do not agree with his positions on serious moral positions that does not prevent you from voting for him.
The following is a quote from Cardinal Ratzinger.

[N.B. A Catholic would be guilty of formal cooperation in evil, and so unworthy to present himself for Holy Communion, if he were to deliberately vote for a candidate precisely because of the candidate’s permissive stand on abortion and/or euthanasia. When a Catholic does not share a candidate’s stand in favour of abortion and/or euthanasia, but votes for that candidate for other reasons, it is considered remote material cooperation, which can be permitted in the presence of proportionate reasons.]

And by the way , in the present , there are tons of proportionate reasons for not voting for one who could be forever changing his positions on just about every important issue.

Peace, Carlan.
Great. Name ONE position ā€œproportionateā€ to 50 million dead in 40 years?

Started World War II, was Pol Pot’s right hand man, AND was responsible for the Great Chicago Fire?

:eek::eek::eek:

What else do you have in mind that you would support?

Exactly. How can a Catholic support Obama?

Unless the President moves the overall polls 5-6 points back his direction, the debates were a net loss for him and a net gain for Romney, and moreso than really any candidates since Reagan and Carter. To argue individual wins and losses simply allows people to sleep better at night for their guy. None of the debates after the first one were decisive for either candidate, or enough to undo the damage that debate did.

If the polls shift back to Obama, he has won the debates. If we see no movement, or Romney gains a few points, Romney won the debates.
Hey He Man, we agree!

At this point the debates are a net-win for Romney.
